Venom Inc. Brings Black Metal To Bristol

As is the case with oh so many metal bands these days, there now exists two incarnations of Venom. There's Venom, led by frontman Chronos and now there's Venom Inc., featuring the other two famous members of the influential trio, Mantas and Abaddon (guitar and drums respectively,) as well as vocalist/bassist Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan, who replaced Chronos in Venom for a period of time in the eighties and nineties. The latter group released their superb debut album, "Ave," last year through Nuclear Blast Records and last week began a headlining run of Europe in support of the record, as part of a stellar lineup which also included death metal legends Suffocation and Brazilian thrash metal favourites, Nervosa.

Former Suffocation guitarist Guy Marchais has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer in the blood which attacks the immune system in the body and lymph nodes. A fundraiser has been set up for him, on which a statement reads:

"On January 19th, 2018, we found out that Guy Marchais was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a blood cancer effecting the body’s immmune system and lymph nodes. This comes just 80 days after his niece was diagnosed with the same exact thing. Although not genetic, lighting struck twice in our family. I’m calling to everyone to donate what you can. Even with health insurance, bills are piling up in the thousands. There are many more tests to be done before starting his treatment plan on February 5th, which includes chemo and possibly radiation. Our family is struggling and could really use your help."
