Welcome to the return of This Week In Metal, a column I used to do before I was forced to take a hiatus from metalunderground.com. In this weekly column, we will update the top 10 selling albums in the metal industry (courtesy of CMJ) and the top 10 radio singles (pulled from Music Match). They use a number of sources for the list, including all satellite radio. While you may find a few bands that are too soft for the list, I assure you there will be more then enough surprises. Feel free to comment on the list and who you think is over/under-rated, what bands you expected to see and which ones you didn't. Again this column will run weekly, so be sure to check for it every Thursday in the columns area of MetalUnderground.com.
Now for the music, we will start each week with the albums. It's a good mix of what bands are bursting the underground, and some bands that have been killing for quite a while now.
|1||Shadows Fall||Fallout From The War||1||1|
|2||SYL||The New Black||1||2|
|3||All That Remains||The Fall Of Ideas||1||3|
|6||Stone Sour||Come What(ever) May||1||6|
|7||BTBAM||The Anatomy Of||1||7|
|9||The Acacia Strain||Dead Walk||1||9|
|10||Bury Your Dead||Beauty And The Breakdown||1||10|
Now for the tunes. These singles are a real who's who amongst metal right now. I find the list to be powerful and only really have one flaw. Keep in mind some songs have been out longer then others and have picked up a good fanbase on the radio, other songs have just come out and are sure to see their time at the top.
|1||Shadows Fall||Will To Rebuild||1||1|
|3||Lamb of God||Redneck||1||3|
|5||All That Remains||This Calling||1||5|
|7||Threat Signal||Rational Eyes||1||7|
|9||Black Label Society||Concrete Jungle||1||9|

Nebraska-based extreme melodic metallers Cellador have announced the addition of 22-year-old Brazilian guitarist Bill Hudson (ex-The Supremacy) to the group's ranks. "Bill's tremendous playing style combined with his outrageous ability to learn on the fly has secured our decision in choosing him for the band," stated guitarist Chris Petersen. "You don't know dedication until you see someone jump continents to be apart of a band. We are looking forward to the many wondrous power metal adventures we're bound to have together."
Bill will be joining Cellador at Mana Studios in Tampa, Florida in December for the recording of the band's debut via Metal Blade Records. The album, which will be produced by Erik Rutan is tentatively due late spring.
CELLADOR is a melodic speed/power metal band from Omaha, Nebraska. Originally formed in Summer 2004 by guitarist Chris Petersen, CELLADOR was founded with the purpose of introducing aggressive European influenced melodic speed/power metal to the Midwest USA, where the style is completely nonexistent and virtually unknown. CELLADOR spent the fall and winter months of 2004 writing and rehearsing, and began playing live by March 2005. In May, CELLADOR came out with the demo, Leaving All Behind, which The Black Dahlia Murder guys passed on to Brain Slagel, after the band opened for them in Omaha. Impressed by their skill and musicianship, Brian Slagel offered the band a contract making them one of Metal Blade Records latest singings.
“I am truly excited about our latest signing, CELLADOR. They are a young band with incredible musicianship and songs. We have been looking just for this type of band who mix the old school metal with a fresh attitude.” Brian Slagel Owner/CEO Metal Blade Records Inc.
"We are very proud and excited to be welcomed to the METAL BLADE family. With its current roster and unprecedented history of dedication and integrity, it is with great honor and gratitude that we have been chosen and given the opportunity to represent true American melodic speed metal on one of the biggest labels in the world of metal. Their past success and dedication is only a greater source of inspiration now for us to press forth with pushing true metal to its extreme. Look out for us!!" Chris Petersen- Guitarist CELLADOR
Cellador is currently writing and rehearsing, and plan on recording this December with their debut Metal Blade release to be out sometime in the spring of 2006. To check out some of the bands triumphant songs head over to their MySpace page HERE.
In other news CELLADOR is currently auditioning for the position of lead guitar and keyboard player. The individual must excel in playing both lead and rhythm at slow to often very energetic speeds, and must also have and maintain a committed, motivated, and cooperative personality that benefits the band as a whole. The band would prefer a young and energetic individual between the ages of 18-24 who is able and willing to travel, and with a large background in metal. If interested, send an email with your name and past band experience to email@example.com for more information.
