Cradle Of Filth Singer Forms New Band

A new band has been formed which features members from some of the biggest names in metal. The new group, named Temple Of The Black Moon, is fronted by Cradle Of Filth singer Dani Filth and also includes in it's ranks Anthrax/The Damned Things guitarist Rob Caggiano, bass player King Ov Hell (Ov Hell/Sahg/former Gorogoroth) and drummer John Tempesta, who has worked with a variety of bands including White/Rob Zombie, Exodus, Testament and The Cult, of whom is he is still a member. The band describe their sound as "a cauldron bubbling over with the unsavory flavors of Tool and Celtic Frost, and seasoned with the likes of Immortal and At The Gates."

Speaking about the name, Dani Filth commented: "We had an innumerable amount of names that never seemed likely to stick, that was until we put our proverbial heads together and narrowed it down to just three or four, and then tossed for it (proverbially of course) using a silver Norwegian crown (we couldn't find any proper money). The name Temple Of The Black Moon represents the rigorous worship of desire, (the black moon astrologically has always held association with the dark Goddess Lilith) and of course the ramifications of the lunar eclipse, always a herald for death and ill-omen."

The band has recorded almost an album's worth of material and is planning to record the songs in Bergen, Norway for a full-length album, which is expected to be released in the summer of next year.

Song titles thus far include "Infernal Desire Machine," "Don't Call Up What You Can't Put Down," "Dark Eyes For Trouble," "Beautifully Perverse," and "C.N.T (All That's Missing Is You)."

Obituary Parts Ways With Longtime Bassist

In a recent interview with Tomb Of The Opinionated, Obituary singer John Tardy confirmed the rumour that the band has parted ways with bass player Frank Watkins, who has been performing with the latest incarnation of Gorgoroth.

Tardy states: "Frank is no longer in the band and Terry Butler (Six Feet Under) will be doing all the shows that he can with us. Right now we are happy with that and if Terry’s schedule does not allow him to play with us we can always lean on Stever DiGiorgio (Sadus) or Kenny Andrews."

He also gave an update on the band's next studio album, which will be the first to be recorded without Watkins since 1989's, "Slowly We Rot.": "We have been doing so much traveling that is has been hard to get much done but, we have managed to get some songs started. We now have some time set aside to get some writing done so we will know more in the next couple of months. We are in no hurry and are going to take our time and enjoy the writing and recording process!"

Gorgoroth Announces European Tour

Notorious Norwegian black metal veterans Gorgoroth has announced that they will be embarking on a headlining tour of Europe this November. So far, only one date has been confirmed, which will take place on November 25th at Le Cargö in Caen, France. Guitarist and founder Infernus stated:

"We're totally excited about this! To get the opportunity to extend the Quantos Possunt-tour into other European territories which we did not have time for in April. As of now, we aim at doing this as the second out of three in total. This also coincides with the beginning of a new chapter for us in terms of booking-agency, as I last week made up my mind and decided to switch to Massive Music for the continental parts of Europe. Fear the return!"
