The Summer Breeze Open Air Festival 2009 will take place in Dinkelsbühl, Germany on August 13th - 15th. The festival's official website has been updated with the following information about Necrophagist, Daath, and Suffocation canceling their appearances:
"Planning the SUMMER BREEZE means again and again things do not work out the way we please. Therefore we have to announce even a couple of band cancellations. Firstly DAATH have cancelled all European shows for the month of August including their SUMMER BREEZE appearance.
"Secondly the entire SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour of which we have booked the entire billing of SUFFOCATION, SUICIDE SILENCE, NECROPHAGIST and THE FACELESS for he BREEZE, has been cancelled. Of course we have tried to have this package play the BREEZE even though. Talking about SUFFOCATION and THE FACELESS chances aren’t bad, really. But SUFFOCATION and NECROPHAGIST we could not do anything about. More...
The Atlanta based quintet DÅÅTH recently unleashed a straight shot of pure, unfiltered American metal upon the masses with their new full-length album, The Concealers, which is garnering numerous rave reviews (see below). The group just completed a very successful month-long North American trek alongside Dragonforce and continues their touring onslaught throughout the summer touring the U.S. with Goatwhore, Abigail Williams, SWWAATS and Abysmal Dawn. Be sure to visit the bands official Myspace Page to view their complete touring itinerary.
DÅÅTH shot a video for the scathing new track, “Day Of Endless Light,” with director Robin Fuller (Ghost of a Thousand, Shaped By Fate) last month and click on the link below to for a sneak peak into the madness that awaits.
Eyal Levi (guitars) further comments: “DÅÅTH is definitely back. We just wrapped up our North American tour with Dragonfoce and Cynic. Now that the dust has settled we have, with proof and via memories, come to the conclusion that this was our best tour ever. On all fronts: crowd reaction, merch sales and new friendships. And any memories we’re too blacked out to remember were caught on film anyways! We have tons of amazing footage from this tour that we’ll be sharing with you guys for a while. Both bands are incredibly easy to tour with because they are composed of such great individuals. Like Kevin Talley was perplexed about, ‘Man, there are no douchebags on this tour! Usually there’s at least one.’ I couldn’t ask for a better tour to come back on after our seemingly centuries long break.
“Coming up in the world of DÅÅTH are quite a few badass and exciting things. First we have a video we’re about to release for ‘Day Of Endless Light.’ I’ve said in the past that I didn’t want us to create just another metal video with five dudes jamming in an abandoned building or warehouse. We wanted a video that was more of a visual work that just carried a dark and slick vibe and could be considered an animated work of art. Well, so far I personally have only seen 10 seconds of it and holy shit! It is definitely on the way to achieving the goal. Director Robin Fuller and art director Jorden Haley are the kind of people I need to always be working with.
“Also, there are some exciting tours in the works. In June and July we’ll be doing the ‘Conquer and Curse’ tour which features our brothers from Goathwore. I can’t say enough how much I admire and love this band. Headlining will be Abigail Williams and the first two bands will be Abysmal Dawn and Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky. This tour is going to be a 180 from the Dragonforce tour and I’m excited for the different experience. We also just confirmed that we’re touring Europe with Chimaira, Unearth, and Throwdown this fall! I don’t need to explain why this is such an amazing tour but let me tell you, we are fucking STOKED to be a part of it! This also will be our second time through Europe with Unearth and can’t wait to share the road with those model human beings.”
The Concealers was produced and mixed by Jason Suecof and Mark Lewis (Trivium, All That Remains, Devildriver) and features unparalleled musicianship along with the extraordinary vocals of Sean Z.

Cleveland groove metallers CHIMAIRA have just announced a European tour alongside their old friends from Boston, UNEARTH, as well as California's straight-edge outfit THROWDOWN. After a highly successful US tour supporting the likes of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and DISTURBED, CHIMAIRA is finally going to hit Europe and spread the infection.
Commented CHIMAIRA singer Mark Hunter: “We’re very excited to get back to Europe and headline. We’ll be playing a bunch of new countries we’ve never been to, including Russia. We plan to play a great mixture of old and new songs, and we’re bringing some of the best bands our genre has to offer with us.“
CHIMAIRA recently released their new album, "The Infection," which entered the German album chart on #86 and landed at #28 on the UK's official Indie charts. The album was their second on Nuclear Blast after 2007's critically-acclaimed "Resurrection," and the tour marks their first European visit since a hugely successful headlining run back in March 2008.

Atlanta based quintet DAATH is about to unleash their brand-new album “The Concealers”, which will be released on April 20th (Europe) and April 21st (US). The band just filmed a video for the song “Day Of Endless Light” with director Robin Fuller (Ghost Of A Thousand, Shaped By Fate) and you can now check out some photos from the shoot at the band's myspace page.
Eyal Levi (guitars) further states:
“I hate music videos. Always have. There’s been a few exceptions over the years like the old Tool videos or White Stripes videos but for the most part they suck. Especially metal videos. How many times can we watch a group of burly dudes throwing down in a warehouse or abandoned building? With this video that was the LAST thing I wanted for us. I set out to find a team that would give us an actual work of art which could be watched and enjoyed regardless of the music. We ended up with Robin Fuller directing. We chose him because of his amazing animation skills and overall enthusiasm for the vision. The vision was to have a video shot in the style of a Frank Miller film (Sin City) and have those shots interwoven with the art and design that Jorden Haley has created for us with “The Concealers”. This will not be your typical metal video.”
In addition to that, the band has posted the brand-new track “Silenced” from the forthcoming album “The Concealers” which can be found on the band's Myspace as well.
Right on time with the album’s release, DAATH will be touring the US in April/May with Dragonforce and Cynic. Visit their MySpace page to view the full list of dates. Also, the following European festivals have been confirmed:

August 16, 2009 – Derby (UK) @ Bloodstock Open Air
Daath has announced that they will not be able to play at the House of Blues show in California on their upcoming tour with Cynic and Dragonforce. The band issued the following statement about the cancelation:
"Apparently Disney doesn’t like us very much. We don’t know why, because they wouldn’t tell us but we know they don’t. And how do we know they don’t? Because they kicked us off the April 15th Anaheim House Of Blues show. I’m not going to bother justifying ourselves in light of this. Only thing I can do is give a sincere apology to any of our fans who spent money to come and see us. We will be back in the area very soon I promise."
The band will continue on the Cynic / Dragonforce tour with their appearance April 17th in Boise, Idaho at Knitting Factory and continue for the duration of the tour.
Power metal band Dragonforce has announced that they will be bringing American progressive metal band Cynic along with them as the main support act for their North American tour which kicks off next month. Daath has posted a new websiode online to help promote their forthcoming new studio album, "The Concealers." You can check it out below. This episode focuses primarily on new lead vocalist Sean Z. Guitarist Eyal Levi states: "Sean Z is a fucking beast. This video is just us rehearsing a few tunes in the studio. Listen to how close he sounds to the record just in the rehearsal room." More...
Georgia metal band Daath are now streaming the track "The Worthless" from their upcoming album "The Concealers," which will be released through Century Media records. The song can be heard on the band's official MySpace page.
Daath has announced that, although they are signed to Roadrunner Records, their forthcoming new studio album, "The Concealers" will be released through Century Media Records. The album will be released on April 20th in Europe and April 21st in North America.
The band states: "We mutually agreed that CM would be much more appropriate for the band at this stage, but that nobody felt like it was time to end the relationship with Roadrunner, so we worked out a deal where Roadrunner still makes our records, but CM works them."
Kevin Talley talked with Sickdrummer.com about his experience working with Daath on their latest album:
'The new Daath was recorded by Jason Suecof and Mark Lewis (they've done Bury your Dead, Devildriver, Chimaira) down in Florida. Finally, I have been able to capture a killer drum sound with them! Utilizing real acoustics, like recording Dying Fetus's Destroy the Opposition. So this drum sound isn't all fake like 90% of the other stuff these days.
"Daath just released new music this past week and I am very stoked about the great response we've gotten. I wasn't really a part of the last Daath record, but I helped write this entire record. It really took me back to the DF days, when I could really connect with other writers who are musically capable and able to handle an asshole drummer.
"The new Daath drum parts are very similar to my old school drumming except, in my opinion, more innovative. I have always been a drummer who writes drum parts to complement, not copy, guitar riffs. This is why I didn't write well with Chimaira. They simply wanted me to copy the riffs which is boring and overdone these days.
"Now more than ever, I have taken to a very unique writing style. It is, however, very very subtle. It's like the first main riff in Sepultura's Chaos A.D. You may think the kick drums follow the riff, but they don't... The beat is different and and adds a ton of groove by complementing the riff. To notice it, you must listen to the riff and then turn off the music. Next, hum the riff in your head and imagine what beat YOU would write to that same riff. Now, turn the music back on and see if the beats match up. Sometimes they will, but mostly they won't. This is not the case when you listen to Fear Factory or Chimaira, which are more straight forward drum parts. Although I added as many good drum parts I could in Chimaira, my drumming on the self titled album is pretty average IMO."
Georgia based metallers Daath has posted a two and a half minute trailer online for their forthcoming new album, "The Concealers." You can check it out below.
Daath entered the studio in March to record "The Concealers" with producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, Chimaira) and Mark Lewis of Florida’s Audio Hammer studios manning the boards. "The Concealers" will be Daath's first album with new vocalist Sean Z., who filled in after Sean Faber left the band following their stint on Ozzfest 2007. More...
Carcass have been confirmed as this years headliners for the Florida deathfest, set to take place on September 13th in St. Petersburg, Florida. Also on the bill will be acts such as Suffocation, Necrophagist, Daath, 1349, Aborted, Rotten Sound and more.
More details as they emerge.
An experienced touring and session drummer in the metal scene, KEVIN TALLEY will be joining Devildriver for OZZFEST in Dallas, TX this year. TALLEY recently finished a new record with his current band DAATH, due out this fall. He has recorded and/or toured with DYING FETUS, CHIMAIRA, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD, HATE ETERNAL, M.O.D., MISERY INDEX, and SUFFOCATION.
There was no mention of why Devildriver would need Talley as a stand-in for Ozzfest in the band's posting.
Daath's drummer Kevin Talley posted the following update to the band's MySpace blog:
"Hey everyone. After having time off during the completion of the new DAATH record, we are back together jamming the new shit here in Atlanta. It feels fucking great to have the record behind us and soon you will hear it. The record is heavy, driving, brutal, and destructive. I can't wait for it's release."
Georgia-based, forward-thinking metal band DAATH, who spent the summer of 2007 kicking up dirt on Ozzfest’s side stage, have completed their search for a new vocalist. Daath are pleased to announce Sean Z. as their new frontman.
The band, who parted ways with Sean Faber after Ozzfest, spent the autumn season holding open auditions for the position, with the unwavering goal of finding a diverse singer with enough range and power to match the band’s progressive style of metal. Fellow Atlantan Sean Z., who filled in on vocals during the band’s late Fall tour with Dark Funeral, fit the bill. Says drummer Kevin Talley, “Sean Z. brings the whole package and destroys in every aspect of the word. He sounds killer on the new material. Now, we are stronger than ever and we look forward to hitting the road this summer.”
Daath are slated to enter the studio on March 1 to record "The Concealers" with producer Jason Suecof (Trivium, Chimaira) and Mark Lewis of Florida’s Audio Hammer studios manning the boards. Guitarist Eyal Levi is thrilled about finally moving forward saying, “We’ve been biding our time for 4 years in order to be able to finally make an album the right way. We’re looking forward to making a record that reflects what Daath is truly about.”
Indeed, Daath are a conceptual act, with the lyrics from "The Hinderers" revolving around the spiritual concept of the Tree of Life/Death. On the forthcoming The Concealers, the band will explore the shadowy world of deception, the forces concealing truth and how the human psyche weaves a web of illusion. With the new vocalist in place and a new album in the works, Daath are more than prepared to expose their
brand of thinking man’s metal to the masses.
Roadrunner Records UK reports:

This coming March (the 3rd day of the month no less!) it will become generally available and you will be able to pick it up in places such as ZAVVI, HMV, The Roadrage Stores and Amazon.co.uk.
