To-Mera Post New Song Online

A new song by TO-MERA — the U.K.-based dark progressive metal band formed by former WITHOUT FACE vocalist Julie Kiss (photo) and bassist Lee Barrett (ex-EXTREME NOISE TERROR, DISGUST, MUSSOLINI HEADKICK) — entitled "The Lie" has been posted on the group's MySpace page. The track comes off the band's forthcoming sophomore album, entitled "Delusions", due on February 18, 2008. "We are again working with Brett Caldas-Lima from Tower Studios," said Barrett. "The process of recording, including photos and video clips, was captured in this blog."

Regarding the new CD's musical direction, Barrett said, "All the elements present on [last year's "Transcendental"] have been greatly expanded upon. The music will display a much greater range of moods, tempos and dynamics (ranging from fragile subtlety to epic bombast via everything in between), whilst being simultaneously more sophisticated, yet more melodic and coherent than before. Julie's vocals have become substantially more versatile and powerful. There will be loads more guitar and keyboard (even drum!) solos. But most importantly, we feel this music has a much deeper and more genuine emotional impact to it. We're hoping the finished album will capture that."

To-Mera Find New Keyboardist

British progressive dark metallers TO-MERA have issued the following update:

"We're absolutly delighted to announce that Hen from the rather excellent HAKEN will be joining To-Mera (as well as continuing in Haken).

Hen is not only a very skillful keyboard player, but he's also a first class guitarist which will give us more options on the live front.

To-Mera Part Ways With Keyboardist

British progressive dark metallers TO-MERA have issued the following update:

"It’s with a deep degree of sadness that we have to announce the departure of Hugo Sheppard from To-Mera.

Hugo felt that he had been neglecting his own personal musical projects since his time in the band. With a fairly heavy upcoming schedule of touring and promotional work for the upcoming To-Mera album, he was unfortunately unable to commit his time and energy to both projects.

He’ll still be involved in the ongoing mixing process for the new record, and his last show with us will be when we support Fates Warning in London on November 21st.

As a band we wish to thank Hugo for sharing his talent with us for the past two years and we wish him the very best of luck with his future endeavors. It’s been a genuine pleasure to work with him.

We’ll now be looking for a replacement keyboard player, and are actively seeking applications from those who can meet at least most of the following requirements:

- A High level of technique and musicianship, incorporating a thorough understanding of harmony, rhythm, sight-reading etc.
- Ability/ desire to play in pretty much ANY style.
- Good improvisational ability.
- A good ear and ability to learn new material quickly
- A strong interest in composition.
- Must have own professional-standard equipment.
- Ability to commit to live shows/ touring as well as regular rehearsals in London.
- Please direct all applications to tomeraband@gmail.com"

To-Mera To Support Fates Warning In London

TO-MERA, the U.K.-based dark progressive metal band formed by former WITHOUT FACE vocalist Julie Kiss (photo) and bassist Lee Barrett (ex-EXTREME NOISE TERROR, DISGUST, MUSSOLINI HEADKICK), will support FATES WARNING on November 21 at The Underworld, Camden, England.

In other news, TO-MERA has finished recording the follow-up to last year's "Transcendental" and is currently mixing the effort for a February 18, 2008 release. To-Mera To Enter The Studio Soon, Issue Updated

Lee Barrett, bassist of British progressive metallers TO-MERA, has issued the following update:

"Well, we've got eight new songs in various states of completion. Titles confirmed so far include 'The Lie', 'A Sorrow To Kill', 'Merry-Go-Round' and 'Asylum'. Working titles (i.e. these could change!) include 'Temptation' and 'A Silver Key'.

"We will start the recording process on August 21st, again using Brett Caldas-Lima who produced the debut 'Transcendental'. Recording will take place near Oxford, England at a purpose built rehearsal studio (which is a bit better than the 'back room of a pub' like last time, hehe).

"The music's definitely going in a heavier direction. I know most bands say this, but since Tom [MacLean, guitar] is writing a majority of the stuff with his seven-string baritone tuned to F# it's definitely true. The songs are also going to be considerably more complex and roundly structured than before. All the parts that have become 'typically' TO-MERA are still going to be there only much more so in every possible way. There's more fluidity and emotional depth to the new songs. We're all more than happy with the way things are working out.

"You may be pleased to know the average song time is still hitting the seven-minute mark!”

TO-MERA's debut album, "Transcendental", was released in Europe on September 11 via Candlelight Records. A U.S. release followed in early October.
