In This Moment Video To Debut On HBB

The “Headbanger’s Ball” debut of IN THIS MOMENT’s striking new video for “Beautiful Tragedy” is set for this Saturday, July 14. Directed by Robert Hall, whose special effects company, Almost Human Inc, is responsible for special makeup design in the upcoming feature film “Superbad,” the video features lead singer Maria Brink falling asleep in a bathtub and slipping into a surreal nightmare where a dark, evil figure looms amidst the burnt landscapes. The video is up on the band’s MySpace page here.

Commented guitarist Chris Howorth: “We spent a little more time on this new video. It’s got more of a storyline with the live-action element. The shoot took place in the mountains near Santa Clarita, California, where there was a recent forest fire. It was a really different vibe.”

Currently touring as part of the much-talked about free Ozzfest 2007 with metal’s most celebrated and colorful acts, IN THIS MOMENT will play to an audience press were curious to figure out themselves. “We didn’t know what to think,” Howorth said. “It’s packed. They were so loud! If today is an indication of how the rest of the tour is going to be, it is going to be one of the best tours to date.”

Keeping busy on the tour front, IN THIS MOMENT will play with Megadeth and The Confession on a nationwide trek soon after Ozzfest. “Being direct support for Megadeth is a dream,” Howorth says. “It’s up there with Ozzfest. They’re one of my favorite bands of all time. We’re really excited to be playing. A lot of Megadeth fans will discover us for the first time.”

The complete tour schedule is as follows: More...

In This Moment Comment On Tour, Heading Overseas

IN THIS MOMENT will head overseas this week with DevilDriver for their first European tour, which kicks off with a performance at the renowned Rock Im Park Festival alongside such major artists as Korn and Velvet Revolver. The group recently completed a highly successful North American trek on the inaugural Hottest Chicks In Metal tour supporting labelmates Lacuna Coil. Look for IN THIS MOMENT on Ozzfest all summer long, in addition to a slew of off-dates alongside Static-X. See www.myspace.com/inthismoment for their complete summer touring schedule.

Chris Howorth (guitars) states: “We just wrapped up four months of nonstop touring throughout North America. It was such a blast and we made so many new friends. The bands we played with were amazing people and it was so much fun hanging out everyday. Thank you to our fans who came out and supported us, we love you guys! We leave for Europe this week and we can’t even believe it. We are playing seven festivals and a bunch of off-dates with Devildriver and Life of Agony. This tour will definitely be the largest crowds we've ever played for. We can’t wait to meet all the new people and see all the different countries.

Once we get back to the U.S. we will have a week to get our shit together then it’s off to Ozzfest. This is another unbelievable opportunity for us. We are doing all our off-dates with Static X, so the whole summer should be amazing. When Ozzfest wraps up we will start on another tour that is yet to be announced, but trust me this is going to be a big one. We look forward to seeing you all this summer.

Ozzfest 2007 VIP Ticket Plan Revealed

It was announced months ago that tickets for this summer's Ozzfest would be free to fans, and that the longest-running heavy metal festival would subsist on corporate sponsorships and little else.

But obtaining those free tickets for one of the dates on this year's run — which kicks off July 12 in Auburn, Washington, and continues through August 30 in West Palm Beach, Florida — might just give some metal fans a migraine.

First, you have to send an e-mail requesting tickets, and then wait for a confirmation e-mail containing a link to the Web site of one of the tour's various sponsors. Next, you have to wait until June 12 before you can enter that code on some other Web site to redeem two tickets to whichever date you'd like to attend. It's a whole rigmarole that some fans — or, more specifically, those willing to drop some serious scratch — can avoid.

That's right, folks — while this summer's Live Nation-sponsored Ozzfest will be free to most, some will fork over upward of $1,000 to get in. As in years past, Ozzfest's organizers will offer fans a number of VIP ticket packages for purchase, which will ensure them a seat for all the headbangin' action.

The festival's "Party Like a Rockstar" package — which includes preferred pavilion seating, access to the second-stage VIP viewing platform behind the mixing boards, access to the general VIP area, a behind-the-scenes tour and a special host "to help you rock harder than you have ever rocked before" — returns this summer, and will set you back $300. There's also the "I'm Part of the Show" package, which costs $666 and includes all the same perks, in addition to a seat on the Ozzfest stage during Osbourne's concert-closing set.

There's also the "Platinum" package, which will be available by auction in the not-so-distant future. The starting bid will be $1,000 and will be limited to only 10 guests per show. This offer includes everything the "I'm Part of the Show" package does, and then some. Fans who win the auction will also get a personal meeting with Osbourne and his band, along with a certificate signed by Sharon Osbourne. The proceeds of these tickets will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

The festival's 12th annual installment boasts a bill including Ozzy Osbourne, 3 Inches Of Blood, Ankla, Behemoth, Chthonic, Circus Diablo, Daath, Hatebreed, In This Moment, Lamb of God, Lordi, Mondo Generator, Nile, Static-X and The Showdown.

The 24-city 12th annual OZZFEST will launch July 12 in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre. Here are the tour dates: More...

Cristina Scabbia Talks About Touring the US

LiveDaily.com reports: For Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia, it is not difficult to be a female hard-rock singer in a male-dominated world. She counts on professionalism and respect to earn fans.

"As long as you believe in yourself, you can always do it," said Scabbia, who shares vocal duties in the Milan, Italy-based band with male Andrea Ferro.

"I always thought if you give respect to people, you always get the same respect back. Of course, if you are expecting to be just the female in the band and then it's easy to make it just because of that---you are wrong. You're absolutely wrong. You have to be able to do your job. You have to be able to have balls. But I don't think it's a question of being a woman or a man. It's a question of having the right attitude."

Lacuna Coil, which currently is in the midst of the Jagermeister Music Tour with Stone Sour, is one of the few European hard-rock bands to cross the ocean and make a name for itself. It broke into the US market thanks to a 2004 spot on the Ozzfest tour supporting "Comalies" and a 2006 position opening for Rob Zombie. Scabbia chalks up her band's success to the fact that it is "offering something different from the other bands."

"Our music is not the typical music you listen to every day," she said. We always could care less about cliches and music. But we always try to be inspired by different things, and we created something that's absolutely different--we have two singers, a male and female, but we don't use the voices as the beauty and the beast. We have aggressive parts, but a lot of melody in the music. I think that made the difference. We're successful, too, probably because of the relationship with the fans, as well. We always like to interact with them, which we always thought was really important."

Other European hard rock bands haven't been so fortunate because of the high cost to bring a tour to the United States, she explained.

"There's an ocean in between, so it's really expensive to come here and to bring a lot of stuff, to have a decent [stage show], and it's a question of budget and a question of time, as well. If you want to tour properly in the US, you need a lot of time. It's not like you come here, play for a week and then it's done. You have to be able to touch every territory, touch different clubs--A clubs, B clubs, festivals, as well. It's basically a question of time, organization and budget."

After the Jagermeister tour wraps up, Lacuna Coil will begin a headlining tour in support of its latest album "Karmacode." The first single, "Our Truth," was featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Underworld: Evolution."

"Karmacode" closes with a cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence."

"It actually happened because we were thinking about covering a song especially for the live shows," Scabbia said. "We just wanted a very famous song that everybody could sing during shows. We tried different songs, but we just found out 'Enjoy the Silence' was absolutely perfect for our style, but it wasn't meant to be a [Lacuna Coil] single; it was just meant to be a famous song that people could sing during the show. But then people liked it so much that we had to release it as a single because people wanted it."

By the end of this year or the beginning of 2008, Lacuna Coil will return to the studio to record the follow-up to 2006's "Karmacode," which the band co-produced with Waldemar Sorychta. The group has begun penning new material, but it doesn't have complete songs.

"But we're collecting new ideas, keeping everything together and practicing a little bit," Scabbia said.

Here are the latest Lacuna Coil tour dates: More...

Behemoth Added To Ozzfest 2007 Second Stage

Polish extreme metal titans BEHEMOTH have been added to the Ozzfest 2007 lineup. The band has landed the direct-support, non-rotating slot right before second-stage headliners HATEBREED. This is the first time a Polish act has ever participated in Ozzfest.

The Ozzfest 2007 billing is now shaping up as follows:

Main Stage:

[to be announced]

Second Stage – Non-Rotating:

Second Stage – Rotating:

[to be announced]

Nergal (vocals, guitars) states, "I couldn't be more proud about the fact that BEHEMOTH will be joining this year's Ozzfest! I'm speechless and beyond excited. No doubt it's going to be the brightest point of our career thus far, and I hope that this will help to spread dangerous and extreme music among the masses. It's an honor to team up with our longtime brothers in NILE and to share the stage with LAMB OF GOD and HATEBREED, not to mention the legend himself! With such a bill, you can expect nothing but pure metal carnage! What makes me even more excited is the little fact that we will be releasing our new album during the tour. So expect songs from 'The Apostasy', as well as some older shit. We'll definitely make sure the set is going to be brutal as fuck. You've been warned!" More...

It's going to be a great chance to reach out to an entirely new audience. We are also looking forward to playing with and getting to know all the rest of the bands on the tour. In This Moment Singer Talks About Injury

MTV.com reports: There's no denying Maria Brink's a babe. The full-bosomed, pouty-lipped, heavily inked blond frontwoman for Southern California metallers In This Moment sort of gets that, too. That's not to say she isn't a modest lass, of course. But she's reminded on an almost daily basis just how striking she is.

"There's definitely a lot of marriage proposals," she confided, before guitarist Chris Howorth, who runs the band's MySpace page, chimed in: "Every day, there's like five or six marriage proposals that come in, and all of her picture comments — there's about a 1,000 posts for each picture — they're all like, 'You're hot,' 'Will you marry me?,' 'You're hot.' It's retarded."

At the same time, though, In This Moment — which formed in 2005 and will release their debut full-length, Beautiful Tragedy, March 20 — realize that having an attractive face behind the microphone can't hurt in a male-dominated genre. Gorgeous singers have helped the likes of Lacuna Coil and Arch Enemy get noticed, both onstage and off. One thing In This Moment fans may not notice, though, is the gash that graces the bridge of Brink's nose in the video for the first single, "Prayers."

"I literally got my head split open during the shoot," she explained. "I have a big scar across my face. The [camera] dolly came a little close, and I was headbanging, and we just collided and my whole face split open. There was blood all over the place."

When the band's manager tried to call off the shoot, to let Brink recoup, she insisted In This Moment finish what they had started. "We just iced it and glued it shut," she said. "My hair's in my face for much of the video, to cover up the cut on my face." How much more metal does it get?

In This Moment are on tour with Kittie, Walls of Jericho, Dead to Fall and 36Crazyfists through March 24 in Warren, Michigan. After that, they'll head out with Lacuna Coil and Stolen Babies in May for a North American run that launches May 7 in Louisville, Kentucky. The trek's routing is still being finalized.

In This Moment Shoots Video For "Prayers"

In This Moment (Century Media Records) recently shot a new video for the track "Prayers" with up-and-coming director Mike Wildt. Chris Howorth (guitars) further comments on the band's first video shoot: "We had a blast filming our first video, and the location was amazing. The director and crew were really nice and professional. We gave 100% effort, which resulted in some minor battle wounds. Maria Brink (vocals) got smacked in the head with a camera, resulting in a nasty gash on the bridge of her nose, but after applying ice and some crazy glue she was up and headbanging in less than an hour. Everyone in the band probably had whiplash after the shoot was over, but it was totally worth it. We got some great shots and we can’t wait for you all to see the finished product."
