Protest The Hero has released a video for "Mist," which can be seen below, and the band comments:
"After much ado, we are proud to finally premier our official video for 'Mist.' We made two trips back and forth to Newfoundland to make this one happen and we are really happy with how it turned out. As usual, we had too much footage to cram into just 4 minutes, so we made it longer!
"We hope you can take a minute to watch and learn about one of our favourite places on earth.
What better place to house the video than our brand new website is going to be a place where we can post whatever we want free of the worry that tons of you wont get it in your fb feeds...
"We have lots of stuff still to add, but it's a good start eh? Enjoy!" More...
Italy's Destrage is happy to announce that the band will be joining Protest the Hero, The Faceless, and The Contortionist on tour throughout continental Europe this Fall.
The tour begins on November 11th in Germany and wraps up on December 13th in France. Guitarist Mat Di Gioia comments: "We were really tempted to enjoy our scout camp with cross camping skiing tournament, tea party debate and knitting workshop week, BUT we chose to tour Europe with fucking Protest The Hero, Faceless and The Contortionist instead. We can't wait to share the stage with these outstanding bands, this tour is gonna be totally sick! See you there everybody!"

This week, our Official Podcast brings you another round of live music recaps. First, co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) revisits the burgeoning local metal scene of Lynchburg, Virginia – previously covered here – with a rundown of its newly minted “Thursday Throwdown” series of concerts.
The second show, held at Phase 2 on Thursday, April 17th, presented a compact and delightfully complete ceremony of rock and metal tribute, starting with three-piece cover act Mourn The Illusion, continuing with progressive melodic metallers Unspoken, and culminating with headliners and local hard rock darlings Singleside ("Moving Forward" album review here).
Next up, co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) discusses a recent headlining performance in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, by Canadian bizarro-metal wackos Protest The Hero. Check out his thoughts about the bill, which included openers Intervals, eclectic tech-proggers The Safety Fire, and strangely, Detroit thrashers Battlecross.
Finally, your co-hosts react to the recently released single “All Rise” from Wovenwar, the new formation of As I Lay Dying members minus prison-bound frontman Tim Lambesis. Wovenwar features Jordan Mancino (drums), Nick Hipa (guitar), Phil Sgrosso (guitar), Josh Gilbert (bass/vocals), and Oh, Sleeper frontman Shane Blay (vocals).
Check out the podcast here, enjoy, and offer us your feedback.
Protest The Hero has checked in with the following announcement about bassist Arif Mirabdolbaghi missing upcoming tour dates:
"Arif has decided that the touring schedule we have signed up for to support Volition is more intense than what he is prepared to commit. He is actively involved with other projects at home and being a full time band member isn't a practical thing.
"Though he has and will be missed out on the road with his brothers, everything was left on a positive note and we are open to his involvement down the road and only time will see how it all plays out.
"In the meantime, our longtime friend and tourmate Cam McLellan will be filling in on bass duties for the rest of the cycle. As an amazing musician, co-writer and producer of Volition, he is more than capable to pick off where Riffy left off.
"Don't fret, Cam's working on his giant happy smile and well placed high kicks during our set!" More...
Protest The Hero has released a new live video for "Tilting Against Windmills," featuring footage compiled from two tours supporting Volition.

The band comments: "We just had an amazing run with Killswitch Engage and Trivium in Europe and we're stoked to be with them yet again in the US! We're going to have a blast with our fans and hopefully make some new ones!"
The touring doesn't stop here though, as Battlecross will be playing dates with Killswitch Engage and Trivium as well as making a stop at the infamous New England Metal & Hardcore Festival. See the band live on these dates: More...
Kicking off the new year with an extensive run of dates around the world, Night Verses is beyond excited to announce that the band will be supporting Protest The Hero the U.S. starting March 1st in Buffalo, NY.

As was announced yesterday, Detroit, Michigan-based metallers Battlecross will be joining Canada's Protest The Hero as direct support on the band's spring U.S. tour, set to commence March 1st in Buffalo. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 24th.
Guitarist Tony Asta comments: "Battlecross is very excited to hit the road with Protest The Hero! They seem like a very successful, humble group of guys who don't take things too seriously yet are serious about the business -- a good role model for all modern bands and we can't wait to get to know them on the road. Oh yeah and they're shredders! Being direct support is a huge honor and we won't let anyone down. This is a very unique tour package and we can't wait to play to new crowds as well as expose some of our fans to bands they may not have seen yet. See you all in the road this spring!"
The latest Battlecross effort, "War Of Will," saw the band on the road as a part of 2013's Rockstar Mayhem Festival and debuted at #134 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, #118 on the Top Current Albums chart, #2 on the Heatseeker chart, #15 on the Current Hard Music chart, #16 on the Hard Music Overall chart, and #32 on the Independent Albums chart. Architects has posted the following message online about dropping off the band's current tour with Protest The Hero and Affiance:
"There's no easy way to say this but we have decided to pull out of the remaining Protest the Hero shows in the US. In the interests of honesty, avoiding ambiguity and the standard 'personal reasons' line, we want to explain our reasons clearly.
"A big factor in this was beginning this tour immediately after an extremely intense period recording our new album, which had already left us burnt out and mentally / physically exhausted. Simply said - we have nothing left in us after the extremely long year we have had thus far. We have hit a brick wall and desperately need a break to be home, get healthy and clear our minds for the remainder of the year.
"We haven't taken this decision lightly. We make it carrying a great deal of guilt for letting down the bands we're on tour with and the fans that have bought tickets, and to them we are sorry. This is the first time in 8 years of touring that we've ever had to do anything like this and it makes us feel extremely uncomfortable. This is also a not a financially motivated decision, exiting this tour means we lose out on a good amount of money, but somethings are more important. Protest is of course going on with the tour and they will announce our replacement soon.
"Again - we are deeply sorry to everyone we have let down. We will be back next year, revitalized and with a brand new album."
Protest The Hero has launched a new video clip for "Underbite," which can be viewed below, and the band comments:
"Hopefully none of you are aware we made a full blown puppet music video for TOUR LAUNCH! Without further ado, here is our brand new music video for 'Underbite.'
"Many thanks for our friend / director Marc Ricciardelli for turning such a goofy idea into an amazing thing."
Protest The Hero, which recently posted the full "Volition" album online, has now announced that Arif Mirabdolbaghi will not be touring with the band. Arif comments:
"Riff here. It's with a heavy heart that I'm writing to say I won't be joining PTH on the upcoming North American tour. As you can readily imagine, this is the most challenging decision I've ever made as a part of this wonderful band and I have not done so lightly.
"Over the past several years, I've been working closely with some very talented performers in creating a stage adaptation of a Dostoevsky story entitled The Double. We debuted February 2012 to enthusiastic audiences which, through good fortune and hard work, has led to a new staging of the show at a different theatre as part of their official season. These dates were originally tailored to work around the PTH schedule but (as all of you musicians undoubtedly know) creating an album is a series of missed deadlines and inevitably takes longer than expected. The results left us with two options: wait two months with a finished album for my play to be over, or release the music we're so proud of and bring the show to you as soon as possible. The band, as they say, played on. More...

"Although it was not our initial intention to release this song next... we have put up an official copy of 'Drumhead Trial' for you guys to hear.
"We heard a bunch of terrible versions of this on youtube after it aired on radio in the US. If you had the misfortune of hearing one of these monstrosities - our sincerest. Hopefully you can at least rip your heartless comments on a version that sounds a little better. I hope you are all happy - the people have won this round ha!
"This song features our friend Kayla Howran ripping some vocals toward the end! It also features Ron Jarzombek destroying Luke in a trade-off guitar solo!" More...

Affiance singer Dennis Tvrdik commented on the tour, "So many of our fans have been wanting this to happen for years and now it finally happened! This couldn't be a better tour for us to follow the last one we did with Killswitch Engage. We are just excited to be on another really solid tour with not only great bands, but bands we are actually fans of."

Protest the Hero has issued the following announcement about parting ways with drummer Moe Carlson:
"We know we have been silent for the past couple months while we record this beast, but we assure you it's almost done and is turning out extremely well. We plan on releasing our beloved 'pupdates' throughout the summer while we set up to release this new album so stay tuned for that.
"With all this incredible progress, however, we have some sad news. Our brother and friend Moe has decided to leave the band to go back to school in pursuit of some of his other passions. When our grueling studio schedule just wouldn't work with his grueling school schedule, we realized we would need to find a session player for the new album.
"With Moe's guidance and approval, we found us a nice match in Chris Adler! Having known Chris for a few years, and with he and Moe being drum-buddies, it seemed like a perfect fit. We are happy to say that Chris has already come and gone from Canada and has left us with some beautiful drum tracks. Can't wait for you all to hear it!"
The members of Protest The Hero have decided to go DIY and raise the funds for an upcoming new record themselves. They have decided to use the crowd-funding website IndieGoGo for their campaign. The fundraising starts today and will run for the next 30 days.
The band is offering many "perks" on the site that are only available during this time period and are exclusive to the campaign. Protest The Hero plans to go into the studio in March to record the fourth studio album. For information on the Protest The Hero IndieGoGo project, go to this location.
