After introducing the song “Withered” by Canton, Ohio’s brutal death metallers TON, we kick off this week by examining another highly anticipated new album. Co-host Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) shines a spotlight on “The Year The Sun Died,” (reviewed here) the third studio album by Seattle act Sanctuary, and first since the group reformed after more than a two-decade split. Tune in to hear his thoughts on the latest offering from singer Warrel Dane (ex-Nevermore) and company.
Next, co-host Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) relates his (and likely many other fans’) frustrations over the interminable delays and setbacks befalling the next Veil Of Maya album, including the sudden, unceremonious departure of frontman Brandon Butler smack in the middle of recording.
Finally comes a not-so-serious reaction to the latest work of fine art from Mastodon, a video single titled “Boobs & Butts” (err, “The Motherload”). We’ll let the music, images, and our comments speak for themselves.
Veil Of Maya has parted ways with vocalist Brandon Butler. The band issued the following announcement about the lineup change:
"Currently we are hard at work on our new studio album and while the music is almost finished, the hunt for a new vocalist is now on.
"We are very excited with how well this album is turning out and cannot wait to release it soon on Sumerian Records. We know that both our long-time AND new fans will be calling THIS their favorite Veil of Maya album of all time.
"We want to wish Brandon good luck with anything and everything that he does in the future and thank him for being a part of the band." More...

Chicago-based Veil of Maya is extremely proud to announce the band's re-signing to Sumerian Records, the label which the band has been a part of since its inception.
This comes on the heels of the group releasing the brand new "Subject Zero" track, which can be heard below. Don't miss Veil of Maya on a North American Fall tour starting November 8th with Structures, Northlane, Vildhjarta and Here Comes The Kraken. All dates can be found after the jump.
Veil of Maya states: "We are very happy to re-sign with Sumerian Records. We have built a long-lasting relationship with the people there, and believe that they are stronger then ever. We couldn't see our band going anywhere else after our history, so therefore Sumerian has been and will continue to be the label the band calls home.
"As a band, we feel like we have grown tremendously. We are all ready, focused and want to put out the hardest material possible. The new stuff that has been written is some of the best Veil yet. We are really excited to see everyone out on our next headlining tour. We feel this tour is a great mix of bands, most of which haven't been to America before, so let's make sure they feel welcomed here. We are stoked for everyone to hear the new track we just released and see what we have been preparing. Expect a new VOM full length album in 2014 via Sumerian Records. See you all soon."
Sumerian Founder Ash Avildsen states: "For years, Veil of Maya has been a flagship heavy band for Sumerian and continues to play a crucial role in our progressive metal movement. I am very grateful and excited to have such a talented, hardworking and sagacious group of dudes in the family for many more years to come."
The new single "Subject Zero" will be available on iTunes, Googleplay and Amazon MP3 November 11th. More...

Every Time I Die's Keith Buckley (vocals) states: “We've always put a lot of effort into making this band work and when we perform we do so at the highest level of intensity, so to finally be deemed an 'AllStar' is a dream come true. I plan on relaxing in a hot tub with Wade Boggs or smoking huge cigars with Ronnie Harmon talking about our visits to Hollywood. Those are just some casual things us AllStars do when we're not giving 110%. But that's rare. This tour has a solid line-up and we're excited to be a part of it. See you all this summer.”

"During the months of July and August of 2012, the Summer Slaughter Tour spanned North American continent, hitting 31 cities in five weeks, including two festivals in Canada. It was headlined by the legendary Cannibal Corpse and supported by heavy hitters in the progressive and death metal scenes.
