Relapse Records recording artists Suffocation have returned home from a successful South American tour in support of their latest release, Souls To Deny.
The South American headlining tour kicked off on September 3rd in Colombia and came to a conclusion on September 10th in Ecuador. On their September 6th date in Santiago, Chile, the band performed alongside peers and death metal legends Morbid Angel. Photos taken during this tour are available at this location.
Suffocation guitarist Guy Marchais raved about his South American trip: "South America blew me away! I had no idea it was so cool there. The fans were the craziest I have ever seen, the pits were huge! They swarmed us everywhere we went."
Drummer Mike Smith continues, "The South American shows were packed and insane, they are very loyal to their scene there. We would like to thank all of the individuals involved in making the tour happen."
Belgium’s Aborted are preparing for their first full North American invasion. Their new album, The Archaic Abattoir, “an epic in its own right” won the band considerable praise. Founder and vocalist Sven De Caluwe commented on the upcoming tour and line-up changes: “Things are really starting to move fast for us, and we're fully preparing ourselves for the upcoming U.S. tour with Cryptopsy, Suffocation and Despised Icon. Needless to say, we're all extremely psyched about this tour and can't wait to spread our own little brand of death-fucking-metal to all our fans. To the people who have been waiting to see us over there; the wait is over, and we'll make sure none of you will have any regrets. Some news on the band, we're also very happy with the way the new line-up is working out. Guitarist Stephane Souteyrand has been in the band since June and has been more than great. He's not only a great musician but also a very cool guy to work with, and we can't wait to start writing the next album with him by our side. See you guys in a month!”
The video for “Dead Wreckoning” will premier on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball Saturday night September 3rd. Produced by Darren Doane (Shadows Fall, Nile) and filmed in Downtown L.A. “in the basement of an old meat factory, De Caluwe said, “Scary fact is that there was blood everywhere, fresh blood, which neither Darren nor the band put there. Weird part is the factory has been out of business for quite some time…”

Canadian death metallers CRYPTOPSY have posted the following message on their official website:
"Once Was Not", CRYPTOPSY's fifth studio album, was completed last week. Sébastien Marsan, at his Studio Vortex in St-Constant (Quebec, Canada), did a wondrous job of mixing and engineering. The album was mastered by UE Nastasi at Sterling Sound in New York City and features artwork by François Quévillon, Filip Ivanovic and Martin Lacroix. With eleven tracks totaling about 50 minutes, this is a concept album where every song has its own identity. We made sure to have a lot of flavors and different rhythms and tempos throughout the whole process, the variations in the tracks may surprise some of you. An exclusive Cryptopsy studio report will be featured in BW&BK #91 in August. Expect "Once Was Not" to be released in October by
Century Media Records.
In the meantime, CRYPTOPSY are still a 4-piece looking for a fifth piece: In this case, a second guitarist for our bouts of extensive touring.
Guitarists : send your bios to the e-mail address displayed on the web site's news page and send your CDs and DVDs (for the obvious reason that we like freebies) at this address:

Other than that, we'll see you at the New Jersey Hellfest, and then later this fall on tour with SUFFOCATION, ABORTED and DESPISED ICON in the United States and Canada."
