German metallers, Caliban, issue the following update:
"We are currently in the pre-production-state and full speed working to move into the studio in a couple of weeks and record the successor of The Awakening. Be curious for the new songs, they're going to turn out a lot more somber compared to the last album! And that won't mean the only improvement, for the upcoming record we are in the middle of negotiations with a few labels! We were able to get an idea of the offers we received so far, and we already picked a favourite. The release date for the finished disk is going to be in Spring 2009, around March/April. The visual equivalent to the songs will be provided by Basti Basti of Callejon, who is going to add some dark touch to the album, he is responsible for the artwork of Heaven Shall Burn and War From a Harlots Mouth, just to name some." Kreator has announced that their forthcoming new album will be entitled, "Hordes Of Chaos" and will be released on January 16th via SPV Records.
Hordes Of Chaos was recorded at Berlin’s Tritonus studios under the direction of producer Moses Schneider. Schneider is renowned for his fresh and exceptionally dynamic working methods with bands and artists such as Beatsteaks and Tocotronic. “We consciously decided on Moses as our producer for the live recording of the basic tracks at the studio,” band mastermind Mille Petrozza explains. “This was the first time since Pleasure To Kill that we worked in this way. The new album is a 100% realistic reflection of Kreator’s live qualities. Instead of exploring every little detail to sterile perfection with the help of computer technology, this time around we wanted to deliver as dynamic a production as possible. There can be no doubt that we’ve achieved our target in Hordes Of Chaos.” The album was mixed in London by Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Bullet For My Valentine, Cradle Of Filth, etc.).
The new studio album will be available in three different versions. The jewel case edition includes the ten regular album songs, and the deluxe version features an additional bonus DVD with an atmospheric making-of in super-8 quality courtesy of a Berlin film maker. As a third option, the ultra deluxe version, comes with a t-shirt, a worthwhile photo book and an extended version of the bonus DVD, as well as the CD.
As early as January, Kreator musicians Mille Petrozza (guitar, vocals), drummer Jürgen ‘Ventor’ Reil, bassist Christian Giesler and guitarist Sami Yli-Sirniö will embark on their two-month European tour alongside Caliban and Eluveite.
German thrash legends Kreator has posted a video teaser online for their forthcoming album. You can check it out below. The rumoured title for the album will be "Hordes Of Chaos" and is set to be released in January via SPV Records. More...
Contraband Candy has released part 1 of their Tuska Festival program. Here's what they say about it: "We show you Finland’s Tuska Festival in its true beer-and-Jäger-drenched glory, the way a proper Metal festival was meant to be enjoyed. With Korpiklaani’s fantastic song ‘Beer Beer’ as the theme tune, you can just imagine the sort of daft bollocks we got up to this time around!"
In this feature, Johan Hegg of Amon Amarth speaks about their new album, computer games and Viking paraphernalia. René has one too many Jägermeisters before the Primordial interview. Mille of Kreator talks about the pros and cons of Pro-Tools, their up and coming European and US tour in 2009 and their next album. Finally, they sign off this episode by interviewing Lord Of The Rings obsessives, Battlelore.
You can watch Part 1 of Contraband Candy's Tuska special feature on their site or below.
Coming shortly in Part 2: interviews with Entombed, Nile, Horna and Korpiklaani. More...
Destruction/Headhunter mainman Schmier was recently interviewed by Metal Asylum, during which he had the following to say regarding the new album "D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N." and touring in support of the record:
Metal Asylum: How far along is the new Destruction album?
Schmier: "The album comes out here (Germany) in August and September in the States and we are gonna try and hook up a tour with our mates Kreator and Sodom for the States. That would be fucking great. We are trying to do this for the beginning of next year."
Metal Asylum: Are you trying anything different with the music for the new Destruction?
Schmier: "I think its maybe a little more technical than the last couple albums (Inventor of Evil and Metal Discharge), maybe a little more harmonies. It has some more lead work."
