Dew-Scented Streaming New Single

Today Dew-Scented has post the second single taken off new album "Icarus." Premiered by Rock Hard magazine Germany, click here to check out "Thrown To The Lions." Dew-Scented vocalist Leif Jensen comments:

“TTTL is among my personal fave-tracks on ‘Icarus’ and one that we all knew right away would become a good addition for our new live-set! This song is viciously straight-forward and comes with some pretty wicked guitar riffing. Lyrically the edge was to portray the truly barbaric bloodlust in ancient times at gladiator fights and the brutality of the so-called ‘damnatio ad bestias’. That’s some of the most extreme punishment in history, especially since it was turned into such a public celebration ritual! It’s definitely a gruesome topic that effortlessly supports the heaviness of the song…and the subliminal tortured screams on the second lead-guitar part are quite intense too!”

"Icarus" will be released as a limited first edition digipak including 3 bonus tracks as well as on vinyl (black and limited coloured versions) on July, 27th/30th via Metal Blade Records in Europe. The track listing is as follows: More...

Dew-Scented Confirmed For Summer Breeze

This year's Summer Breeze festival will be taking place from August 16th - 18th, with full details available at the festival's website here. The organizers of Summer Breeze have now issued the following announcement about confirming new bands:

"Since the release of their amazing breakthrough album 'Inwards', Dew-Scented have been at the forefront of European thrash metal. Since then, the cool bunch led by frontman Leif Jensen have been producing fantastic albums full of unstoppable riff power and overwhelming intensity at nicely regular intervals, cementing the band's excellent reputation time and again. In 2012, Dew-Scented aim at kick-starting their career with an entirely new line-up – with the exception of band boss Leif – and the fantastic new album 'Icarus', and are gearing up to shatter the Summer Breeze Open Air into small pieces. We are stoked to welcome the indestructible machine called Dew-Scented at our festival once more. Get thrashed!

"When Agrypnie played the Summer Breeze festival in 2008 for the first and only time so far, they were booked as consolation for all those who were mourning the recent disbanding of Nocte Obducta. Four years, one studio album and one EP later, the Hessians have made a career for themselves, having now reached the same level as the aforementioned group. Their new studio album is still being recorded as we speak, but their last EP 'Asche' was already an announcement for big things to come in the realm of post black metal. Expressive, multi-faceted, melancholic, dynamic – all these attributes fit Agrypnie like a glove and are underlined by the fact that their songs don't ever become predictable or interchangable. One of the most exciting bands our scene has to offer nowadays."

Dan Swanö To Guest On New Dew Scented Album

After previously announcing Sacrifice's Rob Urbinati as a guest vocalist to appear on the new album "Icarus," Dew Scented has now issued the following update about another guest appearance:

"Introducing third of three special guest-musician appearances on 'Icarus!' Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity / Bloodbath) – Guest vocals on 'Reawakening.' Dan has been a longterm buddy and true inspiration for Dew-Scented and it’s almost like a closing circle to have him involved with 'Icarus.'

"Dan and Leif first met him on the debut Edge Of Sanity tour with Assorted Heap in 1992 and then Dew-Scented toured with Edge Of Sanity in 1996, where funnily enough Marvin also already appeared as the band’s lead guitarist. Consequently, Dan went on to help Dew-Scented by mixing 1998’s 'Innoscent' album and Leif has ever since always wanted to do vocal or production work with Dan on some level again. Having Dan do his trademark deep grunts as duet vocals with Leif on the song 'Reawakening' is a big honour and personal satisfaction for us."

Dan Swanö comments: "After touring with them, mixing with them, it was about goddamned time that I also sang a nice tune with them. The interplay between mine and Leif’s vocals worked out perfectly. Like a duet between Satan and the Devil ;)" More...

Dew-Scented Announces Guest Musician For New Album

Dew-Scented has issued the following announcement about a guest musician on the band's upcoming "Icarus" album:

"We're introducing the first of three special guest-musician appearances on 'Icarus!' First one is Rob Urbinati (Sacrifice) – Guest vocals on 'Gleaming Like Silver.'

"Sacrifice is one of the best and most underrated Thrash Metal bands ever and a big influence on Leif for his vocal-work with Dew-Scented. From their debut masterpiece 'Torment In Fire' (1985) to their amazing comeback album 'The Ones I Condemn' (2009), these guys have always delivered trendless, classy Thrash Metal with amazing riffing and tasty songwriting.

"Dew-Scented had covered Sacrifice’s 'Apocalypse Inside' song on 1999’s Ill-Natured album and stayed in casual contact with Rob and Sacrifice ever since. It’s awesome to have Rob now do guest vocals for 'Gleaming Like Silver' in a duet with Leif!"

Rob Urbinati comments: "Sacrifice have been honoured by Dew-Scented in the past with a cover song, now I am honoured to be included on the track ‘Gleaming Like Silver.'"

The "Icarus" release dates are as follows:

July 27th, 2012 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland (via Metal Blade Records)
July 30th, 2012 in the rest of Europe (via Metal Blade Records)
July 31st, 2012 in North America (via Prosthetic Records) More...

Dew-Scented Posts New Song Online

Today Dew-Scented has posted the first single taken off new album "Icarus." Check out the landing page at this location and stream the album's first song "Sworn To Obey." The track is also available in the player below.

Dew-Scented vocalist Leif Jensen comments about Sworn To Obey as follows: “’Sworn To Obey’ was an obvious candidate to open up the new album and it was actually one of the very last tracks we finished in the songwriting sessions for ‘Icarus’. Already when working on the final arrangements for the song, we knew it would become an extremely heavy and catchy piece! Kicking in after the anthem-like ‘Hubris’ instrumental intro, ‘Sworn To Obey’ is a sweet punch in the gut in true Dew-Scented style and smoothly helps to set the album’s pace in the right fashion! I simply love the lead-guitar part and the crazy bass-lines afterwards. I’m sure this one will be real fun to play live…”

The album's track listing is as follows:

01. Hubris
02. Sworn to Obey
03. Thrown to the Lions

12. In Dying Mode (bonus track)
13. Steady Decline (PRONG-cover/bonus track)

Dew-Scented Announces New Guitarist

Dew-Scented, which recently posted a teaser trailer for the new album "Icarus," has announced the band's new line-up (re-)introduces Marvin Vriesde (Severe Torture, ex-Blo.Torch) as main guitarist and songwriter.

Not a stranger to Dew-Scented’s path of life, Vriesde’s ties with the band go as far as back as 1996, when he played lead guitars for Dew-Scented on the band’s first ever proper tour (With Edge Of Sanity, Lake Of tears and Sadist), as well as for some additional shows supporting Morbid Angel.

He later on returned, among other occasions, as live session guitarist for a European tour with Cannibal Corpse in 2002 and also for runs in Europe (With Nevermore and Mercenary), Japan (With High On Fire and Misery Signals) and North America (With Vader and Decapitated) all throughout 2005, as well as appearing with guitars-leads on the “Issue VI” album and also performing on the “Turn To Ash” video clip. Dew-Scented Reveals "Icarus" Artwork

German thrash metallers Dew-Scented have revealed the artwork for their new album "Icarus," to be released in July through Metal Blade Records in Europe. Once again Björn Goosses / Killustrations handled the artwork duties.

Singer Leif Jensen comments on the album title: "The album's main theme could be described a modern-times, very apocalyptic adaptation of elements of the 'Icarus' myth, using a lot of its symbolism while interlinking with several other personal or observant subjects, in true Dew-Scented fashion. Without being close to a 'concept album', 'Icarus' has a pretty coherent lyrical flow and that helps to enhance and also to intentionally enlarge the atmosphere and vibe created by the music."

Check out the first sneak peak video teaser from the studio at this location. "Icarus" was recorded at Soundlodge Studio with Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Suicidal Angels, Nightfall, etc.) as producer and will be released by late July 2012 via Metal Blade Records in Europe and Prosthetic Records in North America. Dew-Scented Finishes New Album

German thrash metallers Dew-Scented have just finished recording their new album. They once again recorded at Soundlodge Studio in the deepest heart of Northern Germany with Jörg Uken (God Dethroned, Suicidal Angels, Nightfall, etc.) as producer.

"We have worked with Jörg already on 'Incinerate' for the recordings and then on the previous album 'Invocation' for recordings and mix. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to team up with him again and the time we worked on the new music together in his halls pretty much went flying by! The best part however is: The final mix turned out really, really HEAVY, so much we can tell you already!" comments singer Leif Jensen.

Dew Scented Writing New Songs

Dew Scented has issued the following update about writing material for an upcoming album:

"Greetings Thrashers! As you will have already noticed by now, things are rather quiet for Dew-Scented in the public eye. However, things are actually turbulent and challenging behind closed doors, so we wanted to give you a brief update with what's going on…

"New studio album: Earlier this year we had decided to stop playing shows (apart from a handful of pre-scheduled summer festivals) until at least spring 2012 in order to re-group and to prepare a next studio album recording session. In fact, that's what is mainly keeping us busy right now. We are making good progress and are already up to song idea number 8. Some truly killer stuff coming up and quite some surprises along the way too. If all stays according to our masterplan, we would have a new release available by mid of next year! More...

Dew Scented Splits With Bassist

After almost 10 years of loyal service to Dew-Scented, bassist Alexander Pahl has decided to leave the band. The band commented on his departure:

"Rumours about his reasoning are on an absolute high, so we are happy to offer you a chance to win free D-S merchandise if you nail the correct answer from the following bunch:

a) He ran out of coffee

b) He will dedicate to family life and low profile grind projects

c) He chose to wait for a chance to join Kreator, Sodom, Destruction or other even more successful acts

d) He lost his trademark Poison Idea stage-shirt and can no longer perform live without it

e) Personal differences between the bandmembers

f) He might start a new band with ex D-S members Flo, Hendrik and Uwe soon.

"The first three correct submissions will receive a free band shirt as well as a special poster signed by Alex with a personal dedication! Write us to: contact [at] dew-scented [dot] com. Dew-Scented would like to thank Alex for the good times and wish him all the best for his future projects and activities!"

After last month's Party.San and Brutal Assault festivals, Dew-Scented will now retire from the public eye until early next year in order to focus on composing a next studio album, tentatively to be released before the summer 2012. Next year also marks the 20th anniversary for Dew-Scented.
