Below is our complete Across Tundras news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Following the "Sage" album, released in 2011 by Neurot Recordings, the new LP from Nashville trio Across Tundras is set for harvest on the band’s newly founded D.I.Y. label. The following press release was issued about the upcoming "Electric Relics" album:
"On the new LP Electric Relics, Across Tundras take their ever-expanding style of modern Americana further into the same westerly direction they’ve been traversing for the past few years, organically fusing their swells of post-doom into Spaghetti Western soundtracks and meandering blues/rock jam sessions.
"A wide variety of sounds seamlessly mingle throughout the slow motion base founding guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Tanner Olson, percussionist Casey Perry and bassist/vocalist Mikey Allred (Hellbender) lay down, Allred also contributing pianos/organs, synthesizers, mellotron, trombone and more, and his brother Joey (Hellbender) contributing guest slide guitar and vocals.
"Additionally, Perry hand constructed the scale model landscape for the cover art, with Olson handling the graphic design and layout. Across Tundras recorded Electric Relics at their expansive Ramble Hill Farm in February, and is releasing it on their own label of the same name, making it a fully self-managed D.I.Y. release."
As the band states: "Electric Relics is our humble offering placed at the crossroads of past, present, and future tense. Age-old energies and three phase electric power intersect to reveal hidden truths of bygone times, modern mysticisms, and sound the alarm for uncertain days to come. We walk through this shadowy land in search of a spark to light the fire and illuminate the depths of consciousness.” More...
Cavity Records has announced April 20th as the release date for a special split LP between Across Tundras and Lark's Tongue.
"Consisting of two absolutely epic songs from each American band, the Across Tundras/Lark's Tongue split LP is the first collaboration between these two groups. Across Tundras was born on the Western High Prairie and has been sighted recently in the hills north of Nashville, TN.
"Countless mysterious audio artifacts and sonic expeditions have been made by the un-herd collective since their inception in 2003, both delighting and bewildering musical excavators who have encountered the aural, physical, and meta-evidence of this pastoral beast.Hailing from the Midwest, Lark's Tongue formed in 2010 of seasoned travelers informed by all manners of cosmic pursuits. They conjure heavy, layered psychedelia with an emphasis on harmony and narrative, atop beguiling squalls of guitar, shimmering keys, and a thick low-end.
"This split marks the coming-together of two bands with di?erent styles but similar influences, and will give the listener visions of Panoramic Country Crush, Cosmic Blues, Vintage Psychedelia, Terrestrial Drone, and Rural Heaviness. The priest dream is a siren song to suffer, illuminating the pathways where fear and bliss become one. What starts with pleasure endures in alarm, and only your eyes can look straight at the sun..." The seven-song album, entitled "Sage," is now officially confirmed for North American release on May 17th, 2011. Neurot label owner, Neurosis’ Steve Von Till, exposes a bit of insight on the new album: "Lurking somewhere between unearthed, aged, haunted Americana and the psychedelic sludge scraped from the edges of the cosmos, Across Tundras’ new artifact Sage explores new territory, that while at once, rooted in history, and soaked firmly in the rich soil they cultivate, rises above the arcane to the sound of what will become."
The "Sage" track listing is as follows:
1. In the Name of River Grand
2. Hijo de Desierto
3. Buried Arrows
4. The Book of Truth
5. Tchulu Junction
6. Mean Season Movin’ On
7. Shunka Sapa

Tennessee metal band ACROSS TUNDRAS has announced their signing with Neurot Recordings.
Stated Neurot/Neurosis' Steve Von Till on the signing, "It is with great honor that Neurot Recordings welcomes Across Tundras to our home. Their past releases have shown immense dedication to spirit and commitment to growth and sonic evolution. Those are traits that we admire and look for when declaring kinship among those also on the quest for emotional release through sound."
ACROSS TUNDRAS' Tanner Olson this week also made a statement on their induction into Neurot's family, "The opportunity to stand alongside such a talented and driven group of artists and musicians is something we have been working along time for. Neurot Recordings releases the most inspired and original music out there, and its a huge compliment that they see us as kindred musical spirits. Eternal gratitude to the Neurot family for believing in us and giving a proper home to our nomadic sounds."

North Carolina doom metal band BLACK SKIES, who kicked off their US tour July 1st, are currently with a new lineup and new songs. Founding members Kevin Clark and Michelle Temple are joined by recent recruit, ex-Des Ark drummer Tim Herzog.
Said Michelle from the road, "The our is going great! In Pittsburgh, Chicago and Iowa City where we've played before and people have seen the band's various lineups, the new material has been very well-received, some saying it's our best yet! This was our first time as a band to Columbus and Madison. Both shows went really well and we plan to make these regular stops on future tours. We've made new friendships with some great bands as well. My personal favorite so far was Rebreather from Youngstown. Awesome guys and amazing band! We have the night off tonight (July 6th), our only day off during the 24-day tour, so we're going to find a good spot to camp somewhere then it's off to Denver to play with Black Lamb! We're looking forward to getting back at it and playing every night until the tour ends in Nashville. We all feel very grateful for everyone's support and for the ability to be able to do this!" "Over the past year FER has gone through alot of changes and misfortunes," comments A Clearer Sky Recordings. "Being understaffed and overwhelmed things got out of control (too busy, with little help). Since A Clearer Sky started as an affiliate of FER 3 years ago, we thought it be best to purchase their remaining inventory. A Clearer Sky Recordings is run and operated by several very dedicated individuals and has been around since early 2007. As of mid 2009 A Clearer Sky began running as a seperate label completely independent of FER with our own distribution and releases. Many thanks to everyone at FER for getting us our start, and helping us along."
"We are currently looking for a few new bands to complete a small roster. We are 1000% DIY and plan on staying that way. We do not care about putting out a million releases and making tons of money, we just want to release good music from bands we love. Please get in touch with us for more info."

Forgotten Empire Records has issued the following update on the delayed Across Tundras album:
"As many of you know, the Across Tundras album has been delayed for a short time now. The album is nearing completion at the factory and will be shipping in a couple weeks. We are sorry for the delay and promise it will be in soon, and ship out to everyone a.s.a.p! Sometimes things out of our control take place that we have to adjust to and this was one of them. Thanks for your understanding!"
Across Tundras has opted to re-release their "Western Sky Ride" album, originally released by Saw Her Ghost Records, with a new label. The band explains:
"Due to some differences of opinion about the handling of the 'Western Sky Ride' CD between Saw Her Ghost and Across Tundras, we are making the decision to buyout the remaining copies of 'Western Sky Ride' from Saw Her Ghost and searching for a new label to repress the CD once those copies are gone.
"Please direct all inquires for press, distribution, reviews, radio, mailorder, ect for 'Western Sky Ride' to Across Tundras and no longer Saw Her Ghost. We wish them luck... they have a lot of great bands on their roster, it just didn't work out between us. Keep supporting them all!
"If you are a label who wants to can work hard properly promoting this release and is interested in repressing WSR CD please get in touch!"
Forgotten Empire Records has announced plans to release a new full-length album from Across Tundras late this summer. Across Tundras has previously released material with Crucial Blast Records, Saw Her Ghost Records, and Feeling Faint Productions. Forgotten Empire comments:
"We are very excited to be working with them on their new and currently untitled record. The recording is being finished up as we speak just west of the Continental Divide in the heart of the Rocky Mountains."
Across Tundras is currently recording a new album. The group has issued the following statement:
"Recording has begun for the new, as of yet untitled Across Tundras album. We were sitting on a ton of material and figured why not get going on it, even if we just had a new album come out.
"The album is going to be a collection of twelve or so new Across Tundras tunes and traditional songs done up in AT's unique styling. The tracks recorded thus far continue Across Tundras psychedelic journey into the future by way of the past. Richly textured songs bringing slide guitar, mandolin, and organ into AT's sound... in addition to the heavy drums, guitar, and bass. Its gonna be a good one.
"Any record labels interested in working with us putting out this recording? Please get in touch!"
As previously reported, Across Tundras recently cancelled their upcoming tour dates for a variety of reasons, including a broken down van, not having a bass player, and cash flow issues.
Across Tundras has cancelled upcoming tour dates for a variety of reasons, including a broken down van. Here's a statement from vocalist/guitarist Tanner Olson:
"Across Tundras is not breaking up, we are having to cancel the upcoming tours due to a lot of things out of our control (van breaking down, no bass player, broke asses, ect). I am moving to Nashville this summer to try something new, but rest assured, AT will keep on going strong. It may be a bit before we can hit the road again... but in the meantime Josh and myself are gonna be doing a new record before I move, and once the move happens... we are gonna play it by ear and see what happens with tours, shows, and new members to round out our lineup again. In the meantime we are gonna keep writing and releasing good music."
Denver, Colorado's Across Tundras is currently in search of a new bass player. Here's the official word from the band:
"Across Tundras is seeking a professional and motivated badass bass player with skills and nice gear. Have to be cool with tour three months a year. We have a lot of stuff in the works and going on right now (a new album out in a week), so you must be able to jump right in and start rocking right away. We are just a three piece, so having a strong presence and big sound is a must."
Interested parties should contact the band at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As previously reported, Across Tundras will head out on a six week tour of the US starting in mid-March.
