Southern California heavy rockers Fu Manchu head into the studio this weekend to begin recording an 11th studio album.
This will be the first new album release since 2009's "Signs of Infinite Power" and will be released on the band's own At The Dojo label in May 2014, coinciding with a full month long U.S tour with Europe and the rest of the world to follow, all leading up to the group's 25th anniversary in 2015.
The album is being self produced by Fu Manchu and recorded by Andrew Giacumakis (MOAB) and Jim Monroe (The Adolescents, X). Writing began in summer of 2012 and the band members soon found themselves with enough material for two albums. A hint of what the new songs will sound like was released in October in a collaboration with Scion Motors called "Robotic Invasion."
Further details on the coming release will be forthcoming.

California rock band Fu Manchu is currently writing new material for an upcoming album and planning a 20th anniversary DVD. The band issued the following statement:
"First off, we are playing a show at the detroit bar in costa mesa, ca on sat feb 21.
"We are writing the new record now. we have about 10 new songs. we hope to write another 5 or 6 before we hit the studio in april / may. the new record should be out sept / oct 2009 through century media records. so far its turning out very fuzzy and heavy!!! a few faster, tweaked songs will be in there as well. we will also be doing a few cover songs if we have the extra time in the studio. we will release a 2 song 7" on our own at the dojo records sometime before or after the full length comes out. the 7" will be a limited pressing of 900 like the last one we released with the VOID cover song.
"2010 will be fu manchu's 20th year of being a band. we have some very limited re-issues planned and selected shows where we will be playing certain records straight through. a dvd is also planned wih stuff from waaaaay back up until now. live shows and videos. we are hoping to put all the videos that weve done on there as well. some never before seen."
2008 has become an extremely exciting year in the history of Century Media Records, one of the world's most respected independent homes for heavy music, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary!
The company's Anniversary year started off with an extremely successful, first-ever yard sale/party at the Century Media office in Dortmund (Germany) in June, where several hundred guests partied out on exclusive live shows by Angel Dust and Turisas. A video with impressions from the event can be seen at this location. A photo gallery for this event can be viewed here.
To further celebrate this anniversary Century Media Records will release the very special 2CD compilation "Covering 20 Years Of Extremes" on September 15th in Europe and on October 14th in North America. The various artists covers-release includes 32 mostly exclusive recordings and will be available in stores for the price of one CD. Sticking to the "keep it in the family" slogan, CM approached their artists about covering songs from other acts within the label's repertoire and the response from the musicians was overwhelming.
Some choices were obvious and homages to the bands that influenced them, others were inspired picks. This combination ended up leading to a heavily entertaining and truly special final result across all sub-genres of heavy music.
