James Murphy Updates On Within The Mind Project
Former TESTAMENT/DEATH guitarist James Murphy has issued the following update regarding his upcoming DEATH tribute project, "Within The Mind - In Homage To The Musical Legacy Of Chuck Schuldiner" (web site), tentatively due in June through Holland's Mascot Records:
"This past Saturday [Feb. 21] I traveled to Orlando to Richard Christy's [ICED EARTH, ex-DEATH, CONTROL DENIED] warehouse where he and I practiced the songs which he will be playing on for the 'Within The Mind' project. on the first passes through the songs we nailed them... it sounded more like we had been playing together for months rather than minutes. Richard is a very disciplined and talented musician and clearly those traits, along with his love for the music of DEATH and Chuck Schuldiner, have pushed him to put a good amount of his free time into practicing for the upcoming session. Suffocation 'Souls To Deny' Details, Tour Dates
Death metal legends SUFFOCATION have begun recording their new full-length album, entitled "Souls to Deny". The band is recording at New York's Full Force Studios with engineer Joe Cincotta. Their first full length album of new material since 1995's "Pierced From Within", "Souls to Deny" also marks the band's first full-length album for Relapse Records. Advance song titles from "Souls to Deny" include "Souls to Deny", "Deceit", "Subconsciously Enslaved", "Surgery of Impalement", "Tomes of Atrimony", "Immortally Condemned", "Demise of the Clone" and "To Weep Once More".
'Souls to Deny' is set for a US release of April 27th and the band will launch the record with a massive US Tour with MORBID ANGEL, PREMONITIONS OF WAR, and SATYRICON.

Suffocation Commence Work On New Album
SUFFOCATION have begun recording their new full-length album, "Souls To Deny", at New York's Full Force Studios with engineer Joe Cincotta.
Vocalist Frank Mullen comments: "Souls To Deny" is one of our most brutal albums by far. I'm confident this album will not disappoint any of our fans new or old".
Drummer Mike Smith adds: "This is the cleanest, heaviest SUFFOCATION album to date...those who doubted our intentions are soon dead. On all assumptions."
"Souls To Deny" is due out before summer through Relapse.

Morbid Angel, Suffocation, Satyricon To Tour US
World Management has announced that MORBID ANGEL's "American Heretic tour" will start on April 14th, 2004, the first headlining tour in support of their new album, "Heretic". Headlining will be MORBID ANGEL, with SUFFOCATION as direct support with SATYRICON and PREMONITIONS OF WAR to follow. A full list of dates and 25 major US cities will be released in early 2004.
Suffocation To Support Morbid Angel In The U.S.
Reunited New York death metallers Suffocation have been confirmed as direct support slot on Morbid Angel's upcoming U.S. tour, scheduled for mid-March through April. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.
As previously reported, Suffocation have set "Souls To Deny" as the title for their first full-length release since 1995's "Pierced From Within", tentatively due in the spring through Relapse Records. The songwriting process for the follow-up to the 1998 "Despise The Sun" EP has reached the midway point and plans exist for the band to self-produce the CD during January.
Suffocation's current lineup consists of founding members Frank Mullen (vocals), Terrance Hobbs (guitar), Mike Smith (drums) and Josh Barohn (bass), plus longtime friend Guy Marchais (guitar, formerly of Pyrexia and Internal Bleeding).
