Arson Anthem Announces Debut Release Date

Arson Anthem, the band featuring former Pantera, Superjoint Ritual and current Down frontman Phil Anselmo, along with Hank Williams III (also formerly of Superjoint Ritual), Mike IX Williams (Eyehategod, Outlaw Order) and Colin Yeo of Ponykiller fame, has announced that they will be releasing their debut full length album, "Insecurity Notoriety" on October 12th through Anselmo's Housecore Records.

Anselmo comments: "I'm not sure what it is... but when Hank III, Colin, Mike and I get into "Arson" mode, time stops. We know the mission is to write unforgiving hardcore inspired by a slew of '80's bands... but the result is its own animal, yet not too terrible removed from the genuine article.

"With that said, Insecurity Notoriety is like listening to an old favorite blast from the skanking past... vicious, snotty, grating and anthemic! I know it's typical to call a modern-day hardcore band 'fresh' or 'different', especially when it's your band, but... it is! This effort makes our first EP sound like child's play, as it should. Play it over and over! Piss everyone off!"

Crowbar Signs with E1 Music, Plans New Album

Sludge metal legends CROWBAR have signed a worldwide deal with E1 Music. The band will be releasing a new full-length album later this fall. "CROWBAR is very excited to have landed this deal with E1 Music! We have always been very proud of what we do and the new record will not disappoint and of our die hard fans." says front man and guitar player Kirk Windstein.

The forthcoming album will be the follow up to the band’s last album, "Lifesblood for the Downtrodden," which was released out in 2005. Windstein continues. "Big thanks to Jamey Jasta, Steve Ross and the legal team at E1 Music. Get ready, with a real label behind us we will crush!"

E1 Music Vice President of Metal Scott Givens adds, "CROWBAR have influenced a generation of great bands and E1 is fully committed to making this the band’s biggest selling record of its long and storied career."

Kirk Windstein formed CROWBAR in 1991. Since that time, the band's sound has profoundly influenced a new generation of metal acts the world over. Weinstein is also a key member of KINGDOM OF SORROW (with HATEBREED front man Jamey Jasta) and DOWN.

Update Issued On Phil Anselmo Autobiography

MetalSucks contributor Corey Mitchell recently announced he'd be helping Pantera/Down front man Philip Anselmo write his autobiography. Mitchell revealed some details about the writing process in a recent review of a Warbeast show in Dallas, at which Anslemo made a guest appearance. An excerpt follows:

"Anselmo has also given me carte blanche to talk to anyone from his past to either fill in the blanks on some stories he may have forgotten, confirm what he remembers, and also to shoot down any stories he may not have a complete grasp on. He also told his buddies from the early days of Pantera to be brutally honest with me, because he wants nothing but the truth to go out to the readers – the good, the bad, and the downright fuckin’ ugly."

Down Checks In With New "Fan Appreciation" Update

Down has posted two new live video clips online, which can be viewed below. The band has also checked in with the following update:

"Down fan appreciation April 2010! Well, not much to say about the DVD not reaching the shelves on March 23. We'll be sure to keep you updated on the situation. In the meantime, we thought it would be fun to let some more stuff leak out seeing how much everybody enjoyed the first 'Fan appreciation' post we put up. We want to do the same thing all over again! More videos, music, pics, and slashed prices at the store.

"First the videos. On the youtube page you will now find raw footage of Down doing Stone The Crow and Mourn in Houston from the Metallica tour in 2008. The audio is a little rough. It's hard to hear Philip but that's the fault of the camcorder microphone, not Philip, the venue, or the sound guys. This is just as raw as footage gets. The video is actually not bad and is available in HD. This stuff is NOT on the dvd. The dvd has stuff from the 2006 Euro tour only. Nothing from the 2006 New Orleans show at Tipitina's as it's been rumored.

"For music: 2 songs have been uploaded to the facebook and myspace players. They are Hail The Leaf and Ghosts along the Mississippi from the 2002 tour. Down recorded Stone The Crow acoustic that day in the XM Radio studio, then went and played these songs live that night in Washington DC at the 9:30 club. ...and that's what we have for everybody! Thanks again to everybody for keeping their chin up and being patient for the dvd. It will be worth the wait! More...

Down has also made their song, "On March The Saints" available as a free download from their official website. Anselmo's message reads as follows:

"Unbelievable! We shocked the world! Congrats to our New Orleans Saints, the coaches, the staff, the general manager and the owners!!! Even before this season started, just looking at the roster, I had an insane feeling this year could be THE year! Everyone knows how powerful our offense is, but the defensive side of the ball is underrated!!! Look at the post-season stats!!!

"This has been, and will continue to be a season of destiny... there's just too many parallels to count here, but it all adds up: we have arrived! The Mighty NO Saints have cut the heads off two legends (Warner and Farve), now it's time to decapitate the third; one of our own hometown kids, Payton Manning. BRING IT BROTHER!!!!! WE'RE GOING TO THE F-ING SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!

Down Comments On Boston Herald Interview

Down has issued the following statement about a recent interview with the Boston Herald:

"This past week Philip Anselmo did an interview with the Boston Herald to promote Down's show at the House of Blues in Boston. We wanted to clear up some things before the rumor mill starts turning. First off, the band will be writing and recording an album for release in 2010.

"Secondly, re the statement, 'Rex Brown, who also played in Pantera, has left the band for personal reasons' - Rex did not join this tour due to imminent health concerns, the sabbatical is not permanent. As Philip states on stage every night, Rex is the bass player in Down and will continue to be. Lastly, the band haarp, currently touring with Down and signed to Philip's Housecore Records label, hail from New Orleans not North Carolina.

"We hope this clears up the questions that have been flooding in."
