Australia's black/thrash instigators from Destroyer 666 have announced new details behind their forthcoming album. The influential metal legends will release "Wildfire" worldwide on February 26th, and the artwork is available below.
Working track titles include "Traitor," "Live and Burn," and a title track. More news regarding the album, including the details behind physical formats and several track premieres will be available in the weeks to come.
Regarding the album cover, artist Zbigniew M. Bielak comments: "Contrary to the usual route, part of my family fled communism to Australia. Thus my isolated cousins used to send me tapes with weird Oz bands like Armoured Angel, Martire, or Hobbs instead of American thrash. There has to be something about the shackled bloodline or maybe the Mad Max thing...or just what frontman KK likes to call '...our innate ability to do everything better than the others,' but damn me if all of those Australian bands were not just fiercer than everyone else. My love for metal from down under endured and finally, after countless merchandise designs and three reissue collaborations, 'Wildfire' is Ddestroyer 666's first brand new album that I have worked on."
Bielak continues, "What survived from the usual brainstorming ordeal is a nod to classic metal imagery in a biker-friendly, Danzig meets Blasphemy vein - a refreshing and welcome exercise in simplicity. Having outlasted retro trends, stripped of all gimmickry right to their very rock n' roll bone, Destroyer 666 stand tall, hailing both Slaughter Lord and Angry Anderson with what is in my opinion their most unforced and classy album to date." Season of Mist is proud to announce the re-signing of Destroyer 666. The influential metal cult act will again release its next extreme masterpiece via the label.
Regarding the re-signing, guitarist/vocalist KK comments: "Believing it is preferable to go with the devil you know, Destroyer 666 has signed for our next album with Season of Mist."
Season of Mist CEO Michael Berberian adds: "Even though they are not the easiest to deal with, re-signing Destroyer 666 is something I really wanted. When you operate in the metal scene, you sometimes need to face the real bad boys. This is not about playing safe."
What a ringing endorsement, eh? Sounds like the band and label just loooove each other. Set to record late July, the forthcoming album promises a return to Destroyer 666's thrashing roots. When asked about the delay between albums (the last studio full-length was "Defiance" back in 2009), KK responded:
"I have been busy with what every red blooded headbanger wants to do: tons of sex, drugs, and heavy metal - just a lot more from all of it than I had planned. Well, now I have taken a break from such things to finish the album, deal with wankers, and start gigging again." More...

The album appears in Decibel's new special issue focusing on the "Top 100 Black Metal Albums Of All Time."
Destroyer 666 is also currently writing material for a new full-length album. "Phoenix Rising" and the band's "Cold Steel...For an Iron Age" were recently re-mastered and re-released with all new packaging.
Season of Mist has issued the following announcement about re-issuing the "Phoenix Rising" album from Destroyer 666:
"After the success of last year’s reissue of the Destroyer 666 classic 'Cold Steel… for an Iron Age,' many fans asked for the 2000 masterpiece 'Phoenix Rising' to get the same treatment. Well that time has come! On August 24th (28th in North America), the Australian warmongers’ sophomore album will hit the stores as CD and LP in remastered editions with brand new artwork and liner notes from the band!
"With the release of their second album 'Phoenix Rising,' DESTRÖYER 666 reached a new dimension. British magazine Terrorizer saw the Australian warriors enter 'a new phase that mixes the best of old school barbarity with quality songwriting' and Aardschok chimed into this praise by giving 90/100 points. With their steadily growing popularity, DESTRÖYER 666 had clearly delivered a must-have masterpiece in the view of old and new fans alike.
"The icing on the cake is that the long-awaited reissue of 'Cold Steel…' in vinyl LP will be released on August 24th as well!" More...

5. July 2012 - 7. July 2012 AT – Salzburg, ExtremeFest Austria

The organizers of Extremefest have now issued the following announcement about confirming Forgotten Tomb and Ultrawurscht:
"Forgotten Tomb been around since 1999 and the Italians have caused quite a stir in the black and dark metal underground! 'Songs To Leave' (2002) or 'Love`s Burial Ground' (2004) are rightfully considered milestones of melancholic dark metal that the fourpiece infuses with doom and black metal elements. In 2011, Forgotten Tomb released their most recent effort 'Under Saturn Retrograde' and fans can look forward to one of the rare appearances of the Italians at the Austrian and German editions of Extremefest!
"It´s all about the sausage with Bavarian / Austrian act Ultrawurscht! Their highly explosive mixture of death metal, grind and hardcore – or simply 'Wurschtcore' – will one day conquer the world, and if you had the chance to check out albums such as 'Cheese Ass Built My Hot Dog' you`ll agree! Mixing metal and sausages should be declared a form of art anyway, so slap some wieners on the grill before checking out Ultrawurscht`s exclusive set at the Austrian edition of the Extremefest 2012!"
