It's been six years since Woe Of Tyrants released the "Threnody" album, and now new material is finally in the works. The band commetns:
"Fall is here and the grind begins! Ever since Woe of Tyrants was born, our members have written in the fall. Most musicians I know personally love the fall and winter months for writing music. I guess cold weather and winter depression spreads creativity throughout the world! 'Threnody' was written against a deadline, all between September-October of 2009. 'Kingdom of Might' was written throughout the fall of 2008 and the first songs written for that album ('Seven Braids of Samson' and 'Break the Fangs of the Wicked') were both written the fall before, in 2007.
"I hope ya'll get where we are going with this *wink wink* Progress has been made in the few short months that we have decided to start writing new material, we have been tossing around ideas and being patient with what is being developed. We are battling impatience but the time put into the material really helps perfect everything. We have a vision here, but we can't settle for anything less than our best and the excitement has steadily been growing since we started. The bubble burst this past week and things are naturally falling into place just like the good old days. ;) More...
Metal Blade Records has issued the following announcement about Woe of Tyrants and Skeletonwitch headlining the All Hallows Eve festival:
"Skeletonwitch and Woe Of Tyrants to headline 2010 All Hallows Eve Festival October 23rd. This year’s All Hallows Eve Festival is an exciting one. Seeing the return of local band turned national act, Woe Of Tyrants, returning home, as well as first time visits from Skeletonwitch and Great Awakening. It will also boast appearances from talented local acts Shall Be The Conqueror and Age Of Distrust. In years passed, the All Hallows Eve Festival has been the home of many bands, both national and local, and has been located in the historical Majestic Theater.
"This year sees a few changes in the normal mode of operation with a change in venue and a shorter, but stronger line up of bands. Entering into its fourth year, the festival has decided to make the change to The Backstage, located at 44 S. Paint St. in Chillicothe, Ohio to better accommodate the bands, the sound and the participants. The show will take place on October 23rd. It will be an 18+ show, with the doors opening at 7:30 and music beginning at 8:30. The cover will be $10 for all persons over 21, and $12 for 18-20."
Woe Of Tyrants has checked in with the following tour recap and announcement about canceling the remaining shows of the band's current tour:
"Hey everyone out there in comprutah land, last night we wrapped up the Driven to Conquer tour with Jungle Rot and Lightning Swords of Death. As with most tours there were definite ups and some tough downs but the overall feeling for everyone at the end was that it was a great experience with some incredible bands. Unfortunately, a couple of key shows fell through, and there were also some unexpected expenses (van repairs) that we had no way of predicting. This has led all of the bands to decide that it would be best to forego the last 3 shows of the tour and head home.
"We also had headlining shows booked to get us from the west coast back to Ohio, which we of course now cannot be a part of. We despise canceling these dates, and deeply apologize to those affected by the decision but it was ultimately out of our hands. We feel honored to have been a part of such a great package and look forward to making our way back out in the future.
"In the mean time, we're heading home for some much needed 'catch up on the bills' time and we figured that since we're finally going to be not touring for a little while then we can continue working on material for our next record. We'll be playing some regional shows in October with D.R.I, Early Man and Evile. Much love!" More...

Woe of Tyrants has issued the following comments about their recent tour dates with Entombed:
"Greetings WoT faithful, well after some amazing dates with our new friends in Entombed and Jungle Rot we're at home getting ready for the next run, which will feature Within the Ruins, The World We Knew, and Structures. While it was only a small batch of dates we can't complain, because getting to watch Entombed and Jungle Rot (who were so heavy that they knocked the power out in Detroit during their set) every night was nothing short of a privilege.
"Let's see... Ah yes, the highlights included: playing 'drop the empty plastic beer bottle into trash cans/truck beds from a 6 story rooftop in Milwaukee,' our new favorite venue and best show we've ever been a part of in Chicago at Reggie's, and of course trying to find dudes from the wanted posters in Wisconsin. Big thanks to everyone involved for their professionalism, and when appropriate, lack thereof! Check our all our pages for the full dates with WTR and also for our next full U.S. run with Jungle Rot! And now, some visual stimulation."

British thrashers EVILE are getting well acquainted with the American touring circuit, having just finished a North American tour with German legends KREATOR and now making their way around once again with New Jersey's OVERKILL.
EVILE are currently in the midst of the Killfest tour, which also features VADER, GOD DETHRONED, WARBRINGER and WOE OF TYRANTS.
EVILE lead guitarist OL DRAKE reports from the tour:
"Currently sat in bed in a Japanese hotel in San Francisco. This place is awesome! Love San Francisco. We played the Regent Ballroom last night and had a brilliant time. We felt very welcomed, and in such an amazing venue. Me and Ben walked around San Fran at about 3am looking for food - we even tried to be a car to go through the Burger King drive-thru. Day off today
as the Vegas show was cancelled (boo!) and to be honest I need it. I ate some American fish n' chips, and that didn't go down well. As I've said before, leave fish n' chips to England!"
"Got a lot of ideas for album 3 - we basically have the title and album art concept decided too. Got a very good feeling about the new material!" More...

Vocalist Chris Catanzaro discusses the themes of Threnody: "Well 2009 proved to be a monstrous one for Woe of Tyrants. It was a year of accomplishing goals such as releasing our debut Metal Blade album, touring with bands we've grown up listening to, and meeting thousands of awesome people all over the country. As we embark into 2010, our goals have shifted up a few gears. We have a brand baby spankin' new record that we finished recording at the end of 2009 with Jamie King producing, and to embrace the cliché 'this is the most epic brutal stuff we've ever done and we're stoked on it!' New Jersey thrash metal veterans Overkill will embark on their 25th anniversary North American tour, dubbed Killfest 2010, in April and May 2010. The trek will span the length of the U.S., hitting spots in Canada, with one final show at New York City's Nokia Theater. Support on the tour will come from Vader, God Dethroned, Warbringer, Evile, and Woe of Tyrants.
Commented vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth: "The road never ends, and that's a good thing kids! We've all been tearing this up for over 25 years now and still going strong. April it starts again and this time it's 'Ironbound', live and in your face, let the games begin!!"

British thrashers, EVILE have recently announced that they will be embarking on their first major North American tours with such legendary acts as KREATOR and OVERKILL. EVILE frontman/guitarist, Matt Drake recently took some time to proclaim his (and the band's) excitement to hit the road across the pond in March through early-May:
"Well it's about time it happened, we can finally say that we are coming to the USA!! It's been a long time coming because we've tried before, we've had a few plans made in the past to get to the states but they always fell through but it's finally confirmed and happening. We couldn't be happier that we get to lay waste to peoples senses on a nightly basis with such legendary bands that we have nothing but respect for, we're looking forward to meeting people who have listened to our cd's but never had the chance to see us live and we're also looking forward to introducing ourselves to a lot of new people and instead of easing ourselves into it by doing a week or so we're going for a full on two month straight tour with only a few days off, the way it should be!! I'm personally looking forward to being able to visit such iconic places as New York, Las Vegas, San Francisco as these are the kind of places i never thought i would be lucky enough to see. Ladies and gentlemen the British are coming!!!!" More...
Woe of Tyrants has issued the following update from the studio:
"Whoa, Shaun here, hanging at The Basement Studios in NC where the new Woe of Tyrants record is underway. Progress is ample, with the bulk of rhythm tracks completed (including drums, guitar, and bass) while vocals and leads are being finished. The presence, skill and tireless effort of Jamie King has contributed much to the process, and we're all excited to get the CD shrink wrapped and out to all of you. Luckily, the weather has been reasonably kind and so has the van, so no disasters have befallen us thus far (unless you count late night TV programming at our hotel).
"While the typical horse-off-ery and fast food adventures have endured, hotel maid-wooing has (much to our disdain) taken a backseat to crunch time dedication and much deserved shut-eye during these later stages. Recording festivities are due to carry on through Friday, and then we should be homeward bound - keep an eye out for the studio wrap-up at the end of the week!"
Woe of Tyrants has issued the following report from the recording studio:
"Hi all, Chris here checking in from The Basement studios in Winston-Salem, NC, where we've begun work on our new album, with Jamie King at the helm. Our first 5 days in the studio have been good, most of it spent mixing the drums. All of our free time has been filled with Final Fantasy 7, watching football, flirting with the maids that clean the rooms at the hotel, and lots and lots of Chipotle (check out Dozer's MONSTER burrito in the pics below, it's epic) Things are sounding ruthless so far, can't wait to get the final product in our hands and out to you guys! Enjoy some photos, and we should have another update for you next week! That's all folks, stay tuned for more! Spread the word - new record in the Spring, to go with our tour with OVERKILL!!"
New Jersey based thrash metal legends Overkill has announced that they will be heading out on the roads of North America at the beginning of April next year. This tour is in support of the bands forthcoming new studio album, "Ironbound" which will be released in January through Nuclear Blast Records.

The band is currently preparing to write and record their third full length album and follow up to their Metal Blade debut, "Kingdom Of Might." Vocalist Chris Catanzaro adds: "God Dethroned's last date on the War Propaganda Tour was last night, hate to see them go! Amazingly kind and generous people, and many thanks goes to the band and their crew for making things run so smoothly for everyone. A few dates left with Abigail Williams/Augury and then we're holing ourselves up in our rehearsal space to finish writing our new record, expect it to hit this spring!"
While on tour, Woe of Tyrants sat down for a chat with Ryan’s Rock show. A video clip of the interview can be viewed below. More...

We feel Jake and the crew captured the mood and excitement that we'd envisioned for this song and we're excited to premier it with our friends at MetalSucks for all of you to enjoy as well. Big thanks as always to our friends at Siege Media for tireless efforts and quick turnarounds and also the warehouse in Detroit, MI where the video was shot!"

Also confirmed so far for this year's Loud Park also are Poison The Well, Napalm Death, Arch Enemy, Megadeth, Rob Zombie, Slayer and the legendary Judas Priest.
