The Polish death/black metal tyrants from Azarath today premiere a brand new song from their upcoming album "In Extremis," set to be released on April 7th via Agonia Records.
Available in a form of a lyric video, "At The Gates Of Understanding" is the first single to be released from the album. It arrives six long years after the band's last installment, "Blasphemers' Maledictions" from 2011.
The lyric video for "At The Gates Of Understanding" was created by Tomasz Strzalkowski and can be watched below. More...
Polish black/death metal group and recent Agonia Records signee Azarath is ready to move forward with new music. On April 7th, the band (featuring drummer Inferno of long-time Behemoth fame) will return with a new album titled "In Extremis."
The eerie painting that adorns the album's cover was made by Marta Prominska (Hypnagogic Painting). Meaning "at the point of death" or "under extreme circumstances" in Latin, "In Extremis" is yet another apex reached by Azarath.
Offering a vehement ride through the netherworlds, the effort arrives six long years after its predecessor, "Blasphemers' Maledictions" (2011). Recorded in various locations between March and November 2016, the opus was mixed and mastered by Haldor Grunberg at Satanic Audio. The track listing is as follows:
1. The Triumph of Ascending Majesty
2. Let My Blood Become His Flesh
3. Annihilation (Smite All the Illusions)
4. The Slain God
5. At the Gates of Understanding
6. Parasu Blade
7. Sign of Apophis
8. Into the Nameless Night
9. Venomous Tears (Mourn of the Unholy Mother)
10. Death More...
Polish black/death metal tyrants Azarath has signed a new record deal with Agonia Records. The latest release with the label was the 2009 offering "Praise The Beast." The band is expected to release a new album, the successor to "Blasphemers' Maledictions" from six years ago, this April.
Azarath's brand of death metal is crisp, black, and while it possesses the charm of American counterparts, it remains open-minded and organic. This should not come as a surprise, considering the band's impressive line-up and cemented position as one the the best Polish acts of the genre.
Azarath crept from the shadows almost two decades ago, by the will of Inferno (of longtime Behemoth fame) and then-members Bruno and D. Six albums later, the band's line-up is shaped by the said Behemoth drummer, together with Bart (Armagedon, Damnation) on guitars, Necrosodom (Anima Damnata, Deus Mortem, ex-Infernal War) on vocals and guitars, as well as Peter (ex-Lost Soul) on bass.
After rejoining forces with Agonia Records, Azarath is ready to shed some blood upon the altar once again in 2017. More...

The cover artwork and layout for Azarath's new album "Blasphemer's Maledictions" was painted and designed by Zbigniew M. Bielak (Absu, Watain, Destroyer666, Autopsy), who comments on his impressions in this way: "A new album, a new Azarath. At any given angle - Art Nouveau. Perverse ornaments, masses of air, venomous malevolence in seemingly soothing forms... Forging these virtues into an image was indeed quite some challenge, even though some seeds of the vision were already couple years old. 'Blasphemers' Maledictions' is indeed an unexpectedly crisp waft in the steadily disappointing deathmetal milieu, alas - to anticipate teutonic translation - a WICHTIG Hour strikes!"
The fifth Azarath album will be released worldwide by Witching Hour Productions in June 2011 as exclusive digibook and limited 12' LP. The track listing and details on streaming a new song from the album are available here. More...

The yet untitled full-length album will be released on 6th of June 2011 by Witching Hour Productions.
"Recently Azarath underwent some personal changes - Necrosodom (guitar and vocals) replaced Bruno. Bass duties are now handled by P. Music was composed and arranged by Inferno and Bart, while Necrosodom wrote all the lyrics. 10 new devilish hymns were recorded for this album. The character and atmosphere of music was changed considerably. The music is dark, ominous and spatial – in many parts refers to Black Metal and classics of the genre. Aggression and sonic massacre is not lacking at all - as this is our main frontline. More...

Guitarist Thrufel (AZARATH, YATTERING) has issued the following update regarding his MASACHIST project, also featuring Daray (drummer of VADER, VESANIA and NEOLITHIC):
"We are currently recording our debut album 'Death March Fury' at Progresja studio in Warsaw [Poland]. So far we have recorded the drum and guitar parts. As for the drums, I have to say that Daray totaly outdid himself this time. Absolute fury, violence and bone breaking! In his own words, he has never before recorded such insane drum lines, and I must add that this album will once again prove that he truly deserves to wear that black belt of extreme drumming!!! I have played with many amazing drummers, including Zombek (YATTERING), Inferno and recently Adam from LOST SOUL (awesome death metal band), but fuck! Right now Daray is simply the best! Non-believers will soon be proven wrong" More...
MASACHIST is a band formed by Thrufel (guitarist known from AZARATH and YATTERING) and Daray (drummer of VADER, VESANIA and NEOLITHIC).
A posting on the band's official website states:
"The idea of creating MASACHIST has been in my mind for years but it finally took its shape after meeting Daray in 2005. Convergent music tastes and views on playing extreme sounds resulted in a will to create something new, fresh and different from what we've been playing with our bands.
Due to Daray's responsibilities in VADER we could not rehearse regularly. Nevertheless, our determination resulted in writing a promising material. So far we have recorded drum tracks for our two-song promo. You can find a sample of it here. The rest of the material should be recorded sometime in January '07.
We would like to stress that it is not just a brief cooperation. We are currently working on a full-length album. More details coming soon. Stay tuned!"
