"We have an awesome drummer on our hands that will be replacing Arttu to 100%. This means that we will be touring as planned and take on more tours along the way. So please lets welcome the mighty Emil Wiksten as the current drummer of Aeon. His first stage appearance with Aeon will be on January 16 in London @ Garage.

Aeon Streaming New Song

Today MetalSucks offers up an exclusive premiere of "The Glowing Hate," the latest single of iniquity from Swedish death metal unit, Aeon.

The track comes off the band's forthcoming new full-length, "Aeons Black," scheduled to drop next week. Check out "The Glowing Hate" at this location.

Comments guitarist Daniel Dlimi of the tune: "My goal with 'The Glowing Hate' was to write a really diverse song containing all sorts of elements and influences. Personally, I think it turned out great and it's also the song that I am most satisfied with of the ones I wrote for the album. I also think [vocalist] Tommy [Dahlstöm ] managed to write really great lyrics and awesome vocal patterns for it, and as usual it's all about our everlasting hate against religion. The spoken parts at the end were something that Tommy and I came up with over a piss-warm beer in the studio after we were done with the main vocals of the song. It sounded cool so we decided to keep it." More...

Aeon Releases Lyric Video

After previously streaming the new song "Aeons Black" online, Swedish death metal squadron Aeon has now released an official lyric video for the track. Check out the video below.

The tune comes off the band’s forthcoming new studio offering of the same name, set to drop via Metal Blade Records on November 20th, 2012. The mammoth 15-track "Aeons Black" was recorded at Empire Studio in Östersund, Sweden, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Ronnie Björnström (Garageland Studios) and features cover art by Kristian “Necrolord” Wåhlin (Bathory, At The Gates, Dissection, Emperor et al).

Notes founding guitarist Zeb Nilsson of the album: “This is definitely our most varied albums to date; it has heavier songs yet it also has lots of fast blastbeats and double bass drumming. It’s groovier this time, which I think we lacked on our last album, Path of Fire, which was fast paced almost all the way through. And no, we have not gone softer in any aspect; it’s just easier to catch with all this grooviness. It’s metal right up your ass!”

Aeon Reveals New Album Details

Swedish death metal overlords Aeon are pleased to unveil the details of their fourth studio offering, "Aeons Black." Set to drop via Metal Blade Records on November 20th, 2012, the mammoth 15-track "Aeons Black" was recorded at Empire Studio in Östersund, Sweden. The album was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Ronnie Björnström (Garageland Studios) and features cover art by Kristian "Necrolord" Wåhlin (Bathory, At The Gates, Dissection, Emperor et al).

Notes founding guitarist Zeb Nilsson of the band's latest offering of irreverence: "This is definitely our most varied albums to date; it has heavier songs yet it also has lots of fast blastbeats and double bass drumming. It's groovier this time, which I think we lacked on our last album, Path of Fire, which was fast paced almost all the way through. That and the amazing mix by Ronnie Björnström makes me feel pretty confident that this album will appeal to more people than our previous albums. And no, we have not gone softer in any aspect; it's just easier to catch with all this grooviness. It's metal right up your ass!"

The first single, title track "Aeons Black," premieres today via the band's official landing page. You can also listen to the song in the player below. Comments guitarist Daniel Dlimi of the tune:

"'Aeons Black' is the first song that I started to work on as we began writing for this album, and it's also one of the very last to get finished. My goal was to create a somewhat heavier, odder, not-so-typical 'AEON' song. Once happy with the musical arrangement, I handed it over to [vocalist] Tommy [Dahlstöm] to let him write some lyrics and vocal patterns for it. He managed to get it even darker and more eerie. The lyrics are all about how everything living eventually must face the inevitable, which is death. There will be no savior, no heaven nor hell… just a pitch black, silent empty void." More...

Aeon Re-Recruits Former Drummer

Sweden's Aeon has issued the following announcement about re-recruiting former drummer Arttu Malkki:

"As you all may know, we have been searching for a new drummer since early September this year. We have gotten a great deal of drummer-applicants from various countries. Some of them where really awesome drummers, to say the least. We would like to take the opportunity to thank every single one of you for showing interest and sending us drum-videos of you playing our songs etc. Thank you so much and good luck with your future endeavors.

"Without really thinking about it, the best solution for us was lurking around the corner. Arttu Malkki, our first original drummer (1999-2002) has during the last year been showing interest in playing faster death-metal once more. After his departure from Aeon back in 2002, Arttu has mainly been playing in heavier / slower metal bands.

"A couple of weeks ago, we saw him perform a show with our buddies Sanctification and we where really, really impressed with Arttu's 'fast-drumming' comeback. Later on, Arttu asked us if we wanted to jam a couple of songs with him just to see what it would feel like. So we did, and it sounded massive! We decided to give it another shot, and once again we played songs like Living sin, Soulburner, God Gives head, Hel-el Ben Shachar, Spreading their disease among others and this hard-hitting drum-monster makes us sound really massive. Both we and Arttu felt that this was just so right and we decided to once again be band mates. More...

Dark Funeral Splits With Drummer

Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman has issued the following announcement about the band parting ways with drummer Dominator:

"Ave! Recently, you could read about Nils 'Dominator' Fjellstrom's departure from Aeon due to personal/private reasons. Today we can confirm that he’ll no longer be part of Dark Funeral either. And just like Aeon, we won’t comment on this subject any further.

"With that being said, I/we see no reason to waste any time here. Besides a new vocalist, we are currently looking for a new drummer too. If you do believe that you have what it takes for the job, please send us a brief introduction and some audio/video files/links of your performance to: vocalist@darkfuneral.se

"With the recent departures from the band I/we understand if this may cause some worries and/or confusion amongst you all, but you can be rest assured that everything is under total control! It’s not like anyone have left the band on bad terms, but unfortunately, sometimes things like this are inevitable and needs to happen to secure the survival of a band. And there is absolutely no doubt in my/our mind that once the new line-up is complete. We will be a stronger and better band than ever. Musically we will continue in the same paths. I’m still main responsible for all the song writings, incl. the drums. So you have nothing to worry about there. However, a new line-up will naturally color the sound in some ways, but I’m totally confident that it will only be for the better. More...

Aeon Parts Ways With Drummer

Sweden's Aeon has issued the following announcement about parting ways with drummer Nils Fjellström:

"Our drummer, Nils Fjellström has decided to leave the band on a very short notice. The reason for this is personal / private and Nils has chosen not to speak his mind out to the public about this. We will respect his wish not to do so, and therefore we will not reveal any details nor answering questions about this. As you may know, this is not the first time Nils is out of the band, but it's most certain the last.

"How strange this even may sound, I really think that we will be better off without him in the long run. We need a drummer who we can rely on at all times, someone who can be there for us when opportunities shows up etc. To take this band any further, we need a line-up where everyone has the same visions and goals.

"At least this time around, there where no big tours planned like the last time Nils bailed out on us. We only had one show planned ahead that was scheduled to take place October 16. We kindly asked Nils to do at least this show with us before he left, but he simply didn't agree to do so. This leaves us with no choice but to cancel our spot in this event. There is just to little time to rehearse a full headline set with a new session-drummer. Perhaps the promoter (Hårdrocksklubben) finds a new headliner for this evening or it will get canceled.
