Elevator 22 Calls It Quits

Canadian metal band, Elevator 22 has decided to call it quits. The band has provided the following explanation:

"After nearly nine years as one of the pillars of heavy metal madness in Hamilton, Ontario, Elevator 22 has finally called it a day. This past May 15th marked the final show for Elevator 22. The band has broken up quietly and amicably and the best reason we can provide right now is that Elevator 22 has simply run its course. After nearly a decade together, musical tastes and band chemistry are bound to change. Moreover, after slogging it out for nearly ten years, it’s time to vacate the niche we’ve inhabited and let the newcomers have a shot." More...

Threat Signal Issues Recording Update

Canadian band Threat Signal has issued the following recording update:

"I know I've been a little slow on the updates... But thats a good thing because I'm working my ass off in the studio!

"All of the music (drums, guitars, overdubs, solos, bass, and keys) are completely done and edited. I cant believe how siiiick this record sounds already, and its not even mixed yet. We plan to start mixing later this month.

"I've recently set up a little studio in a small room by myself, and I've been tracking vocals for the last few days. I find this is the best way for me to get the best performance from myself. I have no distractions, and I'm able to sing whenever I need to.

"We'll be working on part deux of the studio videos which will include bass tracking, guitar overdubs and solos, and some random partying. I may even film some of my vocals for you guys as well.

"Thanks for reading and my next blog will be telling you that this album is DONE!!! fuckin right"

Threat Signal Issues Recording Update

Vocalist Jon Howard of Canadian melodic death metallers, Threat Signal, has issued the following recording update:

"Right now I'm sitting in my home studio comping/editing the rhythm guitar tracks we recently recorded... Raymond Hererra and B-Real where nice enough to get us into their studio (Temple Studios) in Chatsworth California to track the guitars for the album earlier in December. We tried many different amps and cabinets to get the most bad ass tone we could. We ended up using Diezel, VHT and Marshall heads, through Randal and Marshall cabs with 8 different mics. Jeremy Blair the Engineer at Temple Studios helped us out a TON with getting the perfect tone. That dude is the shit" More...

Fear Factory, Threat Signal Members Form Arkaea

Fear Factory members Christian Olde Wolbers (guitar) and Raymond Herrera (drums) are proud to announce the debut album of their new group, Arkaea. The band also features one of metal's hungriest young singers, Jon Howard (Threat Signal).

Arkaea has just finished up preproduction and are scheduled to enter the studio to begin recording. This album promises to be as pummeling as anything the gold-selling team of Olde Wolbers and Herrera has ever written.

Olde Wolbers comments: "These songs were designed like the Fear Factory songs that Raymond and I always wrote. However, we've been able to push the boundaries and go out of that context, while remaining heavy."

"Christian and Ray have been writing together for many years, so the music does have a lot of Fear Factory elements," adds Howard. "However, we've been open to trying different things. It basically fuses what I have been doing vocally in Threat Signal with driving Fear Factory rhythms, along with some of our own experimentation. The idea behind the project is to be heavy, but maintain melody at the same time."

Howard has been a part of the Fear Factory family ever since Olde Wolbers served as producer for Threat Signal's debut, Under Reprisal. Given that connection, the chemistry was there the instant the band started playing together.

The band's yet untitled album is due out fall 2008 on KOCH Records and plans for touring are under way in support of the record.

You can preview new music on the band's MySpace page.

It was reported last month that Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera had joined forces with former DAMAGEPLAN singer/HALFORD guitarist Patrick Lachman in a new project called BURN IT ALL. The band was reportedly shopping a four-song demo at the time. It is presently unclear what the formation of Arkaea means to the future of Burn It All.
