Decrepit Birth Checks In From Summer Slaughter

Decrepit Birth is currently embarked on the Summer Slaughter North American tour. “So far, so good,” commented vocalist Bill Robinson. “We are very happy with all the positive feedback to our new CD Polarity. As usual southern California kicked ass. Always a great time. All in all, every show as been very good. Other than having to miss playing Ft. Worth and Houston, TX due to a serious family issue, we have been having a blast.

"I would have to say that the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA was the best show of the tour yet. For one, our new CD Polarity was finally released but best of all it was Joel, our bassists 21st birthday again. Bastard! The audience was extremely into the entire show. Every band had an amazing crowd response. I would have to say that we/Joel had the loudest response of the night as EVERYONE in the venue chanted happy birthday to Joel’s eternal 21st. Looking forward to the rest of the tour and running into all our friends, old and new. STAY BRUTAL!”

Decrepit Birth recently uploaded the track “(A Departure of the Sun) Ignite the Tesla Coil” to the band's newly designed Myspace page. The song comes from the band's new album "Polarity."

Tomorrow's Summer Slaughter Date Changing Venue

The organizers of the Summer Slaughter tour have issued the following update about changing venues for tomorrow's show:

"Summer Slaughter tour in El Paso Tomorrow (Tuesday, July 20th) forced to move to Las Cruces, NM @ Beverly Hills Club due to shady owner of Club 101! Many of you may have noticed that The 4th Annual Summer Slaughter Festival in El Paso was advertised and on sale at Club 101 for quite some time. The owner was recently offered a Buckcherry show on the same day and outright canceled Summer Slaughter to replace it with Buckcherry because 'his bar sales would be much higher.'

"That is the crappiest thing you can do in this business and it really is despicable that he would be willing to screw over 10 touring bands and hundreds of fans out of greed for alcohol sales. Please spread the word to everyone you can about the new venue info for Summer Slaughter in El Paso/Las Cruces."

The tour includes Cephalic Carnage, The Faceless, Decrepit Birth, All Shall Perish, The Red Chord, Veil of Maya, and more.

Decrepit Birth Reveals Album Artwork

Santa Cruz CA’s tech-death metallers Decrepit Birth have revealed the artwork for their upcoming "Polarity" album, which is to be released on July 27th in North America on Nuclear Blast Records. The artwork was completed by artist Dan Seagrave and can be viewed through Decibel Magazine.

Guitarist Matt Sotelo explained the meaning behind the cover: "Dan's art fits the overall theme of the album perfectly. We had approached Dan with some ideas at a show of ours he attended. It was really cool to finally meet Dan in person and get the chance to explain to him some of our song themes as well as ideas for the new album cover. We could tell that he was excited to help us on this one! The cover depicts images of ancient energies and balance, which is something that is personal for us, and perfectly reflects our abstract lyrical and musical style. Dan's art is so unmistakable!"

Artist Dan Seagrave offered an even more in depth reasoning behind his artistic interpretation: “It is the vision of a transcendental nightmare. where the perception of technological power has gone beyond the will of the author. In the slumbering cohesive minds of the human race, and the absence of communicative truth between people, their social masks become their Sarcophagi. A telepathic cult is formed that fells the earth, reducing it to an atomic level. Its information trapped in mirrored shards. Through this energy, distant echos of images are glimpsed, particles reform, and a new chronozone period is born, set adrift at a dawnless epoch.”

The director Anki, had a great vision of what she wanted to do. We had a chance to preview some of the footage, and we couldn't be more pleased with what we saw! It was about time for us to do a video and we are glad we had such awesome conditions to shoot our first. Get ready!"

Ann Christin "Anki" Rihm added: “Decrepit Birth is no ordinary death metal band and my goal was to capture that. I chose to build the set in an as natural environment/setting as possible and put much effort into how to light the set to give the video the exact look and feeling I wanted. My main focus was to make it seem as organic and natural as possible but keeping an developing change that turns into a very massive final look. The video was shot for 12 hours straight in the desert 3 hours outside LA. The guys were incredibly easy to work with and we had so much fun and a very good time making this video!”

Drums for Polarity were recorded at Sharkbite Studios with producer Zack Ohren while all other tracking was handled by Matt Sotelo before being mixed by Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios. Guitarist Matt Sotelo commented on the new material as well as their being added to this years Summer Slaughter tour:
