With their Roadrunner Records debut The Hinderers, the band have raised the bar for American metal, garnering praise from critics and fans alike. After a highly successful run on this year’s OZZFest, Daath are gearing up to hit the studio in early 2008 to construct their second offering, tentatively titled The Concealers. Once again focusing on each facet of the Tree of Life/Death, The Concealers will delve deeper into the various sides of human nature and behavior. Refueled and ready to slay, Daath are returning to the US for a full-on aural assault. After spending a few days bringing a dose of Daathliness to Japan, the band is set to hit the road with death metal natives, Dark Funeral and Naglfar. Dates will span over a month, with the metal tour kicking off on October 10th in Springfield, Virginia and wrapping up on November 4th in Covington, Kentucky. This solid lineup will mark the band’s triumphant return to the US after a highly successful run on this summer’s free Ozzfest 2007.
Daath has also created a series of short videos available via their YouTube page and Roadrunner site entitled DAATHUMENTARY. Each of the video episodes is designed to take fans behind the scenes and expose the core of Daath’s drive and passion. The first installment features a backstage look at Ozzfest 2007, band banter and explanations of some of the deeper spiritual concepts of the band and music. The second installment of DAATHUMENTARY features another insight into the unpredictable lives of the band, as well as fine repair skills!
The first and second episode of DAATHUMENTARY can be viewed here.
Spawned from an esoteric heart, Daath’s compositions and credo coincide with a stream of concepts linked to the Hebrew Tree of Life/Death. In the Tree of Life/Death, there are thirteen points and each one of the songs on their Roadrunner Records debut, The Hinderers, is representative of each of these points. Produced by James Murphy (Testament, Obituary), the album has been received with high critical acclaim. The band has begun working on concepts for their next release, encompassing ideas plucked from the spiritual vein. Pursuing higher planes, Daath is metal with a conscience, sparking extreme thought within the metal community.

Just days before this high-voltage metal event takes off, one of the sponsors of the Indy Metal Fest backed out of the deal. Indie label Chavis Records (home to Sonic X and Quiet Riot), who has offered a hand in sponsoring the event since April, has failed to mandatory fees and has left presenting sponsor Blind Prophecy Records to pick up their bill. Now that Chavis has been knocked off the event, the stage at Birdie's Live will no longer be called the Chavis Records Stage, but will rather take on Blind Prophecy's name instead.
The event, powered by Blind Prophecy Records, is slated to cram two venues with over a dozen prime metal acts, including Obituary, Alabama Thunderpussy, Daath, and Blind Prophecy's very own Years of Fire and Pain Principle.

Guitarist & vocalist James Malone regretfully explains why ARSIS had to drop off the Revolver Magazine-sponsored Summer Slaughter Tour while supporting their latest release, United In Regret:
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've been forced to drop off the Summer Slaughter Tour. I do apologize to ALL the fans that missed seeing us. To make a long story short, everything was going great for us until we reached Sacramento, California. After that show, our van began to give us trouble - which surprised us since the van had just been in for repairs twice before the tour even started and we were sure the problem had been fixed. So we took the van in to the nearest dealership, were told the problem could be resolved in 3 days, and decided to wait in Sacramento until the van was fixed. It's now over 2 WEEKS LATER and the van STILL hasn't been repaired. Unfortunately, it's already too late for us to rent a vehicle. We've gone broke paying for hotels. Van rental fees + the cost of gas would have cost us a fortune to catch up to the tour. Please understand that we made the best decision we could with the information we were given. Unfortunately, it turns out we made the wrong decision."
Offers to assist with lodging, gas card gift donation pledges, and general well-wishes for the band can be left at www.myspace.com/ARSIS
DAATH has concocted a cocktail of metal’s most eclectic elements. The band will be releasing an exclusive remix of “Dead on the Dance Floor,” a track from their debut Roadrunner release, The Hinderers, via digital EP this summer. The track was remixed by Danny Lohner, ex-NIN and A Perfect Circle, and is due out in July. Daath guitarist and co-founder Eyal Levi states: “At some point in our lives each member of Daath has done their time with Nine Inch Nail’s music. They are a huge part of our musical upbringing and collaborating with one of their main minds is an honor that we are very excited about.” Describing their sound as “versatile,” Daath stray away from a traditional approach to death metal – weaving deep pockets of groove with electronic nuances, making a remix by Danny Lohner a natural progression for the band.
Having just completed a sold-out UK tour alongside metal juggernauts Unearth, Job For a Cowboy, and Despised Icon, Daath has returned to conquer North America.
Daath will hit the road on June 2nd and will tour through August 30th, showcasing their bombastic live show throughout North America. Their touring journey will begin as part of The Summer Slaughter Tour, featuring a bounty of respected extreme metal acts such as Necrophagist, Decapitated, Cephalic Carnage and Cattle Decapitation. Following Summer Slaughter they will play a string of select dates with Dying Fetus, Psyopus, and Covenance, until launching into this year’s Ozzfest. Daath will dominate the second stage with fellow underground acts such as Nile, 3 Inches of Blood and Chthonic and will be playing select Off-Fest dates with Nile. “This is a breakthrough time for extreme music,” Levi says, “Ozzfest has begun to pick up on the value of underground, truly extreme music. For us it’s not only a great honor, but also a huge opportunity to see how much we can help push the genre.”
Here's the complete list of Daath summer tour dates so far: More...
It was announced months ago that tickets for this summer's Ozzfest would be free to fans, and that the longest-running heavy metal festival would subsist on corporate sponsorships and little else.
But obtaining those free tickets for one of the dates on this year's run — which kicks off July 12 in Auburn, Washington, and continues through August 30 in West Palm Beach, Florida — might just give some metal fans a migraine.
First, you have to send an e-mail requesting tickets, and then wait for a confirmation e-mail containing a link to the Web site of one of the tour's various sponsors. Next, you have to wait until June 12 before you can enter that code on some other Web site to redeem two tickets to whichever date you'd like to attend. It's a whole rigmarole that some fans — or, more specifically, those willing to drop some serious scratch — can avoid.
That's right, folks — while this summer's Live Nation-sponsored Ozzfest will be free to most, some will fork over upward of $1,000 to get in. As in years past, Ozzfest's organizers will offer fans a number of VIP ticket packages for purchase, which will ensure them a seat for all the headbangin' action.
The festival's "Party Like a Rockstar" package — which includes preferred pavilion seating, access to the second-stage VIP viewing platform behind the mixing boards, access to the general VIP area, a behind-the-scenes tour and a special host "to help you rock harder than you have ever rocked before" — returns this summer, and will set you back $300. There's also the "I'm Part of the Show" package, which costs $666 and includes all the same perks, in addition to a seat on the Ozzfest stage during Osbourne's concert-closing set.
There's also the "Platinum" package, which will be available by auction in the not-so-distant future. The starting bid will be $1,000 and will be limited to only 10 guests per show. This offer includes everything the "I'm Part of the Show" package does, and then some. Fans who win the auction will also get a personal meeting with Osbourne and his band, along with a certificate signed by Sharon Osbourne. The proceeds of these tickets will go to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
The festival's 12th annual installment boasts a bill including Ozzy Osbourne, 3 Inches Of Blood, Ankla, Behemoth, Chthonic, Circus Diablo, Daath, Hatebreed, In This Moment, Lamb of God, Lordi, Mondo Generator, Nile, Static-X and The Showdown.

Daath apparently experienced a lot of violence on their winter tour with Goatwhore, the Acacia Strain and Job for a Cowboy and are wary looking ahead to Ozzfest. Here are some excerpts from an MTV article:
"I don't like getting into fights — it's not what I'm into," he said. "But that last tour was so crazy, as far as violence goes, I just figure we've got to be ready. ... After this last tour ... I mean, there were fights every single night. One night, there were nine fights — nine f---ing bloody fights."
During one gig, Levi said, an audience member tried to attack frontman Sean Farber after he drenched the crowd with water.
"I guess some dude didn't like it, and he told us to stop — in the middle of a song, mind you," the guitarist recalled. "First of all, we're not going to stop. Secondly, how do you expect a band to hear that? So he charged the stage and spit in Sean's face. Sean saw him rushing towards the stage and hit him in the face with his microphone. After the show, the dude jumped our merch guy because he thought it was Sean. So let's just say I'm going to be ready next time."
The article also shares this interesting bit of background on the band that I certainly did not know:
Daath — which translates to "knowledge" in Hebrew — released their Roadrunner Records debut, The Hinderers, March 20. The Atlanta act's material is heavily influenced by Da'at and Kabbalah, although the band does not identify a direct religious affiliation in its music. Daath explore esoteric themes associated with the Qabalistic Tree of Life and Death — a mystical-belief system that describes imbalances in areas of the brain — and use it as a framework for psychological exploration, Levi said.
