Portuguese avant-garde metal band Thanatoschizo has decided to split due to artistic differences.
In a statement on the band's Facebook page: "Fourteen years of commitment, a lot of work and dedication prove that we were able to keep at bay the geographical handicap and that people believed we weren’t a mere band. However, there comes a time when the greatest change has to occur, in order to evolve even more. This is the time for TSO’s members to fly elsewhere and find other projects.
"To all of you who have supported us throughout our career, our most sincere gratitude. TSO’s official site, facebook, myspace and other channels will continue to be updated with reviews to our latest album and the merchandise section will still be active.
"Although TSO is over, the feeling is unanimous: Origami is our greatest achievement."
Thanatoschizo has posted a new video blog online from the recording of the band's new album "Origami," which can be viewed below. The band also commented:
"ThanatoSchizO has just posted the fourth and last short video portraying Origami's recording, their fifth album. The vlog focuses on the song RAWoid, which features many guests and highlights the voices, the balalaica, the cavaquinho and the percussions."
ThanatoSchizO has issued the following announcement about streaming a new song online from the band's upcoming album "Origami:"
"ThanatoSchizO have just divulged the advanced song from Origami, their 5th album, which will come out on January 2011. The chosen track is (Un)bearable Certainty that was originally released in the 2008 record – Zoom Code - and now has the collaboration of Fadomorse's Hugo Correia. The theme can be downloaded at this location or listened to online streaming through the band’s renewed Myspace that will present a lot of new things, including photos of the new line-up.
"After ten years with a stable set of members, TSO is now reduced to a quartet. Patrícia, Guilhermino, Filipe and Paulo will be joined on stage by two session members, who will be revealed in due time. Concerning this, Guilhermino has said the following: 'In the middle of the recording process and after the guitars’ tracking, Eduardo approached us to announce that he had the need to leave the group to focus on his other artistic passion: the plastic arts. In that time, we had to ponder which was the path to follow and the natural solution was clear: Patrícia should be taking on the main vocals role from that moment on and I would take care of the backing vocals. The whole departure procedure was cordial and the friendship has remained intact. In Miguel’s case, he also recorded the album’s bass guitar but, due to professional reasons, he is abroad and that makes it impossible for him to be present in live performances, which could be dully noted both at Teatro de Vila Real and Ermal Festival in 2009. The rehearsals are going smoothly and I can guarantee to our fans that the session members’ choice was not taken lightly. After all, this band is an important part of our lives and we wouldn’t make a careless decision.'"

Portugal's ThanatoSchizO has issued the following announcement about releasing a new album entitled "Origami:"
"The new album will be called Origami and is set to be released in October by Major Label Industries. This semi-acoustic CD will include guest appearances from the likes of Fadomorse, Banda de Música de Mateus (brass and woodwind ensemble), alongside many other surprises, such as the use of instruments like the theremin, cavaquinho and balalaika.
"As previously disclosed, the new album is going to comprise songs from previous records but with a different touch, approach and edge to them. The more harsh and heavy melodies are going to give place to a more acoustic, experimental and ethnic side of the band’s enterprise.
“In this album you will encounter a different side of the band and discover that each musician has taken on a journey of self-discovery through music. The recording process was very pungent, rewarding, rich and exciting. No emotions were left out and what you will listen to is what we truly feel about previously recorded songs that hold a tremendous meaning to us." More...
