Apocalyptica has experienced a couple legal hurdles recently. First, The Regional Court of Berlin has convicted Apocalyptica for trademark infringement against Rammstein. The Finnish cello metallers face a fine of 45,000 Euro. The Finnish band was sued over the album's release being promoted on stickers, magazines and posters with the words "featuring Rammstein" without the authorization of the band and their management, despite the appearance of Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann and guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe on the track "Helden" (a David Bowie cover of "Heroes").
In other Apocalyptica news, Atlantic Records would not give clearance to promote the album version of "Not Strong Enough," which features Brent Smith of Shinedown, to radio in the US. This was due to Shinedown's "Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)" track off The Expendables soundtrack competing for radio play at the same time. Doug Robb of Hoobastank has now recorded a vocal track for the song and that is the version that will be going to radio in the U.S. on January 18, 2011. The track will be released digitally as well.
UPDATE: Apocalyptica has commented on the Rammstein law suit to clarify the situation.
Alternative metal act Shinedown has posted its latest music video online. The video was shot for the track "Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom)" which was included on the digital soundtrack for the Hollywood film "The Expendables." You can view the video below:
Apocalyptica is set to release its seventh studio album, "7th Symphony," on August 23rd (August 20th in Germany). The majority of the album was produced by Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens Of The Stoneage, Bad Religion etc.) with two other songs produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Motörhead, Papa Roach).
The first single, “End Of Me,” features Gavin Rossdale, best known as the vocalist of the British alternative rock band Bush. The album also features a number of other notable guest performances: Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo plays on "2010"; "Bring Them To Light" features Joseph Duplantier, singer and guitarist of the French death metal band Gojira; "Broken Pieces" is a cooperation with Flyleaf singer Lacey Sturm; and "Not Strong Enough" is sung by Brent Smith (Shinedown).

Hard rock mavens Staind, Shinedown, Chevelle and Halestorm will be teaming up this summer for the “Stimulate This!” tour, a four-band bill designed to offer fans maximum value at a minimal price.
Making its way across the U.S. beginning July 1 and extending through early September, the “Stimulate This!” tour will hit more than 40 U.S. markets, including some of the hardest hit by the recession. In a show of solidarity for their fans, the four bands have worked closely with the concert promoters to create a package of exceptional value for ticket buyers. Through their collective efforts, they’ve been able to maintain modest base ticket prices that remain mostly under $40 each - half the cost of comparable multi-band summer tour packages - with some venues offering lawn seats for less than $10. Additionally, each tour stop will include special promotions for ticket holders that will vary from market to market, but could include discounts on concessions at the venue during the show, store discounts at local retailers, and online rebates for band merchandise to name a few.
“Wall Street got its bailout; now it’s time for rock fans to get theirs,” said Staind frontman Aaron Lewis. “This summer, we want to give our fans one night where they can forget about everything else and experience a great rock show.”
"We've always said that we, as a band, only answer to one boss...and that's everyone in the audience,” offers Shinedown's Brent Smith. "It’s our job...our privilege to offer our fans an escape. Teaming up with these other great bands, we're doing what we can to help lift everyone's spirits in these tough times…the power of music can do that."
Here are the confirmed "Stimulate This!" tour dates featuring Staind, Shinedown, Chevelle and Halestorm (except where noted): More...
