Evile Guitarist To Bungee Jump For Charity

In March 2010, Evile guitarist Ol Drake issued the following statement upon realizing his band had been nominated for a Metal Hammer Golden God award: "If we win, I promise we will do a bungee jump, dressed as cowboys. I'm writing that without checking if anyone else will do it, but that's how I roll. But I definitely will."

After winning the Metal Hammer Golden God "Metal as Fuck" award, Ol Drake will now be bungee jumping for charity dressed as a cowboy. Accompanying him will be Alexander Milas, editor of Metal Hammer magazine and winner of 2009 "PPA Editor of the Year" award. A video clip of the bungee jump location can be viewed below. Ol Drake will be jumping in aid of the British Lung Foundation, in memory of late Evile bassist Mike Alexander. More information on the charity can be found here. Alexander Milas will be jumping in aid of the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout cancer charity, in memory of Dio. The bungee jump will take place in September 2010. More...

Friday means another round of songs added to the ever growing Rock Band Network, and this week is now exception. Although many previous metal additions to the network have leaned more towards the rock and metalcore end, this week sees some honest-to-Satan real extreme metal. So pull out those drum pads and warm up your vocal chords, because it's time to convince your neighbors hell has spilled onto Earth with live versions of Emperor's "Curse You All Men!" and "Inno a Satana" (although I can't imagine the bass player will be doing much).

Mike Alexander Memorial Show Footage Available

In October 2009 Evile's bassist, Mike Alexander, passed away while on tour in Sweden at the age of 32. Two months after his death, in December 2009, Evile arranged two memorial shows (Leeds & London) to honor the memory of Mike and to raise money for his family. Below are videos of the entire covers set, including messages read out from Mike's family and Earache Records, at the Mike Alexander Memorial Show in London on December 8th, 2009.

Evile lead guitarist, Ol Drake, had the following to say: "The two nights we did in December meant so much to us all. It was our own way of saying goodbye to our friend, Mike. We attended his funeral with his family and friends, and it was a good ceremony, but we wanted something we know Mike would have loved; two nights of Metal. It was tough to get back on stage again without looking over and seeing him there, as that's what we'd all seen on stage for the past 10/11 years. I don't think people realize how long we all played together. We still miss Mike dearly and can't believe he's gone. Thank you to everyone involved in helping us make these nights happen, and thank you to everyone for coming and paying your respects. I hope you enjoy these videos!" More...

Tom Fischer Wins Golden God Award In London

Thomas G. Fischer (aka Tom G. Warrior,) the founder of the legendary metal bands Celtic Frost and Hellhammer, and most recently Triptykon, was honoured in London this week when he received the prestigious Golden God award for inspiration. The award was presented to him at the Indigo2/O2 Arena by Cathedral frontman Lee Dorrian. When accepting the award, Fischer stated:

"In my opinion, however, I don't deserve this award. It should instead go to Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Angel Witch, and Venom, artists who have inspired me and without whom I would not be here tonight."

Evile Issues Tour Report

British thrashers EVILE are getting well acquainted with the American touring circuit, having just finished a North American tour with German legends KREATOR and now making their way around once again with New Jersey's OVERKILL.

EVILE are currently in the midst of the Killfest tour, which also features VADER, GOD DETHRONED, WARBRINGER and WOE OF TYRANTS.

EVILE lead guitarist OL DRAKE reports from the tour:

"Currently sat in bed in a Japanese hotel in San Francisco. This place is awesome! Love San Francisco. We played the Regent Ballroom last night and had a brilliant time. We felt very welcomed, and in such an amazing venue. Me and Ben walked around San Fran at about 3am looking for food - we even tried to be a car to go through the Burger King drive-thru. Day off today
as the Vegas show was cancelled (boo!) and to be honest I need it. I ate some American fish n' chips, and that didn't go down well. As I've said before, leave fish n' chips to England!"

"Got a lot of ideas for album 3 - we basically have the title and album art concept decided too. Got a very good feeling about the new material!" More...

Kreator with Voivod at The Bottom Lounge

Thrash is back. After dying off in the 1990s and returning in the mid-2000s it's finally returned, with four of five bands playing coming from metal's most headbangable genre. And it was a very special night given that two of the bands touring were originally local bands, one based in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the other from Wheaton, Illinois which proves that the Chicago metal scene has finally come into its own rather than simply live in the shadow of Ministry and Disturbed. Kreator and Evile Pack Nokia Theater in New York

On March 6, 2010 I went to see Kreator perform at the Nokia Theater in New York City. I was very eager to see Evile, Voivod, and Kreator. I have been a fan of Kreator for some time now, but have only heard one album, “Extreme Aggression.” Evile is a band I was interested in seeing because I have their demo, but have yet to explore much outside of what is on their MySpace page. Voivod has been recommended to me by friends, but I’ve never taken the time to properly explore them. When I arrived at the venue, Lazarus A.D. started playing. More...

Kreator Comments on North American Tour Dates

Mille Petrozza, front man & guitarist for German thrash stalwarts KREATOR, shares an update on the band’s upcoming North American tour. The 23-date trek coincides with KREATOR’s 25th anniversary and launched yesterday March 3rd at Jaxx in West Springfield, Virginia:

“Right now we are rehearsing our new 2010 anniversary set list. There’s a lot of new stuff that we had to re-learn, some songs we haven't played in a while, plus different stuff from the last album we didn't play at shows in 2009. Thanks for the thousands of votes in our forum regarding the anniversary set list! Of course we can’t play all the requested songs in a ninety minute set, but there will definitely be some tracks that may surprise a couple of you, so be prepared!

"Looking forward to playing with our long-time friends in Voïvod again on our upcoming tour. It will take us all across North America and Canada once again. Can’t wait to see Evile, Kataklysm, Nachtmystium, Lightning Swords of Death and Lazarus A.D., as well. This will be a night of total violence, so be there!!!"

"Also, a big THANK YOU to our German fans for making Hordes Of Chaos 2009's ‘Record of the Year’ in Germany’s most important magazine - Rock Hard! Ihr seid die besten!” More...
