The Crown Announces 2026 Farewell Plans
Swedish death metal band The Crown has announced their planned farewell tour and disbandment in 2026.
After 35 years of creativity and Death Metal mayhem – the time has come to bring The Crown’s journey to an end.
2026 will not only mark our final year of live shows – it will be the final chapter for the band. We want to go out on our own terms, celebrating everything this band has stood for: energy, passion, and the love of extreme music. Most importantly, this farewell is for you – our fans.
Your dedication and loyalty have kept this band alive for over three decades. Every show in 2026 will be our way of saying thank you for all the years of support, the endless energy from the crowds, and for standing with us through every era of The Crown.
Throughout 2026, we’ll perform Farewell shows around the world, meeting fans one last time. Each show will be a tribute to the past, the present, and the unstoppable spirit that’s fueled The Crown since day one. Everything has its time – and this is ours. Thank you for 35 years of loyalty, chaos, and Metal. Let’s make 2026 the grand finale it deserves!
The Crown Debuts "Gone To Hell" Video
“Gone To Hell” is the latest single from Swedish death metal legends The Crown. The thundering new track comes off the band’s anticipated twelfth studio album, "Crown Of Thorns," set for release on October 11th through Metal Blade Records.
Elaborates The Crown guitarist Marko Tervonen, "‘Gone To Hell’ is a very special song in many ways. As you may have seen on our older albums, there are quite a few songs where the music is by ‘Olsfelt/Tervonen’ [referring to former bassist Magnus Olsfelt]. But that doesn’t actually mean that we wrote the song together. It was more about Magnus ‘stealing’ some riffs from me from songs that never made it to the albums. So he nicked the best stuff and included them into his songs. But ‘Gone To Hell’ was the first time we wrote something together. Magnus showed me the basic riffs to the song, on bass. We recorded it to a metronome and then I sort of ‘took over.’ I added the melodies, arranged it, wrote the drums and vocals etc. So, it was actually the only song we ever worked on together before he left the band. The song is more mid-tempo oriented; it almost has some post-punk elements to it. I personally love it and I’m super proud of it. I expect to read a lot of ‘what is this soft song shit’ from people, otherwise I will be very disappointed!"

The Crown Premiere New Single & Music Video
Sweden's death metal outfit The Crown have announced "Crown Of Thorns" as the title of their twelfth studio album, set for release on October 11th through Metal Blade Records. The album was recorded at Studio-MT in their hometown of Trollhättan, Sweden, with rhythm guitarist Marko Tervonen taking on production duties. “Churchburner” the latest single from the effort and an official music video for it are now available for streaming via YouTube and Spotify for you below.
Comments Tervonen:
“‘Churchburner‘ starts out with a nod to ‘Postmortem‘ [Slayer] but then explodes into quite a different type of monster. It has a great groove to it, and it basically has a tempo/beat that we don’t use that often. It’s mostly in triplets. It’s a very strong song with Johan being on fire here and Marcus adds a killer solo as well.”

70000 Tons Of Metal 2023: Day One
In the modern metal world full of festivals, it seems that cruises are becoming more and more common. Whether it be Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager At Sea, the Kiss Kruise or the Mediterranea Metal Cruise, heavy metal on the open sea is becoming more and more common. However, to understand how this became a thing, you need look no further than 70000 Tons Of Metal, which as it proudly boasts, is the world's original metal cruise.
First setting sail in 2011, the floating festival quickly grew in size, popularity and prestige to become the institution it is today. After a few years away thanks to the worldwide bastard that was the COVID-19 pandemic, the cruise returned last week for its eleventh voyage. Boasting some of metal's most popular names, cult favourites and up and comers, 70000 Tons was back with a vengeance.
To get festivities underway, sailors had a choice between British death metal veterans Cancer or German heavy metal stalwarts Iron Savior. Fortunately, with every band scheduled to play twice, it's only a matter of scheduling and not worrying about missing out that helps form decisions. So it was decided that the best way to get the ball rolling was Iron Savior, given their more upbeat sound. They proved to be the perfect choice, as their sonic bridge between heavy and power metal matched the excitement felt on board. Of course, with nearly thirty years of music under their belts, not all albums could be represented in forty five minutes, but the carefully chosen setlist including three songs from "Kill Or Get Killed." The chemistry between frontman Piet Sielck and bassist Jan-Sören Eckert also added to the fun of a memorable set which concluded with "Break The Curse" from 2004's, "Battering Ram." Swedish death metal veterans Hypocrisy has been announced as the final name for this year's edition of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise. The festival will take place aboard the Freedom Of The Seas ship and will sail from Port Miami in Florida on January 30th, heading to Bimini, Bahamas before returning on February 3rd.

Austrian blackened death metal stalwarts Belphegor has been announced as the latest addition for this year's edition of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise. The floating festival, which will take place aboard the Freedom Of The Seas, will sail out from Miami, Florida on January 30th and return to port on February 3rd.

Three More Bands Confirmed For 70000 Tons 2023
The organisers of the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise have confirmed a further three names for the 2023 edition of the event, which will launch in just over two weeks on January 30th from Miami, Florida, before returning on February 3rd. Now added to the lineup are Dutch outfit Dear Mother, Canadian progressive metal band Osyron and Colombian melodic death metal group Eshtadur.

Cancer And Wolfchant Confirmed For 70000 Tons 2023
The announcements for the 2023 edition of 70000 Tons Of Metal are coming thick and fast with the organisers of the cruise confirming two more names for the voyage today. British death metal legends Cancer will be boarding the ship, as will German Viking metal band Wolfchant. Speaking on the announcement, Cancer said:
"We are beyond stoked to announce that we will be spreading this fatal disease called death fucking metal at the one and only 70000tons, the world's biggest heavy metal cruise in just a few weeks!
"We've definitely never played in a setting like this one, so you can imagine the four of us are quite excited about it! A good bunch of friends and bands that we love have been already announced and we'll all make a total of 60 artists playing two sets each when the whole line-up gets revealed!
Grab your tickets now before it is too late! See you in Miami and Bimini VERY soon! CFC."
