Furia Announces Polish Theatre Performances

Poland’s critically acclaimed Furia will be taking nekrofolk to an entirely new level this Friday May 12th when taking part in the premiere of the theatrical performance “Wesele.”

The Silesian act will serve as musical accompaniment to the show taking place at Stary Teatr in Cracow, Poland, with seven performances planned so far. All shows sold out on the same day that they went on sale. Stary Teatr is one of the most acclaimed European theatre stages, and one of the oldest public stages in Poland.

“Wesele,” translating to "The Wedding," is a classical Polish drama written by playwright, painter, and poet, Stanislaw Wyspianski. The story of "The Wedding" is set after the two unsuccessful uprisings against the Partitions of Poland in November 1830 and January 1863, and captures the complexities of attitudes towards national self-determination. Unearthing The Experimental Metal Underground

Metal has long been defined by a variety of regimented and easily recognizable genres, such as thrash, death, black, etc. Most bands bring in a few outside influences to keep the music fresh and prevent a total adherence to one particular idea, but there is now a rising tide of bands that ditch the idea of a single style altogether. Going by names such as “avant-garde” or “experimental” or “post-any genre you’d like,” they may start with a base that is familiar, but their overall sound is far too fluid to stick to one identifier. Bands such as Peccatum and Unexpect are some of the most well known in the style (“well known” being entirely relative here), but a growing number of underground experimental bands are still out there, waiting to be found by the metal masses. Furia Keyboardist Leaves Band

Season Of Mist has issued the following statement:

"FURIA and Season Of Mist are sad to announce that Mehdi Khadouj (keyboards and backing vocals) will leave the band after the last three shows scheduled (see below).

Mehdi wishes to focus exclusively on his band BEYON-D-LUSION, in which he plays guitar. We all wish him good luck for the future, but please note he will stay close to Furia, and will probably appear on stage with the band from time to time.

Mehdi won't be replaced, since Furia's most recent songs are all about power and guitars, and the keyboards will take a smaller part in the band's future."

30 - Montreux (CH) Under The Sky Festival
1 - Talange (57) (FR) Salle Jacques Brel ( with Beyon-D-Lusion and Two Tone Club)
12 - Macon (71) (FR) Cave à Musique (acoustic concert - free entrance)
