Weedeater Comments On Headlining Tour

Weedeater recently announced an upcoming headlining tour in September/October. The band has now commented on the run of shows:

"We are stoked to announce that we will be hitting the road again this September and October. Dates/poster are below and tickets will go on sale Thursday. The fine folks at Brooklyn Vegan are sponsoring this tour and theother bands joining us on this run all kick ass. For the trip as a whole we will be supported by Saviours, Bison BC and Fight Amp. And though Saviours will not be there for the Philly or Brooklyn shows, Oxbow will join the bill at Europa and we're very excited about that.

"If you haven't seen the new *Mancoon...Turkey Warlock* video yet, check it and other cool stuff out on our new website here, which was just launched today. More updates coming shortly; a few more tour dates will likely be added. In any case, see you all very soon. Oh yeah, and if you want to follow us on Twitter @weedmetal, we'll tweet at you, too."

Weedeater Finishes Filming New Video

Weedeater has issued the following update about filming a new music video:

"Hey all, although we can't let you see it quite yet, the Mancoon / Turkey Warlock video is finally complete! Big thanks to Scion for funding it, big thanks to David Brodsky and My Good Eye for coming down to the swamp to film it, and big thanks for all of you who showed up at Reggie's (including the owners/employees, who also rule) to participate in the action.

"After viewing, those of you from the old school might recognize that some portions of the filming took place out in the swamps of Hampstead at the old Weedeater house (thanks, Jimmy!). Aside from the water moccasins, the alligators and the giant Hampstead mosquitoes, we couldn't have asked for a more suitable location. The video will be released July 13th, so stay tuned for more info.

"There will be other news soon too, including a tour of the US and Canada in September and October and a new website coming this summer. More on all of that soon folks. And please don't forget to stop by our Shirtkiller store to check out the brand new shirt and hat designs by Guerilla ('Moon Ape' and 'Crest' being the newbies), plus if you're lucky you can still pick up one of the very last green vinyl *Jason* LPs anywhere. Just go here OK, that's it for now. Thanks as always for your support!"

Weedeater Checks In With Tour Recap

Weedeater has checked in with the following recap of recent tour dates and update about upcoming festival appearances:

"Hey all, just a quick update from the Weedeater camp. We're in Newark NJ right now, about to board a plane and jump the pond to see all our friends in Europe again tomorrow. Stoked to play Roadburn, Asymmetry Fest and all the other killer shows that we have lined-up, w/our bros in Zoroaster providing the crushing support they always do. We'd also like to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out for the US shows over the last few months.

"It was our best tour ever and we enjoyed every minute of it, up until Shep broke his hand that is. Sorry to end it on that note, but the few canceled shows in the Southeast will be rescheduled soon, so you presumably disappointed people will get yours shortly. Another thanks to ASG, Kvelertak and Zoroaster for being awesome support bands and great guys in general. And yet another big THANK YOU to all for your support during this album release. This was the first time Weedeater has ever charted on Billboard's Heatseekers (debuting at #45, in fact) or anywhere else for that matter, and that's kinda cool. OK, that's it for now. See you soon."

SXSW Music 2011 Day 3: Part 2

The fantastic “South by South Death” earlier in the day would be a tough act to follow, but perhaps the best night show was set for the night of March 18th: The Metalliance Tour.

Following up the best day show yet, was the biggest official SXSW metal show: The Metalliance SXSW stop. The Metalliance tour featured an excellent lineup including The Atlas Moth, Howl, Red Fang, Weedeater, Kylesa, Crowbar, Helmet and Saint Vitus. The show was the first I’d attended at the Dirty Dog. It was a decent sized place, but not exactly laid out well for the crowd that would fill it that night.

I arrived while The Atlas Moth was playing. They had just a couple songs left in their set. The first thing I noticed is that the bass sounded very loud. It gave a groovier feel to their music and most of the bands who played that night for that matter. Their last two songs sounded pretty decent, even if bass-heavy.

Howl was up next and played a short set of their groovy style of doom. Still getting drinks and settled in, their set flew by with little sticking out to me, however. More...

Weedeater Cancels Upcoming Tour Dates

The band made it through a month and a half of heavy duty touring, but finally somebody in Weedeater was injured and the band has been forced to cancel the last few shows of the "Jason The Dragon" tour.

Guitarist Shep broke his hand and can no longer wield his mighty axe of six strings for the remaining four shows including Orlando (tonight), Atlanta, Spartanburg and Savannah; tour mates Zoroaster will still play the Orlando and Atlanta shows. But, as with every previous injury this band has sustained — while on or off of tour – Shep will heal his mangled bones and the band will get back out there to hit you all with a dose of their inhumanly heavy live show once again in the near future.

Weedeater's upcoming European tour and appearance at Roadburn 2011 are still scheduled tot take place. Confirmed dates are available at this location.

Weedeater has checked in with the following update about the band's upcoming activity:

"It's been a while since we've chimed in, we know. But regarding Weedeater, silence is sometimes a good thing, this being one of those times. First off, and as many of you might already know, we are very happy to announce that Jason...The Dragon is fully completed and in production now to be released March 15th via Southern Lord on CD, and sometime in April on vinyl. Weedeater Announces "3rd Time's A Charm" Tour

Weedeater has announced several new headlining shows throughout the Midwest and Southeastern U.S. this September. Kicking things off in their home state, the band will devastate the crowd at Raleigh, North Carolina's Hopscotch Festival on September 11th, also with Public Enemy, Tortoise, Kylesa, U.S. Christmas, Harvey Milk and more. Weedeater will be dropping plenty of new material from the upcoming album on these shows, which will lead directly up to the recording of "Jason...the Dragon" with Steve Albini.

Weedaeter has been pushed to the band's limits over the past twelve months. While it's been a year of heavy and successful touring for the band, it was also a year of catastrophic physical injury. Leading off with Dixie Dave Collins' shotgun accident which spawned the brutal "Nine Toe Tour" earlier this year, and continuing shortly after that with drummer Keko tearing his meniscus after returning from said tour and requiring surgery. Both of those accidents prevented the group's two previously scheduled meetings with Albini. The group's latest installment of injury includes guitarist Shep breaking his pinkie finger while on tour in Europe this July alongside Black Cobra and Saviours. Luckily, Shep can still riff with his cast so the European tour and the recording session were spared. More...

Weedeater Checks In With Band Update

Weedeater has issued the following update about the band's upcoming tour schedule and recording new material:

"Hey there, OK here's the latest. Keko's knee surgery was a success and he is back to a swift gallop; Dixie has hardly any buckshot left in his foot and with extensive rehabilitation has regained his signature stomp. Thanks again for all your warm wishes and support during both of those ordeals. The European tour starts tomorrow with our friends in Black Cobra and Saviours for a month of what is sure to be pure Euro-insanity. Hellfest with Kiss, Slayer, Godflesh, and Rwake? Plus all the other amazing bands? Holy Shit!

"After returning home there will be a few select performances in the US at Amelia Festival in VA on July 17th, as well as at Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh NC on September 11th with Public Enemy, Tortoise, Kylesa and Harvey Milk. Following those shows will be the studio sessions with Steve Albini at Electrical Audio that have now been rescheduled for September. There will also be some more shows surrounding the studio time that will be announced soon. Stay tuned for updates and thanks as always."
