Power Quest Gets New Guitarist, Bill Hudson

UK-based melodic power metal act Power Quest has announced that former Cellador and current Coldera guitarist Bill Hudson has been recruited into the Power Quest ranks.

PQ Mainman Steve Williams comments: "I'm absolutely ecstatic with this news! I've been good friends with Bill for a couple of years now and we have often talked about working together in some shape or form and now we have the perfect opportunity to do just that. As well as being a fantastic guitarist, Bill is also a great songwriter too which means this is going to benefit the band on a number of levels. Welcome aboard brother!"

Bill adds: "We've always talked about doing something together at some point, but the closest we've got to it was my guest solo (in the song The Vigil) on the new record. When I left Cellador, I had no idea I would end up being in Power Quest. So I'm really excited about it, as it's a great band, my style will fit right in and they have one of the best guitarists in current metal, Andrea Martongelli. It'll be a pleasure to be the other 50% of this killer guitar duo! I look forward to meeting the fans during the Master of Illusion tour!"

Power Quest is currently booking a UK tour for later this year to promote their latest release, "Master of Illusion," which has successfully been launched worldwide via Napalm Records / Avalon Marquee (Japan). The album has already been nominated in numerous magazines and webzines for album of the year and shot right to number 8 in the Japanese HMV charts in the 2nd week after the release.

Cellador Searching For Second Guitarist

Omaha, NE-based metallers CELLADOR have posted this bulletin on their MySpace page:

"GUITARISTS!

Ok so we were gonna put this off for a bit and focus on record 2, but your persistance, emails, and messages paid off I guess so we'll go ahead and post the official audition rules now to settle ya'lls down:

CELLADOR is seeking a second guitarist to complete our live sound and further contribute personality to our music. We're seeking an energetic and motivated player that understands our musical direction(important!) and meets the following:

- Must be 18+ years old

- Able and willing to travel, this means able to take time off from work/school/familly when needed

- Has simple means of recording, such as a home studio or computer recording setup(as we'll have you record CELLADOR songs to be considered)

- Energetic and confident stage presence

- No major criminal record, as this makes international travel difficult

- Has upmost high degree of MATURITY (no dramaqueens, attention whores, ego maniacs, crybabies, aka in the game to play music and not be a rockstar), if you're prone to mood swings don't waste your time.

Relocation is not required so long as steady communication is maintained and you are able to make ends meet for the band. If you are interested in auditioning either message us here or send an email to contact[at]cellador.com. It will be a bit before we make any final decisions, unless you happen to be the perfect fit.

So have at it!"

Cellador Guitarist Leaves The Band

Guitarist Bill Hudson has quit the Nebraska-based extreme power metal babd CELLADOR. His statement on the matter reads as follows:

"After thinking about it for a long time and after a very relaxing holiday season, which included appearances at the NAMM show in Anaheim, I have decided that it's best for me if I part ways with CELLADOR.

"I'll be flying back to Omaha tomorrow, but the band is already aware of my decision. I'm really only going back to take care of the last details, before I move to L.A. permanently.

"CELLADOR and I did great things together, and a good fan-base was built. I played some of the most insane shows of my life with this band, including our recent appearance at Loudpark 07 in Japan in front of 12,000 crazy fans, and one at ProgPower USA, which was a dream I had since I was a teenager. Not to mention the great tours we were in during 2006.

"As far as my career goes, I'm starting a new band with a lineup that features some well-known names, but that info will be released at a later time. Look forward to some kick-ass metal!

"CELLADOR was a great experience which I'll remember for a long time.

"I want to thank everybody in and involved with CELLADOR, our record label Metal Blade Records and all of our fans from all over the world for the support!

"Trust me; I will NOT let you down with my new material! It's already writen and most of it is demoed. It'll be posted before you think!"

CELLADOR's debut CD, "Enter Deception", was released in June 2006 via Metal Blade.

Leaves' Eyes Frontman Talks King Diamond Tour

As previously reported, the North American Tour together with KING DIAMOND, KREATOR, LEAVES’ EYES and CELLADOR in spring 2008 has been cancelled due to serious health problems concerning King Diamond.

Leaves’ Eyes mainman Alex Krull (ATROCITY) comments: "Hello everybody, we unfortunately have to say that the North American Tour from Leaves’ Eyes together with King Diamond, Kreator and Cellador had to be cancelled as many of you already know. King Diamond has got a serious problem with his back which makes it impossible for him to go on tour in the next time. We got this news with a heavy heart, all our best wishes for a fast recovery for the King!! Healthiness goes first and we can understand his decision 100%. Of course we would have loved to present a great show for our fans in the USA and Canada. We even wanted to surprise you with new material from the next Leaves’ Eyes album! We hope however seeing all of you very soon.

Leaves’ Eyes are currently working at their next album and the finishing of the first Leaves’ Eyes DVD. Furthermore, new musicians are being sought for the position of drummer and bass player for Leaves’ Eyes and Atrocity.

Says Alex Krull: "We were very pleased with the reactions so far. Many interesting musicians of all different genres and places have applied so far. A big thank you to all of you who already wrote to us. We are checking all applications and we are still looking for more potential candidates. We would like to have people around us that are somehow down-to-earth and reliable but very much committed to music. This is for sure very important for us because of the two different directions of both bands. On the one hand we need people that are able to play all the crazy stuff in Atrocity such as extreme (double-bass) drumming and bass patterns beyond 225 bpm. On the other hand we need people who can play the groovy and filigree mid-tempo-beats for Leaves’ Eyes. Not an easy job and a real challenge for every musician. People who want to apply for the job, contact us at info@mastersoundentertainment.de."

Cellador Comment On King Diamond Tour

Guitarist Bill Hudson of the Nebraska-based power metallers CELLADOR has issued the following update:

Alright, we've been getting tons of e-mails asking us whether the tour with KING DIAMOND, KREATOR and LEAVES' EYES is entirely cancelled or only the King is out of it.

"My honest answer as of right now is: I DON'T KNOW.

"I talked to our booking agent (John Finberg at First Row Talent, the guy who put the tour together) yesterday and he told me he's been working on a 'plan B' for three days and nobody more than him wanted this tour to happen. I can tell he's really bummed about it.

"It's almost funny, but ever since that happened, it seems like some of the bands are having problems. LEAVES' EYES has just parted ways with two members and we're having some problems I'd rather not talk about just yet. But what I CAN say is that we were supposed to be at the studio right now and the recordings were postponed.

"Now, another question we've been getting is: 'Is the January/February tour cancelled?' I do have an answer for that: NO, IT'S NOT.

"We will not cancel any shows on that tour. It starts on January 15th in Charlotte, NC and ends on February 10th in Houston, TX. About March 22nd - May 7th, please just sit tight. We'll announce something real soon. I really don't know what, but there will be something!" More...

Cellador Guitarist Available For Session Work

CELLADOR guitarist Bill Hudson is currently offering his guitar playing skills to any serious bands that need a studio or touring guitar player in the near future.

Commented Hudson: "I regret to inform everybody that the recordings of CELLADOR's new album were postponed until further notice. We won't be going into the studio this year, and our next tour (alongside TRAIL OF TEARS, ECHOES OF ETERNITY and UNEXPECT) will not start until January 15th, 2008. I believe we'll start recording after that tour is over. That left me with a considerable amount of free time, and I really don't want to stay at home when I could be working. Currently, I am in Minneapolis, MN recording the guitar solos for the next AVIAN album, but I will be done tomorrow (November 10th). I have lots of touring experience and can travel anywhere in the world (I live in the United States). Any interested parties should contact me via e-mail (bill@cellador.com) or my MySpace page."

Besides his work with CELLADOR and AVIAN, Bill Hudson's experience includes THE SUPREMACY, a project featuring drummer Mark Cross (FIREWIND, ex-HELLOWEEN) and keyboard player Joost Van Den Broek (AFTER FOREVER).

Cellador Guitarist Comment On Avian Appearance

CELLADOR guitarist Bill Hudson is scheduled to make a guest appearance on the new album from AVIAN, the melodic metal band featuring singer Lance King (BALANCE OF POWER, PYRAMAZE) and guitarist Yan Leviathan.

Commented Hudson: I'll be heading to Minneapolis, MN tomorrow (Monday, November 5) to play the guitar solos in the next AVIAN record, which will be called 'Ashes and Madness'. I'm really excited about it!"

"I was really honored when Yan e-mailed me and asked if I'd like to play in it, because not only do I think they're a great band, but I also have two VERY good friends in it: Jonah Weingarten (PYRAMAZE) and Lance King. On top of that, they had David Ellefson (former bass player in MEGADETH) on the first album." More...

Cellador Guitarist Issues Tour Report

Guitarist Bill Hudson of the Nebraska-based power metallers CELLADOR has issued the following update:

"What the hell was that? Seriously, I've always heard that everybody loves to play in Japan and now I know why!"

"Our show at Loudpark 07 was the first ever in Japan, I couldn't believe how many people were there for us and we were the very first band! According to the promoter, there were 12 thousand people and as far my eye could see, everybody was singing our songs. There was a five-minute changeover between bands and they were there for every single one of them, chanting their names! They were even moshing during our set, something I thought Japanese people didn't do!" More...

Leaves' Eyes Reports On Film Shoot In Norway

Liv Kristine and Alex Krull just returned from a Leaves' Eyes film shooting in Norway. Liv commented: "We travelled with our crew along the incredibly interesting and breath-taking west coast of Norway. Our journey started in Stavanger, my hometown. We filmed in sunny and rainy weather, which really shows the harsh climate of this region. We went through the fjords by boat and spent hours at the North Sea catching waves. We drove through the mountains, visited the old town of Stavanger, moreover, we did a lot of interviews, also with my family members. Most of the material will be presented on our up-coming DVD, however, it was also very important to gather nature shots for our special show at the Metal Female Voices Fest in Wieze, Belgium 20 October 2007. We would like the audience to see that we are very close to nature and that Norway is part of Leaves' Eyes. A warm thank you to hard-working Stefan Liebhauser (The Day After) and Gunnar Sauermann (Metal Hammer) who did a fantastic job, fixing this visually."

:eaves' Eyes has announced only a few more shows this year, with major touring (of the US) next year with King Diamond, Kreator and Cellador. The latest Leaves' Eyes tour dates follow: More...
