L.A. Guns Reveals New Live Album Details
L.A. Guns, featuring Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns, have announced the release of a new live album, "Cocked & Loaded Live" on July 9th 2021. As its title implies, it celebrates the band's much-loved second album, "Cocked & Loaded," and precedes the release of a brand new studio album from the group that is due this autumn.
It is no secret that the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has dealt a body blow to the entire live music business. With gig-goers joining everyone else within the music industry in eagerly awaiting a return to normality, many artists have meanwhile kept busy by bringing live music direct to the living rooms of their fans. In the case of L.A. Guns, they had just commenced work on a new studio album in November 2020, but decided to get together for one of the things they love most, which was to play a 'live' show. They announced a special gig at the Fremont Country Club in Las Vegas to celebrate the 31st anniversary of their second studio album, "Cocked and Loaded."
This one of a kind show was streamed worldwide, with viewers witnessing a killer show. Picking up from their previous incessant touring cycles and relieved to finally be on stage again, L.A. Guns tore through all the classic album tracks that fans know and love, including "Rip and Tear," "Never Enough," "The Ballad of Jayne," "I Wanna Be Your Man" and "Malaria," all wrapped up in a primal, visceral performance. The band also acknowledged the present and played ‘Speed’ from their more recent ‘The Missing Peace’ album.
"Cocked & Loaded" remains a gem of the late ‘80s, a special era in hard rock music, with these new renditions of timeless songs captured in a moment that none of us will ever forget. The album will be released on July 9th and is available for pre-order here. More...

L.A. Guns Posts New Music Video Online
L.A. Guns have premiered the video for the title track of their upcoming new album, The Devil You Know, out tomorrow, March 29th, via Frontiers Music Srl. Watch below, and pre-order The Devil You Know on CD/LP/Digital here. Signed LPs, limited edition red vinyl, merch bundles and more available from the band store. Limited edition yellow vinyl on offer at this location.
Sonically, The Devil You Know covers a lot of ground and incorporates influences from Black Sabbath to Led Zeppelin to Kyuss to The Hellicopters, all while distinctly sounding like L.A. Guns. The band is rejuvenated and inspired after relentless touring and are literally taking no prisoners.
"After the success of The Missing Peace, a lot of people requested that the next record stay on track with the more metal side of the band's music, which is my personal favorite side of the band," says Tracii Guns. He continues, "I drew from my typical influences of NWOBHM [New Wave Of British Heavy Metal], while still not forgetting my earlier influences of the late '60s and early '70s. I wanted to lead with the track "Stay Away" because it’s a familiar L.A. Guns sound, but even a bit more metal. Something to get everyone’s palate wet."
"It's loaded with attitude and most of it bad," says vocalist Phil Lewis of the album's lyrical content. "You want a love song ---- off and listen to Journey. They say write about what you know, and lord knows we've all known some evil bi----s and dudes that have gone out of their way to make life difficult for us. We say unanimously from the whole band ---- you, we're going places you could only dream about. We know what it's like to be put down, poked, ridiculed... but guess what, looks like we get the last laugh. This band has always been fueled by adrenaline and anger and this record is a glimpse inside the carnival of rage that dwells deep inside our collective souls. Not much sunshine and hold tight to your lollipop... this is gonna be a fast, loud, bumpy ride!" More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: Video Marathon
This week a real treat with (lucky) seven new videos featuring girls with cranium accessories, vampires, F-bombs, and of course, sass.
Ten's video for their single “Gunrunning” is from their new anticipated studio album entitled 'Heresy And Creed.' I can dig the black and white and the groovy sound (dig and groovy in the same sentence – yes, I’m high right now), but not so sure about the Michael Jackson style marching jacket. Also, the awkward lean into the guitar player makes me feel weird down there…

The Rockstar Ramblings: Dysfunction is my Business
Steven Adler (ex-Guns N’ Roses) is back with his new band named Adler and a new single titled “The One You Hated.” The band insists that the band is about a man/woman relationship and not what we all assume: heroin. Of course, I guess it could be about Axl Rose as well, or maybe the song is about Steven from the mindset of Celebrity Rehab’s Dr. Drew. Either way you look at it, Steven has an impressive memory catalog to pull inspiration from… More...

Sunday Old School: L.A. Guns
If you lived in Southern California during 1983 to present day there is a very good chance you have played for a band named L.A. Guns. I demand a VH1 Classic documentary on this phenomenon. I already have the title: "Eight is Enough: The story of nine albums and eight lead singers.”
This is the story of L.A. Guns.
To start we need to get the administrative part out of the way. Instead of populating every other sentence with a line-up change, here we go.
We will refer to the “Classic Line Up” of L.A. Guns as Phil Lewis, Tracii Guns, Mick Cripps, Kelly Nickels, Steve Riley. The “Steve Riley L.A. Guns” a.k.a. L.A. Guns #1 as Phil Lewis, Stacey Blades, Scott Griffin, Steve Riley and the “Tracii Guns L.A. Guns” a.k.a. L.A. Guns #2 as Jizzy Pearl, Tracii Guns, Doni Gray, Jeremy Guns. Recently Jizzy Pearl has left Tracii’s version of L.A. Guns, being replaced by Dilana Robichaux. So now the story is “Nine Lives: Nine albums, nine lead singers”.
Need a comprehensive list of lead singers? Why not, here they are: Phil Lewis, Jizzy pearl, Paul Black, Axl Rose, Michael Jagosz, Chris Van Dahl, Ralph Saenz, Marty Casey.
And finally other members (non lead singers) that at one time were members of L.A. Guns: Nickey Alexander, Ole Beich, Rob Gardner, Robert Stoddard, Michael Gershima, Johnny Crypt, Brent Muscat, Muddy, Keff Ratcliffe, Adam Hamilton, Keri Kelli, Scott Griffin, Kenny Kweens, Chad Stewart, Alec Bauer, Danny Nordahl.
Push the paper to the side and let’s see if we can figure out how this band bio grew to the size of a phone book. More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: The Power Ballads
Ever since Led Zeppelin released Stairway To Heaven, hard rock bands have showcased their sensitive spot through the power ballad. No genre exploited this format more than the eighties hair bands. A formula that started early: Release a heavy song, maybe two, and then release a ballad was a staple for the glam and spandex bands. This week we pay tribute to these songs. Despite a self imposed limit of one song per band, whittling down the list was a challenging. Let’s face it, no two top ten lists of this nature are ever the same. To assist, a sealed scorecard using lyrics, video presence, and longevity was used to determine the top ten power ballads. More...
