U.K. Thrash Documentary Posts Trailer Online

A new trailer has been posted online for the forthcoming documenary film, "A History Of A Time To Come," which looks at the thrash metal scene and history in the United Kingdom. You can check it out below. The film makers have also announced that a book tie-in will be released, written by journalist Greg Mofitt, who has written for Metal Hammer and Terrorizer amongst other publications.

"In 2003 I had the idea to set out the story of U.K. thrash," Greg explains. "I lived through the scene as a teenager and felt that although the U.K. was the underdog compared to, say, the US and Germany, there was still a great tale to tell. It’s a story of the British bulldog spirit facing down adversity and in that sense U.K. thrash was typical of the nation. With few exceptions, British thrash bands received very little global coverage back in the day, so this is also a largely untold story. When I originally devised the book concept, U.K. thrash was nothing but a dusty chapter in history. Today, things are quite different. The scene has sparked into life once again and veteran outfits continue to reform, some sounding better than ever. When I heard about the 'A History of a Time to Come' documentary and met the guys behind it, all the pieces finally fell into place and the timing was perfect."

Speaking on the book, the film makers stated: "We’re delighted to be working in tandem with Greg on the project, and especially excited to see how the two projects will compliment each other. One of our concerns from the outset was that perhaps the film format would limit our ability to convey the story of the scene in enough depth to satisfy the fans, but with the introduction of the written story we feel confident that everyone, from hardcore fan to the casual cinema- goer will find their level of interest covered."

Both the film and the book are still in the production stages and anyone who feels they might be able to contribute in some way, be it with first hand stories, video/audio materials or pictures etc. is encouraged to get in touch. More...

Evile Announces New Album Title

British thrashers Evile have officially revealed that their forthcoming new album will be titled "Five Serpent's Teeth." Evile recorded the new album at Parlour Studios in Kettering, UK, with producer Russ Russel, who also recorded the band's previous release, 2009's "Infected Nations." Vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matt Drake has recorded a video message for the fans, in which he discusses the new album and the concept behind it.

Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake comments on the album:

"The other day, Russ sent the final masters for the album over. It sounded even better than I expected it to. The past two years of hard work, and the work put in in the studio, have really paid off. The few people who've heard the album so far have praised it highly, making me, and us, very proud. The album has such a unique production sound which surprised me; Russ' skills have really shined on this record. It has an old classic sound, while staying huge and menacing. Keep an eye out for all things Evile, as 2011 will be a very busy year for us. See you on A road!"

"Five Serpent's Teeth" is due to be released on Earache Records on August 29th, 2011.

Brian Posehn To Guest On New Evile Album

British thrash metal outfit Evile has announced that American comedian Brian Posehn will be appearing on the band's forthcoming, as yet-untitled new studio album, where he will be providing backing vocals. Speaking on the collaboration, Posehn stated:

"I'm very excited that my yelling will be featured on the next Evile disc; they're one of my favorite newish bands and, in my not-so-humble opinion, the British saviors of thrash metal!"

The album is scheduled to be released later this year through Earache Records and will be the first to feature new bass player Joel Graham, following the tragic death of the group's original bassist Mike Alexander in 2009. The band has also posted the final part in a series of videos documenting the recording of the album, which can be seen below. More...

You can watch the newest video, including a cover of Rebecca Black's infamous song, "Friday", below.

Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake speaks from the studio:

"Having a lot of fun tracking this album. Yesterday our manager, Julie, came to visit and listen to a few tracks. Her reaction was very positive, so even more great vibes going around. All drums done, nearly all bass done, all rhythm guitars done, all guitar harmonies done. We're starting guitar solos today, and vocals are well on their way.

"All I can say is, I love the stuff on this album. Out of the three albums we've done so far, I've had the most fun on this, and this is the most creative we've been in terms of writing. Simply can't wait for people to get the completed package!"

Evile To Enter The Studio

British thrashers Evile are set to enter the studio this weekend to begin recording their third album. Evile will be playing a show in London this Friday, 18th March with Chthonic, before heading to Prestatyn, Wales on Saturday for a performance at Hammerfest. The band will then be heading into Parlour Studios on Sunday to begin recording the follow-up to 2009's "Infected Nations," and will once again be working with producer Russ Russell.

Evile lead guitarist Ol Drake comments:

"This has been one hell of a 2011 already. We've been working non-stop on the material for Evile's third album since early last year, and the past few months saw the workload pile up drastically. We're on top of it though.

"Tomorrow we play London with our friends Chthonic from Taiwan, then we head over to Prestatyn for Hammerfest. Just like with Infected Nations, we're again heading to the studio shortly after playing Hammerfest, though this time it's the very day after. To the great Parlour Studios we will venture along with the even greater Russ Russell. He was at the helm/desk/brain for 'Infected Nations', and we see him as a member of the band, even more so on this third offering. We'll be in there for approximately a month, and we'll be focusing on roughly ten tracks to delight your ears.

"If I was to say what the direction of this third album would be, I'd have to say a mix of the approach to 'Enter the Grave', the ideas on 'Infected Nations' and an amalgamation of brand new ideas we can't wait to try out. We have to try out new things as artists; we don't ever ever want to stick to doing the same thing all the time. It will be aggressive yet mature, in my opinion, and before your ask - yes, fast."

Catch Evile live at the following shows:

March 18 - London, UK - The Underworld
March 19 - Prestatyn, UK - Hammerfest
June 10-12 - Donington, UK - Download Festival
July 17 - Vizovice, Czech Republic - Masters of Rock
July 23-24 - London, UK - High Voltage Festival

Evile Comments On High Voltage Festival

British thrashers Evile have been confirmed to play at this year's High Voltage festival, which takes place on July 23rd and 24th at Victoria Park in London, UK. Evile was also among the latest bands to be recently announced for the UK's Download festival, as well as Masters of Rock in the Czech Republic.

Evile bassist Joel Graham comments: "It's awesome to be added to the High Voltage festival - for the name Evile to be on the same poster that contains the such legendary names of Judas Priest, Jethro Tull, Dream Theater and Queensryche is an absolute mind f**k... It's amazing. More than a couple of us in Evile are prog fans so I'm sure we'll be hanging around the Prog Stage a lot.

"For me personally, I became a huge Jethro Tull fan after doing a deal with my father; he agreed to take me to see Anthrax when I was about 11, if in return he could take me to see Tull around the same time, so he got me hooked. Ol (Drake) also has a very uncanny likeness to a young Ian Anderson, so I'm hoping they bump into each other over the weekend."

You can visit Evile's artist page on the High Voltage website at this location.

Evile To Play Download Festival

British thrashers Evile are among the latest artists to be confirmed for this year's edition of the Download festival, which takes place 10-12 June at Donington Park. Evile will be performing alongside the likes of such acts as Def Leppard and System of a Down.

Evile drummer Ben Carter comments: "Evile are both honoured and excited to be making our first appearance at Download this year! Donington has been the spiritual home of rock and metal for so many years, now finally we can make our mark there and become part of that legacy. I've attended Download in the past, and seen many bands perform on the smaller stages and go on to huge success, and I think that's what Download can do for a band. There's something about the place that's special, so we're all so eager to get on stage and have our Download moment! BRING IT ON!"
