Masters of Sumerian black/thrash metal, Melechesh, have announced the release of an exclusive digital EP called "Mystics Of The Pillar II." The EP will contain the following tracks and will be released April 27 in Europe, May 1 in the US:
01. Mystics Of The Pillar (Alternate Ending)
02. Sacred Geometry (Instrumental)
03. The Epigenesis (Instrumental)
Commented mainman Ashmedi: "We recorded two different ending version of 'Mystics of the Pillar' - this one changes tempo and picks up steam. Why? Because we felt like it, a song with two different endings is not too common in this day and age. Last minute we chose one to be included on the album, thus the second version was not mixed and mastered till a much later date.
"We also decided to release a couple of instrumental versions to our songs, namely 'The Epigenesis' title track which is a 12-13 minute epic and Sacred Geometry both are multi faceted and work perfect just as instrumental works. We actually have an instrumental version of the entire album mixed and mastered so enjoy these couple of tracks."
The release date for the upcoming compilation “Monsters of Metal - Vol. 8” on DVD/Blu-Ray with 90 music videos and over 400 minutes of pure metal is postponed until March 16th, 2012.

Sumerian black/thrash metallers Melechesh have just returned from their European tour as special guests of label mates Samael. Mastermind, vocalist and guitarist Ashmedi offers the following summary:
“So far we have completed our fourth tour, plus a festival run in support of The 'Epigenesis' album. Yet we still have some more gigs to announce.
"Lux Mundi tour was a great experience for one thing the weather was great so that things like the flu, ice and floods were kept at bay, but more importantly touring with talented bands like Keep of Kalessin and Samael was a pleasure, both on a professional and personal level as well . Massive Music did a very good job as always - a professional crew which is more like family than anything else. The opening acts Minkus, Dark End, Fluxious, Dead Shape Figure, Noctem, Six Reasons to Kill, and Inferi all had something different to offer, which added spice and diversity to each night of the tour, plus the guys and gals in those bands were just superb to have around. Now it is time to sit and compose!”
Furthermore, French comic artist Fabrice Gagos has included a tribute to both Melechesh members Ashmedi and Moloch to his weekly updated web comic by dedicating one of the main characters – Sayid – to the two. Here’s what the creator says about it: More...
Sumerian black/thrash metal kings Melechesh will present their new bass player at their upcoming festival appearances. The band split with bassist Rahm earlier this year.
Founder, mainman, vocalist and guitarist Ashmedi explains: ”The relationship is in a strict tryout phase which will allow the bass player to find his way into the band and to see if he fits in well. Additionally – as often before – Moloch won’t be able to be part of the live line-up on our European tour as well as on two festivals due to his PHD finalisation and other commitments, which he had to reschedule because of our previous US and European tours. But as always we’ll have a trusted backup guitarist who toured with us in the past. See you on the road! Get ready for Sumerian Sonic Magick!”
The band's upcoming festivals are as follows:
12 August Party San Germany
17 August Summer Breeze Germany
20 August Motocultor fest Brittany France
27 August Elserock fest Netherlands

"We have asked Rahm to leave Melechesh. it was very hard to do but necessary for the longevity of the band, we will make an official press release and will audition the right person."

Additional details will be announced as they are made available. You can also check out the band's music video for "Grand Gathas Of Baal Sin" at this location.
Sumerian black metal outfit Melechesh has posted a new music video online for the song, "Grand Gathas Of Baal Sin." You can check it out below. The song comes from the group's latest studio album, "The Epigenesis," which was released last year through Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented mainman Ashmedi: "Finally the video clip for 'Grand Gathas of Baal Sin' is ready, it was not an easy process but worth the effort. We are very proud of this clip and we consider our collaboration with Rouzbeh to be very positive."
The clip was shot at the cisterns in Istanbul, Turkey in late 2010 by Canadian director Rouzbeh Heydari and produced by Tumay Irgas.
Ahhhh, death metal. Until tonight I hadn’t been to a proper death metal show in a couple of years at least, if not longer, so when I opened the doors to Reggie’s Rock Club in Chicago’s Near South Side, the stench of decaying flesh wafted into my wanting nostrils and refreshed my soul. Spiked gauntlets and shinguards, bullet belts, corpsepaint, unending blast beats, lots and lots of huge buckles, long black coats – all the pleasantries of a death metal show were coming back to me in trigged kick drum style as I boldly strode past the merch table. The Apostles of Darkness Over The Americas Tour was in town, and headliner Rotting Christ had brought along a bag of very special guests: Melechesh, Hate, Abigail Williams and Lecherous Nocturne. Unfortunately I had a sustenance occasion that precluded my arrival in time for Lecherous Nocturne, but the folks I chatted with said their tech-death was precise and heavy. More...
Sumerian blackened thrashers Melechesh just returned from their tour with fellow label mates Nile. The band, lead by front man Ashmedi, is now about to embark on a North America tour immediately to promote "The Epigenesis."
Commented front man Ashmedi: "The European tour is done, it has been a great experience, and we met great people for the most part. Touring with Nile was also a musical journey were we explored different takes on Middle Eastern sounding extreme metal. The accompanying bands on the tour were all great without any exception, each offered something different and did their best night in and night out. Dew-Scented, Zonaria, Darkrise for part one of the tour and then Bibleblack, Pressure Points and Goat the Head for the second part, they were great company and kick ass people.
"We would like to thank Massive music and their great crew, Murph, Punchy, the bands we toured with, local promoters and most importantly the great fans that came to the shows.
"As for now we are heading for North America for a 4.5 week comprehensive tour across USA and Canada, with our friends from Rotting Christ, Hate, Abigail Williams and Lecherous Nocturne. We look forward to delivering our audiences there with live Sumerian Sonic Magick.“

The organizers of the Party.San 2011 festival have issued the following announcement about more bands appearing on the bill:
"Raised from the ashes of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost by Tom Gabriel Fischer himself, PARTY.SAN 2011 is proud and honored to announce the addition of Triptykon to its expanding bill of bands. Hell literally broke loose with the release of the band's Eparistera Daimone debut. Pitch black and truly evil music for devoted fans of extreme metal.
"Gorguts from Canada recently joined the PARTY.SAN bill. A death metal dinosaur of sorts, the band formed in 1989 and, having survived a host of trends, tragedies and breakups, are still going strong today. Gorguts will present to you a technical and extremely furious death metal show you will never forget.
"Enslaved are easily among Norway’s finest bands. The progressive black/Viking metal ensemble has remained dark and innovative for their two-decade-long existence and will bring their monolithic blackness to the PARTY.SAN 2011 stage." More...

Guitarist/vocalist Ashmedi of Melechesh has posted the fifth and final installment of the track-by-track breakdown for the new album "Epigenesis," which can be found below. Melechesh has also posted the song "Grand Gathas Of Baal Sin" from the new album on the band's MySpace page.
10. A Greater Chain of Being “This is an instrumental with traditional near eastern instruments. This music represents sufi music or ancient eastern classical music. This is not very common in mainstream society and in the middle east it is considered underground! It is profound and spiritual and meant for you to confront yourself while meditating or tripping. We have done such compositions in the past because we feel close to them. It is another dimension of MELECHESH. Many of our audiences asked us to compose more songs like this because they do not have access to such music. It was a treat to oblige, even though we would have done it in either case. Turn the lights off, computer off, phone off and go on a trip."
11. The Epigenesis “Some have called it one of our most accomplished songs performed with 12 string electric guitars. Some have called it a journey into the world of MELECHESH. Some called it MELECHESH in psychedelic mode. I call it another song, albeit self indulgent. We did not want to make a demo for this track, but rather develop it during several writing sessions often lasting into the morning hours. We wanted the listener to feel as if they were right there with us in the rehearsal room. The guitar leads were improvised and it gave an impromptu feel to the song. Leads were recorded late at night without an agenda. The hallways of the studio doubled as reverb outlets . Yes the reverbs in this song were ‘handmade’ by putting a microphone in the hallway to pick up the distant and echo sound of our guitars. Many things happened while recording this song that made it all work like a perfectly built puzzle. You can hear elaborate middle eastern melodies, heavy metal, thrash metal and psychedelic rock all in the same track. The longest track we have ever written. One verse in our lyrics refers to all our album titles. A very interesting concept for us. This is the testimony of The Epigenesis.”
