"The Big Shiny Prison" Re-Released For Free
Underground journalist Ryan Bartek has just re-released the book "The Big Shiny Prison (Volume One)" as a free PDF Download. Featuring new cover art and a redesigned look, this new version finally does visual justice to the original.
The product of one year spent traveling the USA underground, "The Big Shiny Prison (Volume One)" is a genre-bending work of nonfiction that is at once a road book and a journalistic expose on American counterculture as well.
In "The Big Shiny Prison (Volume One)" Bartek makes it through 35 states, spends 600+ hours on Greyhounds while interviewing a variety of celebrities, musicians, journalists and travelers. Covering all forms of counterculture with a heavy emphasis on extreme metal & hardcore punk, “The Big Shiny Prison” refuses to become a stereotypical “music book.” It instead falls into the category of the autobiographical road novel using a relevant approach that appeals to both the average reader & the critical academia.
Originally released on 11/15/09, the book features interviews/appearances by DWARVES, Brutal Truth, Pig Destroyer, MDC, Repulsion, Psyopus, Cephalic Carnage, Downtown Brown, HIMSA, Atheist, Foxy Shazam, STALAGGH, Absymal Dawn, Ludicra, The Angelic Process, AxCx & many more. More...

Metal Videos To Get You In The Halloween Mood 4
All Hallow’s Eve has finally arrived and it’s just about time to get the debauchery going full swing. Whether you’re getting the altar set up for a black mass or you just plan on drinking until werewolves and vampires seem like legitimate concerns, there’s a host of metal videos to help get the evening started right.
Earlier this month we showcased horror themed videos that went way over the top, focused on the devil and his minions, and then dipped into the atmopsheric and creepy videos. Now that Halloween is here we’ll finish off with monsters, serial killers, and even a few bonus clips.
Bleeding Through – “Kill To Believe”
The “Kill To Believe” video is like its own little mini redneck hillbilly horror movie. If you’ve seen all the “Wrong Turn” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” movies a couple dozen times, this one’s for you.

Havok Comments On Upcoming Tour Dates
Denver thrash warriors Havok will embark on another punishing support trek this Fall alongside headliners Exhumed, Goatwhore, and Cephalic Carnage. Set to commence on October 26th in New Mexico, the tour will lay waste to nearly two dozen cities and come to a close in Flagstaff, Arizona on November 20th.
Said vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez: “I’m fuckin’ psyched! This lineup is HEAVY! I’m a fan of all of the bands that we’ll be playing with, so this is gonna be really fun. Even better, we finally get to tour with Cephalic Carnage. It will be cool to show people how bands from Denver throw down. If this tour is anything like our last run with Forbidden, there are going to be some gnarly pits and bloody noses. Anyone that’s going to these shows should be prepared to have a sore neck.”
Added drummer Pete Webber: “We are pumped to announce our tour with Exhumed, Goatwhore and Cephalic Carnage this Fall! Our last tour with Forbidden was one of the best yet and we hope to keep the heat going with this one! We will be hitting some cities where HAVOK has not played in awhile and you all better show your metal faces there!”
