ASG and Weedeater have announced a four-week tour across the United States, kicking off on June 27th in Savannah, GA at The Jinx.
The tour comes as ASG celebrate its highest charting and most critically acclaimed album to date, the breakthrough release "Blood Drive." The twelve-song collection landed at #15 on Billboard’s Heat Seeker chart and also had impressive debuts on the trade magazine’s Hard Music (#32) and Indie (#67) charts. The album is streaming via the Bandcamp player below. More...
North Carolina’s rogue sludge trio Weedeater today confirms a brand new load of debauchery-ridden live gigs for the Summer season.
Sponsored by Invisible Oranges, the shit hits the fan June 27th in Savanna, Georgia, when Weedeater hits the stage with ASG, heading out for fourteen dates through the Deep South and up the West Coast to Seattle. Following that is an eight-city stretch with no direct opening support through Canada and the Midwest, and then wrapping up the trek is another eight-date run with Lo Pan providing support. More...
Following a few months on a hi[gh]atus from tour, Cape Fear sludge-slingers Weedeater will hit the bong and the road once again later this month.
The gravelly groove of the twisted trio will smoke-out nine East Coast cities between May 22nd and June 1st, the new rampage booked in conjunction with Weedeater’s trip up to blaze Baltimore at this year’s installment of the Maryland Deathfest.
Additionally, today Noisey/VICE whipped out the first episode of their new video series Heavy Dicks, which features Weedeater frontman and cough syrup aficionado Dixie Dave Collins. Dixie and the ‘Dicks crew put their fine appreciation for several varieties of cough suppressants to the test, pairing them with specifically-chosen varieties of fine cheese. Check it out right here.

With Sonar closing, the location of 2013's Maryland DeathFest XI was up in the air. The organizers have finally announced that the fest will be held in the same location as last year, and will be expanded. Maryland DeathFest XI will take place in Baltimore, Maryland on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-26, 2013. Tickets go on sale on October 15th at 12 pm (EST). You can read the entire update below:
We're a day early with this announcement, but we can finally let you know where MDF XI will be taking place.
In a nutshell, we will be returning to the property formerly known as Sonar, and will be at least doubling the amount of outside space that we've been used to utilizing. We realize that it's a bit of a mind fuck to wait around for a few months just to hear that the fest is returning to the same place, but truth be told, the other places we looked at were either not able to give us a definite answer anytime soon, and/or had too many inconveniences that we did not want to put the fans through. During the venue search, it was brought to our attention that the new owners of the property were willing to collaborate with us, so we decided to go through with returning to a familiar place that is close to the hotels and conveniences of downtown Baltimore.
The additional space outside will allow us to comfortably accommodate the crowd, and will allow more room for the MDF vendor village, food vendors/food trucks, places to sit, and other new additions like misting tents to escape the possibility of it being hotter than it should be that weekend. There will be two outside stages plus the stage inside. Due to the new configuration outside, the placement of the outside stages will likely be different.
As for the building itself, there are some renovations currently taking place, but the rooms will be used exactly how they have been in the past, and it will be air conditioned throughout.
We would also like to announce the addition of a second inside stage at Baltimore Soundstage, which is a 1/2 mile walk away from the former Sonar (at 124 Market Place), and will be used from Friday-Sunday. This will be a smaller show without a barricade that will feature mostly hardcore and punk bands, and it will be scheduled in a way that should not conflict with anything going on at the former Sonar compound. All of the bands for this stage will be included in next week's announcement on October 9th.

Presented by ScionAV and Brooklyn Vegan, the tour will run through October 19th and will include support from both Weedeater and Sourvein. Saint Vitus will be touring in support of its recently released eighth studio album, titled "Lillie: F-65."

Weedeater has issued the following update about filming a new music video:
"Hey all, although we can't let you see it quite yet, the Mancoon / Turkey Warlock video is finally complete! Big thanks to Scion for funding it, big thanks to David Brodsky and My Good Eye for coming down to the swamp to film it, and big thanks for all of you who showed up at Reggie's (including the owners/employees, who also rule) to participate in the action.
"After viewing, those of you from the old school might recognize that some portions of the filming took place out in the swamps of Hampstead at the old Weedeater house (thanks, Jimmy!). Aside from the water moccasins, the alligators and the giant Hampstead mosquitoes, we couldn't have asked for a more suitable location. The video will be released July 13th, so stay tuned for more info.
"There will be other news soon too, including a tour of the US and Canada in September and October and a new website coming this summer. More on all of that soon folks. And please don't forget to stop by our Shirtkiller store to check out the brand new shirt and hat designs by Guerilla ('Moon Ape' and 'Crest' being the newbies), plus if you're lucky you can still pick up one of the very last green vinyl *Jason* LPs anywhere. Just go here OK, that's it for now. Thanks as always for your support!"
A new video interview with Weedeater has been posted online. The interview was conducted by Bay Area Rocks and can be viewed in the player below.
Weedeater has checked in with the following recap of recent tour dates and update about upcoming festival appearances:
"Hey all, just a quick update from the Weedeater camp. We're in Newark NJ right now, about to board a plane and jump the pond to see all our friends in Europe again tomorrow. Stoked to play Roadburn, Asymmetry Fest and all the other killer shows that we have lined-up, w/our bros in Zoroaster providing the crushing support they always do. We'd also like to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out for the US shows over the last few months.
"It was our best tour ever and we enjoyed every minute of it, up until Shep broke his hand that is. Sorry to end it on that note, but the few canceled shows in the Southeast will be rescheduled soon, so you presumably disappointed people will get yours shortly. Another thanks to ASG, Kvelertak and Zoroaster for being awesome support bands and great guys in general. And yet another big THANK YOU to all for your support during this album release. This was the first time Weedeater has ever charted on Billboard's Heatseekers (debuting at #45, in fact) or anywhere else for that matter, and that's kinda cool. OK, that's it for now. See you soon."
The fantastic “South by South Death” earlier in the day would be a tough act to follow, but perhaps the best night show was set for the night of March 18th: The Metalliance Tour.
Following up the best day show yet, was the biggest official SXSW metal show: The Metalliance SXSW stop. The Metalliance tour featured an excellent lineup including The Atlas Moth, Howl, Red Fang, Weedeater, Kylesa, Crowbar, Helmet and Saint Vitus. The show was the first I’d attended at the Dirty Dog. It was a decent sized place, but not exactly laid out well for the crowd that would fill it that night.
I arrived while The Atlas Moth was playing. They had just a couple songs left in their set. The first thing I noticed is that the bass sounded very loud. It gave a groovier feel to their music and most of the bands who played that night for that matter. Their last two songs sounded pretty decent, even if bass-heavy.
Howl was up next and played a short set of their groovy style of doom. Still getting drinks and settled in, their set flew by with little sticking out to me, however. More...
