Through The Eyes of the Dead made a blog post discussing the concept and story behind their new album, "Skepsis," as well as posting all of the lyrics. Here's what they had to say about the concept of "Skepsis:"
"The story is a first person view through the main character who has a strong, skeptical view on humanity and reality. He believes that this reality is a mere illusion, and that there are celestial / spiritual forces at work that control this world, and the human race. He has a re-occurring dream of the nearing apocalypse, and inevitable damnation of mankind. The dream starts to drive him towards extreme paranoia, so he begins to search for answers to his odd suspicion. He then becomes channeled by an omen that gives him a vision of the underworld, and how it is the final destiny for the human race. He becomes maniacal at this point and communicates with the omen, pleading for his fate to be spared and that he may be granted the privilege to become a spiritual force like the omen. He returns from the vision....psychotic, believing that the omen granted him the power to take human lives, so that his can be spared. He loses all consciousness, and morals, and begins to start taking lives uncontrollably, and drinking himself to death. He is void of sanity at this point, possessed by an evil, supernatural force that is killing him with haste. 'The omen' makes him commit suicide and he descents into hell. He awakes in a white room; confused at first, thinking it was just another dream.... only to realize the room is empty, with no exit. He is in his own personal hell for eternity."

Since signing with Prosthetic in 2005, TTEOTD has SoundScanned nearly 60,000 copies and toured with a who's who of heavy music, perhaps most notably as part of the now-legendary 2006 Sounds of the Underground tour that featured a stacked lineup of metal gods In Flames, Trivium, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, GWAR, The Black Dahlia Murder, Despised Icon, As I Lay Dying and more.
South Carolina's THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD have launched the lead track from their new album "Skepsis," entitled "The Manifest," on their newly redesigned Myspace page. The self-produced "Skepsis" hits the streets on February 2, 2010, and is the first TTEOTD release to feature new vocalist Danny Rodriguez, drummer Mike Ranne and guitarist Chris "Hank" Henckel. The album was recorded at Geller Cellar Studios in New York and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall), and like previous TTEOTD releases, it features cover art by Paul Romano (Mastodon, Trivium).
Guitarist Justin Longshore commented on the new release: "Our new record 'Skepsis' finally captures the sound we've always envisioned. We really wanted to raise the bar with this one but also keep the consistency that Through The Eyes Of The Dead is known for. Overall, everyone has become better at their instruments and it really shows on the record. I have no doubt in my mind that new and old fans of the band will be pleased when they hear it!" More...

Justin Longshore, the band's guitarist had this to say: "The recording process for 'SKEPSIS' has been going really well. We really focused on writing a record that will satisfy fans of our previous two records along with pushing new boundaries. Danny is currently finishing up vocal tracking and we couldn't be any more satisfied with the way things are sounding. I'm really stoked for everyone to hear these new songs. "
The cover of the album, was done by artist Paul Romano, who has also done covers for THE ACACIA STRAIN, MASTODON, and THE RED CHORD, among many others.
Longshore commented, "We had Paul Romano do the artwork once again and it is easily one of my favorite pieces he has done. It really captures the concept and music that is behind the album. We wanted the art to really project and not look like every other metal album that you see at your local record shop. We'll be leaving for tour with Despised Icon in a week so make sure you come out and see an awesome tour!"

South Carolina death metal band Through the Eyes of the Dead has issued the following update from Gellar Cellar Studios:
"We are currently at Gellar Cellar studios completing the guitar tracking and everything is coming out great! We are really excited for everyone to hear this new record. As previously announced, Erik Rutan will not be mixing the album due to scheduling conflicts. I will be staying with our engineer, Eliot, to collaborate on the mix once tracking is done and then we are heading out on tour with Despised Icon. Paul Romano is handling the artwork and the cover should be revealed hopefully really soon! Check out our myspace for all the tour dates coming up and come out if you are in the area. More dates will be added very soon so keep checking!
With no word on their latest lineup, South Carolina deathcore band Through The Eyes Of the Dead has entered the studio once again. The band will be giving daily updates via Twitter.
New York City metallers, We Are the Romans, featuring members of My Bitter End, Invocation of Nehek and Through the Eyes of the Dead, have made their new E.P., "The Prosperity Pandemic," available for streaming on their MySpace page. The E.P. will be available for digital purchase in the coming week.
Turmoil has confirmed their new singer as Nate Johnson and released a new song exclusively through Lambgoat. Here's the announcement from the band:
"We are very excited to tell you that we have our new singer, and his name is Nate 'Everybody's Favorite Band Whore' Johnson. An observant bartender submitted a video of him doing his best Turmoil karaoke at Local Moose Lodge #42 in Ossipee, NH, and he fucking nailed it. Hopefully he'll stick around for more than 6 weeks. In all honesty he contacted us, told us he has been a longtime fan and submitted a demo. He has a great voice, great presence, and most important of all he is excited about the new recording. We've been trying to keep it under wraps since November because we wanted to present the news along with a finished version of the song 'Papercuts' to let it speak for itself, but due to the fact that he lives so far in the middle of nowhere that we could only reach him via carrier pigeon, it took a little longer than we planned. Here it is, hope you dig it."
Though an announcement has yet to be made, Turmoil has indeed found a replacement for singer Jon Gula, who parted ways with the band this past summer. Now joining the group is Nate Johnson. Over the years, Johnson has fronted a small handful of notable bands, including Through The Eyes Of The Dead and Premonitions Of War.
As you may recall, Johnson recently joined New Jersey's Fit For An Autopsy. Lambgoat reportst that his role with that group will remain unchanged, and in fact, the band just finished recording a new EP with Johnson on vocals.
Darkest Hour has lined up some tour dates on the East Coast where they will be joined by The Red Chord, Through The Eyes Of The Dead, Skeletonwitch and Rose Funeral.
The tour dates are as follows:
December 18 - Wilmington, NC @ The Soapbox (no TRC)
December 19 - Philadelphia, PA @ The Church
December 20 - Pompton Lakes, NJ @ Mainstage
December 21 - Washington, D.C. 2 9:30 Club
Notable hardcore/metal singer Nate Johnson recently joined death metal outfit Fit For An Autopsy. In addition to Johnson, who has done time in Since The Flood, Through The Eyes Of The Dead, and Premonitions Of War, among others. The band also features former members of The Acacia Strain and Shattered Realm. Two new songs from the band are available on the band's MySpace player.
Through The Eyes Of The Dead has announced new Canadian tour date with The Acacia Strain and See You Next Tuesday. "We haven't toured in Canada in almost a year now so we are very excited to play the country again," the band commented.
Here are the tour dates:
11/01/08 - London, Ontario @ Embassy Hotel

My Bitter End drummer Mike Ranne has issued an update regarding the band's status:
"We've been receiving alot of messages about people wanting to know what's going on ith MBE. For those of you who haven't read our most recent blog, Hank and myself now play full-time with Through The Eyes Of The Dead and are currently on the last week of the 'bang you head till we raise the dead' tour with Whitechapel, Impending Doom, and A Different Breed Of Killer. It's been amazing to say the least but back to the subject at hand. MBE will never be 'done' or 'dead'... we simply just can't be a full-time band anymore since all the key members now live in different states. We all keep in contact regularly and we always talk about doing some shows here and there because we love playing this music, but unfortunately because the economy is the way it is and because of some other things I won't get into detail with. We just can't tour, which sucks, but if you got to catch us on any of our previous runs, props. and thanks. Anyways, just wanted to say what's good and fill some people in on things. Hope everyone is doing lovely. come see me and Hank on tour if we're rolling through the area you live in."
