Vomitory To Disband At End Of 2013

Swedish death metal veterans Vomitory have decided to call it quits. Formed in 1989 by original guitarist Urban Gustafsson and bass player Ronnie "Ripper" Olson (who departed in 1996), the band released eight studio releases, including the last, 2011's "Opus Mortis VIII" for Metal Blade Records.

The band commented: "After 24 years, eight albums and hundreds of live shows across 30 countries, we have finally come to the end of the road. We in the band - Tobias, Urban, Erik and Peter - have made the collective decision to end Vomitory by the end of 2013. It has been a blast on all accounts, but all good things come to to an end, and for Vomitory it is now. We will still play as many shows as possible during 2013, and we hope to see as many of you fans as possible there, so we can thank you for your true support during all these years!" More...

Solace Of Requiem Comments On Upcoming Shows

Solace of Requiem has checked in with the following update about canceling upcoming shows and announcing new tour dates with Vomitory:

"Change Of Plans! Many SOR fans have been waiting patiently for the SOR In EU Tour schedule (parts 1 & 2) to be released. Well, we've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that the 'Part 2' portion of the tour scheduled with Mor Dagor will have to be cancelled.

"It always sucks to have to cancel shows when so many people have worked hard to arrange them. But SOR had a late opportunity to get on a bigger billing and that opportunity was just too good to pass-up. Which brings us to the good news...

"Solace of Requiem will instead be touring Europe (from October 28th until approximately November 20th) with Vomitory and Prostitute Disfigurement. At this time the show schedule has not been released, nor has the artwork/promotion. But as soon as it is, we will have it posted here for all to see. The 'Part 1' portion of the tour scheduled with Disbelief and Xiom has NOT yet been canceled. If possible, SOR will play Part 1 of the original tour as well as the tour with Vomitory and Prostitute Disfigurement.

"Sorry to all of the promoters, clubs, bands and fans that might be disappointed in SOR's cancelling. Especially Michael Morgenstern with MorningStar Booking and Events, and everyone from Mor Dagor. 'I Guess We Owe You Some Beers?!' A very big Thank You to Michael, Mike and everyone else at BCP Agency for putting SOR on the Vomitory & P.D. tour. We will post more info about this tour in the coming weeks, as well as remove the artwork/promotion for 'SOR In EU Tour Part 2' and replace it with the new tour's artwork/promotion. Check back then.."

Vomitory Streaming Another Song From New Album

Swedish death metal act Vomitory has posted another new song online from the band's new album "Opus Mortis VIII." You can check out the song "Shrouded In Darkness" by heading over to the metalnews.de site here. The band also recently posted another song online titled "Regorge in the Morgue."

Comments Vomitory drummer Tobias Gustafsson: "Opus Mortis VIII is our eighth album (no shit!) - our eighth Opus of Death. And I dare to say that this is one of the strongest albums we've done, and it most certainly has the most powerful production we've ever had on any album, hands down. For the third time, we worked with Rikard Löfgren in his Leon Music Studios. We raised the bar quite a few notches in the studio - both production-wise and performance-wise, and we couldn't be happier with the result. We are not breaking new death metal ground with this album - that was never Vomitorys' mission - but Opus Mortis VIII offers diversity and dynamics that you haven't quite heard from Vomitory before. Still, this is a very intense and aggressive album in the true Vomitory tradition - all the essential signature details are there. Once you hear the opening track, 'Regorge In The Morgue,' you will need no further proof of that!"

"Opus Mortis VIII" will be released the 26th of April, 2011 via Metal Blade Records, and the track listing is as follows:

1. Regorge In The Morgue
2. Bloodstained
3. They Will Burn
4. The Dead Awaken
5. Hate In A Time Of War
6. Torturous Ingenious
7. Forever Damned
8. Shrouded In Darkness

"On Sunday, December 19th, we completed the work on the eighth Vomitory album that we have entitled 'Opus Mortis VIII'! It's our eighth musical work of death, so we think it's a very fitting title and we have some nice things going on artwork-wise for this one.

"Producer and studio owner Rikard Löfgren has done a tremendous job to get the best sounding Vomitory album to date — no competition! We are so fucking happy with the result. The production is absolutely top-notch and the material offers diversity and dynamics that you haven't quite heard from Vomitory before. You will get 14 songs altogether and roughly 54 minutes playing time."

Vomitory Posts Napalm Death Cover Song Online

Swedish death metal act Vomitory has posted a new cover song to the band's official Myspace page. The band covered the 1991 Napalm Death track "Mass Appeal Madnes," which appeared on an EP of the same name.

Vomitory commented on the cover track by saying:

"Since spring 2005 we have had this little piece of brutality laying in our digital drawer, and we admit it's a shame it hasn't seen the light of day until now! This version of 'Mass Appeal Madness' was recorded for a Napalm Death tribute album that never saw the light of day. With this song we want to give you fans something exclusive but also salute one of the most influential bands for Vomitory — ever since 1989 to present day."
