Out of Norway's biggest and darkest metal bands rises Ov Hell. This group of Satan’s all-stars has been sharpening their teeth in some of black metal's most influential bands for many years. Known as key figures in bands such as Dimmu Borgir and Gorgoroth, Shagrath and King have come together to bring forward a new chapter in Norwegian black metal history. Ov Hell will carry on in the same tradition for which King and Shagrath are known, but the collaboration between the two will mark a new era for them both.
Frost (Satyricon, 1349), Ice Dale (Enslaved, I) and Teloch (Nidingr, God Seed, 1349) have been recruited for the first full-length release. The album will contain all of the power and blast beats worthy of their evil pedigrees.
King comments: "The first Ov Hell release will contain music I've worked on in my Gorgoroth and God Seed years. It's been a little hell to actually see this music form into a band, so the name of the band is quite suitable. Through the first song I got from Shagrath I knew that he would be the perfect man to join forces with. He has strong individual qualities and a strong will to power. I am very positive that when we finish up this album it will be an album that won't sound like anything we have done before, and with a quality that won't stand back from anything presented in black metal earlier!"
Shagrath comments: “With both of our demanding music careers and other projects, timing was not on our side. After last years inferno festival, King and I yet again joined forces to brainstorm our need to collaborate our passion for dark art. Over the course of the past year, King sent me demo ideas that were so inspiring it made me put my skeptic feelings aside. I wasn't sure if I wanted to have another Black Metal project but my unquenchable thirst to explore my darkest beast, launched the birth Ov Hell. The majestic Ov Hell has become a band that reflects our roots, raw, ugly, arrogantly blasphemous with uncompromising truth from two influential Norwegian musicians needing to express our primitive side, straight out Ov Hell.”
Two new tracks, "Devil's Harlot" and "Ghosting" from the yet untitled upcoming album, have been uploaded to the band's MySpace.
Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir, Chrome Division) - vocals
King (God Seed, Gorgoroth, Jotunspor, I, Sahg, Audrey Horne) - bass
Ice Dale (Enslaved, I, Audrey Horne, Trinacria, Demonaz) - guitar
Frost (Satyricon, 1349) - drums
Teloch (Nidingr, God Seed, 1349, Umoral) – guitar.

Infernus of Gorgoroth has issued the following recap of their recent appearance at the Hole In The Sky Festival in Norway:
"I am pleased to confirm that all went very well at the show in Bergen, Norway, last saturday. We performed the longest set ever in the history of the band, and the local crew and the organization did a great job making the event run as according to our will as it did. We also enjoyed the chance to get to perform on the same stage as the legendary Virgina doom act, Pentagram. Thank you. Above all - thank you to the dedicated crowd attending. Sorry for keeping you waiting two years for this.
"Now, let that be made clear, there is more to come. The next confirmed show will be in Trondheim, October 19th, and there will be other live activities added later on. Further info will be announced on an updated the Gorgoroth website soon."

Gorgoroth has issued the following announcement about finishing the recording for their upcoming album:
"The ninth Gorgoroth album, 'Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt', has now been completed. The album was recorded in Tomas Asklund's Monolith Studio, and features Infernus on guitars, Frank Watkins on bass, Pest on vocals and Tomas Asklund on drums. Since Infernus wrote all the music for the album and extensive rehearsals and a pre-recording had also been made before second guitarist Tormentor re-joined the band last year, it was decided that it would be more convenient for Infernus to record all the guitars on the album. The album is produced by Infernus and co-produced/engineered by Tomas Asklund. It will be mastered at Cutting Room Studios in Stockholm in July. It will be released in Europe by Regain Records on October 21st and in the US on November 11th."
The tentative track listing for "Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt" will be as follows:

Gorgoroth has issued the following update about re-recording the vocals for the "True Norwegian Black Metal" album after the band's split with former vocalist Gaahl:
"TRUE NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL - ALBUM UPDATE
"Gorgoroth has recently spent time at Threeman Recordings in Stockholm with Nico Elgstrand (Entombed), where, among other things, Pest has successfully replaced the vocals for the 'True Norwegian Black Metal' album. Infernus has already consulted legal representatives regarding this album, and is prepared to support Regain Records in the label's ongoing legal conflict with two of the band's ex-members, if any such support is needed.
"Also, there is now an official Gorgoroth page on Facebook; this page can be found here."
Gorgoroth has issued the following update about upcoming live shows and a new album:
"After a two-year absence from the live arena, Gorgoroth will once again perform their Satanic rituals on stage on August 29, 2009. Gorgoroth will then headline the last night of the 10th anniversary Hole in the Sky Metal Festival in Bergen, Norway, with none other than US doom legends Pentagram as co-headliners! More info on the festival can be found at www.holeinthesky.no. This exclusive Gorgoroth concert will be held in tribute of the band's former drummer Erik 'Grim' Brødreskift (1966-1999). The setlist will include classic songs from the legendary 'Pentagram' album - not played live for 12 years - and perhaps also brand new material from the upcoming album, 'Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt'. If and when any other Gorgoroth live appearances this summer are confirmed, they will be made public here on the official website.
"The recording of Gorgoroth's new studio album 'Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt' is progressing according to schedule, with a tentative October 2009 release date. The album will be released by Regain Records.
"A new official Gorgoroth MySpace profile is now under construction, and can be found here."
More comments have been made on both sides of the camp regarding God Seed's recent signing to Indie Recordings. The label commented:
"Through the last years we've worked with King & Gaahl in many different bands and projects such as. Gorgoroth, Trelldom, Sahg, Audrey Horne and Wardruna. The quality of their work has always been outstanding, and we welcome this opportunity to once again work with them – this time building something new together. The as-yet-untitled God Seed album will be released late 2009. The album has been in the making for some time already, and continues the already established path of King and Gaahl in a natural, yet progressive way.
"The new material sounds great and we are truly looking forward to be a part of their new musical carrier through God Seed."
In a press statement King comments the signing and the upcoming album:
"I have high hopes for the future signing to Indie Recordings. Gaahl and I have had various negative experiences with labels in the past, but feel confident that we have made the right choice this time. Indie Recordings consists of people we have worked with in the past and they have shown 100% professionalism. They have proven to take care and bring the best out of the bands on their roster. The fact that they are a Norwegian label and not a Swedish label makes me even more optimistic for the future!!"
God Seed's studio line up is as follows:
Vocals - Gaahl
Bass - King
Drums – Frost (Satyricon, 1349)
Guitar – Ice Dale (Enslaved, I, Audrey Horne)

Former Gorgoroth members Gaahl and King Ov Hell has announced that they will now be using the moniker of God Seed. The band has also signed to Indie Recordings and will be releasing their debut album in the later part of this year. King Ov Hell states: "The past 18 months has been a struggle on many levels. Therefore I’m very excited about God Seed - even on a personal level. Hopefully this will lead to growth to me personally and for the band as a whole. It’s time to use my energy on something that wants to live, rather than to use my energy on something that wants to die and be part of my past!!!"
A decision has been reached in the case regarding who is entitled to use the band name Gorgoroth between guitarist Infernus and previous members Gaahl and King Ov Hell.
Oslo City District Court has today (Tuesday, March 10th) delivered a verdict on the main question in the Gorgoroth trademark case, which took place at the end of January 2009.
The court has decided that King Ov Hell's trademark registration #243365 of the band name Gorgoroth is NOT valid and shall therefore be deleted. More...
The Gaahl fronted version of Gorgoroth has issued the following statement about a recent show being canceled:

Mayhem and Cradle of Filth had to cancel their shows the same day as well. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused people who traveled from all corners of the world to witness this special event."
