"Programmed to Consume" is set for release on May 13 (North America) and May 17 (rest of world) via Relapse Records.
Commented ABYSMAL DAWN's Charles Elliott: "I'm very confident that these are the sickest vocals I've put to tape yet! We even had our friend Jacob from RECIPROCAL come in and do some guest vocals on the track 'Twilight's Fallen'. Some very sick sounds will meet all your ears soon indeed! Everyone played their hearts out on this album and I think you can feel the intensity in all our performances. Quite frankly, we feel this album is ABYSMAL DAWN's best yet and will destroy 'From Ashes' by far! Maybe it's just us though, so we'll let you be the judge."

Los Angeles’ ABYSMAL DAWN have posted two new tracks off their forthcoming new album, Programmed To Consume, online at their official MySpace page for your listening pleasure.
Abysmal Dawn issue the following update on their Myspace page:
"We've been in and out of John Haddad's (INTRONAUT, EYES OF FIRE) new studio since November and things are finally starting to come together."
"Following a bit of downtime finishing up some lyrics, vocals were tracked a few days after December 25th. After about six hours of intense screaming and growling my voice gave out and I had to come back two days latter to track the rest. All that punishment was worth it though, because I'm very confident that these are the sickest vocals I've put to tape yet! We even had our friend Jacob from RECIPROCAL come in and do some guest vocals on the track 'Twilight's Fallen.' Some very sick sounds will meet all your ears soon indeed!"
"Everyone played their hearts out on this album and I think you can feel the intensity in all our performances. The mixing process is close to done and we can't believe how heavy this one is sounding! Quite frankly, we feel this album is ABYSMAL DAWN's best yet and will destroy "From Ashes" by far! Maybe it's just us though, so we'll let you be the judge." More...
Vocalist/guitarist Charles Elliott of the Los Angeles-based extreme metal band ABYSMAL DAWN has issued the following update on the progress of the recording sessions for the group's sophomore release:
"Just a quick update to let everyone know that things have been coming along quite nicely with the recording of our second record. We recently finished tracking all the guitars, bass and drums at John Haddad's (Eyes of Fire, Intronaut) new studio in Corona, CA and it's sounding amazing so far! Some rough mixing has already begun and the tracks already sound better than "From Ashes!"
"Vocals should be recorded in about a month's time at which point we'll start shopping the material for a new label and start playing some more shows again. We filmed a ton of footage while we were recording and we hope to have some of it up for you to check out soon."
ABYSMAL DAWN recently parted ways former label Crash Music Inc. The group's debut album, "From Ashes," was released in April 2006. It was engineered, mixed and mastered by John Haddad at Shiva Industries. The band toured in support of that album last fall alongside SIX FEET UNDER, KRISIUN and DECAPITATED. ABYSMAL DAWN has also played with reunited black metal legends EMPEROR and IMMORTAL.
Abysmal Dawn issue the following update on their Myspace page:
"ABYSMAL DAWN will no longer be working with Crash Music, Inc. Rather than go into the laundry list of dirty details, lets just say "it didn't work out" and we are looking forward to finding a new home. We are currently looking for a label that is interested in supporting our upcoming full-length as well as possibly reissuing 'From Ashes.' All interested parties please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We start recording our new record on November 2nd with engineer John Haddad (INTRONAUT, EYES OF FIRE) and we promise you all this album will be our vengeance!"
Vocalist/guitarist, Charles Elliott, of the Los Angeles-based extreme metal band ABYSMAL DAWN, recently offered an update on the progress of their upcoming sophomore release:
"We're running a little behind schedule, but we'll be entering John Haddad's (EYES OF FIRE, INTRONAUT) new studio in Corona, CA on November 2nd to start churning out some punishing new tunes. Lately we've been rehearsing like mad men trying to get everything perfect. The songs are a bit more challenging to say the least but we wouldn't have it any other way! A lot of the newer material is in the 250 bpm range and we may even push it further if we're feeling crazy enough haha! Expect some faster stuff as well as some slightly longer epic songs this time around. We've been shredding away trying to write some jaw dropping leads for you guys as well. When it's all laid down to tape hopefully we turn a few heads and gain a few more fans in the process. I think it's pretty safe to say that this one is going to top "From Ashes" but we'll let you be the judge of that. Wish us luck!"

ABYSMAL DAWN will enter the studio this year to begin recording the as-yet-untitled follow-up to "From Ashes". An early 2008 release is expected.

Abysmal Dawn post the following update on their myspace page:
"We'd like to thank everyone that came out to the Los Angeles Murderfest this past weekend. It was an honor playing for all of you and it was well worth taking the short break from writing.
As most of you noticed that night we now have a new bass player in our ranks, Mr. Mike Cosio (Grave Desecration, ex-Excretion, etc.)! We've been working with him for the past month and after his outstanding performance this weekend it's finally official.
Now that we've gotten playing live out of our system for a while, it's time to climb back into our shells and continue writing. Our only scheduled performance at the moment is the recently added Emperor reunion show, on June 3rd at the Key Club in Hollywood. We feel very privileged to be supporting such a legendary entity and hope you will come out and show your support for some black/death metal art!"
Abysmal Dawn has parted ways with bassist Carlos Arriola. The band states: "The split was mainly due to personal reasons on his part and was in no way on bad terms. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and hope that our paths cross again sometime in the future. Take care brother!"
"Meanwhile, we are currently looking for dedicated bass playing individuals in the Los Angeles area with gear, a job, transportation and who are above all else willing to tour! If you are not from the Los Angeles area please know that fame and fortune does not immediately await you here. We are a new band with lots more work to do and anyone that joins will be expected to do it out of a labor of love with hopes of a bigger future. All interested parties please contact email@example.com or myspace.com/abysmaldawn.
Abysmal Dawn's Charles Elliott has sent in the following update regarding the cancellation of the Dismember and Grave tour that they were scheduled to be part of:
"For whatever reasons our tour with Dismember and Grave has been cancelled. This situation is completely out of our control and we hope that people understand and come out to support us next time. Words cannot express how frustrate we feel at the moment after taking this tour on such short notice. We would like to thank Mike Bear (Artisan) for offering to fill in for Carlos on this tour at the last minute. As many of you know he played bass on "From Ashes" and would have done an amazing job. The first date of the tour will still take place at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood on December 1st. The lineup for the night will be Abysmal Dawn, Coffin Texts, Letum Ascensus, Nema and Unsanctified. Tickets are only $8 for the night and if you bought tickets in advance you can come down to the show for either a partial or full refund."
This announcement comes not long after The Absence dropped off the Entombed, Dismember, and Grave tour "because of several unresolved problems" with their booking agent.
ABYSMAL DAWN have been added to the West Coast DISMEMBER/GRAVE tour. The band commented "It is a pleasure to be touring with two legends of the genre, especially when they have provided such a great source of inspiration to us over the years. We're looking forward to hitting the road again after our highly successful trek with SIX FEET UNDER, KRISIUN and DECAPITATED. Hopefully we'll see some familiar faces real soon!"
