Germany's Primal Fear has issued the following tour diary from their South American tour:
"At the beginning of August, Primal Fear and Special Guest Sinner traveled to South America to play four shows in four countries in five days. This meant: Maximum Rock’n’Roll, amazing fans and almost zero sleep. Prepare for take off!
"Two bands, three techs, that’s a lot of people. And it has been a while that we started from Stuttgart with six guys. Among us is our latest addition, drum tech Tommy, who fits very well into the Primal Fear camp. We’re also especially happy that our long time friend Duce is making his comeback as guitar tech, now that he is usually travelling with Children Of Bodom all the time. For a massive trip like this it’s good to know you have good people with you. This of course includes our master of sound, Achim Köhler (a.k.a. ‘the guy called Coca Kohler’), and the legendary Klaus Sperling on drums with Sinner. After the easiest check-in ever we’re flying to Frankfurt and then without much further ado to Mexico City - on a 12hr flight! But: Kohler has entered the Business Class! More...

"We're ecstatic to be playing with Primal Fear in Los Angeles, there's no doubt about that! Personally, I'm beside myself given I truly love Primal Fear. They've been my favorite band for the last five years and they have really opened by eyes and ears in terms of playing great melodic German power metal. I've been a fan of Ralf since his days with Gamma Ray, and now to be sharing the stage with him and Primal Fear...it's incredible! It's going to be one hell of an evening filled with fantastic heavy metal. Our fans can't wait!"

Commented PRIMAL FEAR frontman Ralf Scheepers: "It's very unusual for one band member to see and listen how the other band member is delivering the goods on his instrument. When we perform together live, you can also judge what's going on each instrument but not as clear and obvious as in the studio where you can concentrate on each tone or note or beat from your mates. From what I have heard so far, I can really say it's the best performance I have ever heard from Randy [Black] on the drums and also from Henny [Wolter] on the guitar. Of course, some people might think, 'What else should he say, he has to promote the new album and that’s what every musician would say just to keep the ball running.' But these words are my true impression and I really can't wait for Magnus [Karlsson, guitar] and Mat [Sinner, bass] to nail their parts to see the whole building growing and growing."
PRIMAL FEAR earlier in the year parted ways with guitarist Stefan Leibing and replaced him with Magnus Karlsson (ALLEN/LANDE, STARBREAKER).
The band's latest album, "New Religion," last year landed on the Swedish chart at No. 67. It also entered the German chart at No. 60. The CD was released in the U.S. on January 29 via Locomotive/Ryko. Guest musicians on the album include Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY, ex-HELLOWEEN) and Simone Simons (EPICA).
Primal Fear vocalist Ralf Scheepers has posted the following update online:
"Just a brief impression from my point of view to what's happening in the studio these days.
"It's very unusual for one band member to see and listen how the other band member is delivering the goods on his instrument. When we perform together live, you can also judge what's going on each instrument but not as clear and obvious as in the studio where you can concentrate on each tone or note or beat from your mates.

German metallers PRIMAL FEAR have issued the following update:
"Well, we're finally back home from the 10 Years Of Metal Tour, exhausted and very satisfied. After two days of practising with the new line up, we played nine shows in a row! The tour was a wonderful experience and a worthy operation. Let's listen to the words of drummer Randy Black: the best tour, the best line-up and the best fans so far – nothing more to say!"
Randy Black: "Magnus Karlsson proved, that he's not only one of the best rock guitarists, he is a top team-player and a great entertainer. Henny and Magnus are the most exciting guitar team, we could present in the ten years of Primal Fear and it was a lot of fun for everybody. We're still overwhelmed by every crowd's fantastic response! Of course there were special highlights like Berlin was an unexpected cool start with a great crowd! Stefan and Klaus joined us on stage in Reichenbach! We met a lot of long time Metal Commando friends from Japan, France, Slovenia, Netherlands, UK and of course Germany, Bodo and the Bikeschmiede team! Bruchsal was a like sauna and the fans in Bochum rocked like hell. After years, we came back to the mighty Z7 in Pratteln and played a wonderful show together with our friends of JON OLIVA. The Biepop in Belgium was sold out, with an unbelievable crazy audience, that reminded us we're playing in Brazil! In most of the venues, we've played four encores and close to 120 minutes. Thanks to all our fans, friends and supporters for showing up and celebrating with us! On Saturday, we will start our festival season in the Czech Republic and so far we have a great bunch of 14 more shows lined up in wonderful places and festivals. See you there!"

It looks like we’re planning to get back into the recording studio after the summer festival season to work on a new album!"
Primal Fear singer Ralf Scheepers comments: "After working together with Magnus on several songs for our previous albums „Seven Seals“ and “New Religion”, it’s more than a pleasure to have him in the band now. In my ears he is one of the most talented guitarists on this planet and he is also an excellent composer. I absolutely look forward to rock the stages of this world with him!"

Guitarist Stefan Leibing has announced his departure from German power metallers PRIMAL FEAR. His statement reads as follows:
"Dear PRIMAL FEAR fans, after 10 years being in PRIMAL FEAR I have decided to take a time out from the music business for some time. I do this for my family, especially for my two little sons, who deserve to have more time together with their father. Of course, this is no easy decision, even if I know this is the right one. I leave the guys from PRIMAL FEAR in friendship and want to thank them at this point for their understanding and supporting me in this decision. I also want to thank you fans for a wonderful time during the last years! I say good-bye to you, having in mind, that this will NOT be a goodbye forever!"
The remaining members of PRIMAL FEAR add: "Well, it's hard to see the curtain fall for a friend and a great player after ten years standing side by side. We have all respect for Stefan's decision. We were realizing the problems he went through the entire last year. He will be missed as a character and a great guitar player. There's an open door for Stefan in PRIMAL FEAR and we're working on the possibility that Stefan will contribute a typical Stefan-style song to our forthcoming album! Good luck, Stefan, to you and your family! We will announce our new guitar player tomorrow!"
