Huntington Beach, California's HED p.e. (the p.e. stands for “planet earth") was founded in 1994 by front man Jahred (a.k.a. M.C.U.D., a.k.a. Jerred Shaine), whose goal was to fuse the region's long-standing punk rock heritage with G-funk-inflected hip-hop -- a sound he labeled "G-punk." Three years and a self-financed 1995 E.P. entitled Church of Realities later, HED p.e. (also comprising lead guitarist Wesstyle , rhythm guitarist Chizad, bassist Mawk, drummer B.C. and DJ Product on turntables and samples) released their eponymous debut through Jive Records, then hit the road with Ozzfest and bands like Korn, Static-X, and System of a Down. A second album, Broke, followed in the year 2000, and a third, Blackout, in 2003, after which HED p.e. switched labels from Jive to Koch, and underwent something of an overhaul (welcoming new guitarist Jaxon and drummer Moke) prior to recording their fourth album, 2005's Only in Amerika.

Frontman Jared Gomes says of the song: "The new song 'Ordo Ab Chao' is a song about the hierarchy on this planet, and how the Inner Circle turns us against each other; by creating chaos, then providing their own brand of order. It is a first of many songs on our new album 'New World Orphans' (NWO) which deals with the Shadow Government. This new album 'NOW' is a concept album, in that each song relates to the main theme, which is the New World Orphans. We outsiders who dont very much like the idea of genocide and big government control."

According to a news article on Mother Jones, music by bands including Deicide (who's song "Fuck Your God" is declared the most used), Dope, Drowning Pool, Metallica, AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, Hedpe and others has been used in American military prisons and on bases as torture devices.
