Down has issued the following update about their upcoming activities:
"Hey everybody, it's about time a quick rundown was put out about the status of Down and it's individual members. First, the good news is Down has tentative plans to meet in New Orleans shortly after the Super Bowl to map out 2010. This includes solidifying plans to record and release a 4th full length album! In the meantime, 4 of the 5 guys are celebrating the Saints' first Super Bowl berth. The 5th guy has to settle for celebrating the Cowboy's first playoff win in a looong time. We'll keep you up to date.
"In alphabetical order: Philip Anselmo: Hard at work with his record label; Housecore records, developing bands such as Warbeast and Evil Army. There are also plans to re-release the Crowbar albums through Housecore! More...
Phil Anselmo, the lead vocalist of heavy metal supergroup Down and former frontman of Pantera and Superjoint Ritual, has posted a message online expressing his delight that the New Orleans Saints will be playing at the Superbowl for the first time. Down has also made their song, "On March The Saints" available as a free download from their official website. Anselmo's message reads as follows:
"Unbelievable! We shocked the world! Congrats to our New Orleans Saints, the coaches, the staff, the general manager and the owners!!! Even before this season started, just looking at the roster, I had an insane feeling this year could be THE year! Everyone knows how powerful our offense is, but the defensive side of the ball is underrated!!! Look at the post-season stats!!!
"This has been, and will continue to be a season of destiny... there's just too many parallels to count here, but it all adds up: we have arrived! The Mighty NO Saints have cut the heads off two legends (Warner and Farve), now it's time to decapitate the third; one of our own hometown kids, Payton Manning. BRING IT BROTHER!!!!! WE'RE GOING TO THE F-ING SUPER BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!
"As for perfection in parallels, I can't think of any other words more suitable than...
"ON MARCH THE SAINTS!!!!!!!!"

Down has issued the following statement about a recent interview with the Boston Herald:
"This past week Philip Anselmo did an interview with the Boston Herald to promote Down's show at the House of Blues in Boston. We wanted to clear up some things before the rumor mill starts turning. First off, the band will be writing and recording an album for release in 2010.
"Secondly, re the statement, 'Rex Brown, who also played in Pantera, has left the band for personal reasons' - Rex did not join this tour due to imminent health concerns, the sabbatical is not permanent. As Philip states on stage every night, Rex is the bass player in Down and will continue to be. Lastly, the band haarp, currently touring with Down and signed to Philip's Housecore Records label, hail from New Orleans not North Carolina.
"We hope this clears up the questions that have been flooding in."

In a recent interview with Ffwdweekly, Down drummer Jimmy Bower revealed that the band are coming very close to finishing and releasing their new DVD.
"We’re about to release a live DVD of a tour we did in Europe back when we had absolutely no promotion and no label to speak of, yet we sold out every show. Now that’s gotta tell you something. We’ve worked really hard. We edited it down and filled in some footage; I think it came out really, really well. Looking back at those shows, it’s surreal to see how we’ve gotten better over time."
Rex Brown, the bass player for the supergroup Down and former bassist of metal legends Pantera, has announced that he will be unable to take part in the first leg of Down's North American tour. A replacement for him is expected to be announced shortly.
A message from Brown reads as follows:
"It is with my deepest apologies to let you know that I will not be joining the band on the first leg of the forthcoming US/Canada tour. It has been mutually agreed upon between myself and the guys that I take this time to address some personal issues. Make no mistake I will be joining my brothers on the second leg of the tour and in the studio in the very near future. This is of utmost importance at this time. Thank you all for your support and understanding. I will see y'all really soon!
"With much respect,
