Pyramaze Keyboardist Joins Universal Mind Project

International progressive metal act Universal Mind Project announced the addition of Jonah Weingarten (Pyramaze) as the band's new keyboard player. The band recently released the debut album "The Jaguar Priest" back in May via Inner Wound Recordings. Weingarten introduces himself in the video clip below.

Guitarist Michael Alexander commented: "It is with great pleasure to welcome Jonah in our team of friends and musicians. His great work will fit perfectly with our ideas for the following works and his great personality for the stages as well.

"Jonah possess a wonderful sense of melody, great capabilities for cinematic and orchestral sounds which we are very much looking forward to add into our own style with Universal Mind Project. We are very happy having Jonah as a full creative band member now of the band, and we are looking forward to begin this journey with all the guys as a whole, and create the best music we can. Welcome to the team Jonah!"

Weingarten commented: "It is an absolute honor to be asked to join Universal Mind Project and to join the ranks of such fantastic musicians and vocalists! I'm looking forward to contributing both creatively and personally to the music and unity of the band, while bringing my persona and energy simultaneously. I truly believe that my own unique style of keyboards and piano will mesh well with the sound of UMP and want to say a very special thanks to Michael, Elina, Henrik, and Alex for considering me."

Pyramaze Announces New Lineup

Pyramaze has checked in with the following announcement about a new band lineup and plans to commence recording a new album:

"Pyramaze are proud to announce that Michael Kammeyer's (guitars) replacement is in fact our longtime producer and very good friend Jacob Hansen (Invocator, Anubis Gate, Beyond Twilight). It seemed so natural to us to bring Jacob on board, given that he has always felt like an extra member of the band anyways. He has been with us since the beginning, producing, mixing and mastering 'Melancholy Beast' and 'Legend of the Bonecarver,' and mixing and mastering 'Immortal.'

"It's no secret that Michael was the main songwriter in Pyramaze, as well as the backbone of the band in every conceivable way. However with our new lineup that also consists of original members Morten Gade (Wuthering Heights) and Jonah W. (Structure of Inhumanity, Echoterra), longtime lead guitarist Toke S. and new vocalist Urban breed (Tad Morose), we have split up the songwriting duties, and pledge to put our hearts and souls into this new album and the future of Pyramaze.

"Michael's shoes are big ones to fill, (literally) and in doing so we feel that we are honoring his legacy to the best of our abilities. Before Michael and Niels (bass) had announced their departures from the band, we had already arranged to have Jacob mix the new album, so the transition has gone smoothly to say the least.

"We want to thank our fans for standing by us through all of our hardships, and we promise to deliver the best album we can. We love you all!"

Pyramaze Parts Ways With Guitarist And Bassist

Former Pyramaze guitarist Michael Kammeyer has posted the following statement online, announcing his departure from the band:

"I have for a long time now struggled to find the mental surplus as well as the sheer time to put into the large endeavor that Pyramaze has become.

"Back when I created the band in 2002, my private and professional life looked a lot different than it does today, and it has become increasingly taxing on me to find the energy that is needed to do all the stuff that I have to do. In fact, it has become difficult to the point where it's not justifiable anymore.

"I have had to take a long hard look at what I must do, to avoid a mental meltdown, and, unfortunately, I have had to make a hard decision — in fact, probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make. I feel the time has come to stop my journey with Pyramaze.

"The band has been a very important part of my life for the last 8-9 years. I've built it from scratch, and I've been working my ass off to get Pyramaze to where it is now. So it is truly with a heavy heart that I now close this chapter. More...

Pyramaze Issues Update on New Album

Keyboardist, Jonah Weingarten of Denmark's PYRAMZE, has checked in with the following update:

"The band is still very much alive and kicking. We are currently working on material for our new record, but progress has taken a little bit more time then we had expected. This is due to several of the band members having expanding families and various other work related obligations. I for one, will be welcoming my daughter into the world this November. You can all look forward to Urban Breed (TAD MOROSE, BLOODBOUND) kicking some serious ass on his debut with us!"
