Sculptured Reveal New Album Details
The End Records has set a February 19, 2008 release date for the long-awaited third album from SCULPTURED, entitled "Embodiment".
The follow-up to 2000's "Apollo Ends", "Embodiment" finds Don Anderson (also of AGALLOCH; guitarist/vocalist) and band fusing together avantgarde, traditional/classic and death metal. Joining Anderson the CD are drummer Dave Murray (ESTRADASPHERE, DESERTS OF TRAUN, THOLUS), keyboardist Andy Winter (WINDS, AGE OF SILENCE), bassist Jason Walton (AGALLOCH, ESPECIALLY LIKELY SLOTH) and vocalist Tom Walling. Filmmaker, Postmodern Philsophy Inspire Sculptured
Don Anderson is hard at work writing the third full-length, as yet untitled Sculptured album. So far he has about half the album written. The new material is further developing the musical language initiated with "Apollo Ends."
Anderson says regarding the new songs, "I am really forcing myself to look at the guitar neck in a whole new manner. By using matrices I have to write most of the music out first and then learn it. It has been a real challenge because I can't rely on melodic patterns that have been ingrained into my hand for years. I am exploring new patterns and working with stacking chords together into 'blocks of sound.' I am really pleased with the new material." So far titles include "The Shape Of Rage," "Bodies Without Organs," "Becoming Something Other Than Death," "Help, I've Swallowed My Teeth" and an untitled song currently being composed. The themes of the third full-length are inspired by filmmaker David Cronenberg's "body horror" films and postmodern philosophy. This is music for BRAVE NEW EARS. Thanks for everyone's patience and support!”
Sculptured Continues Writing New Material
Sculptured is continuing to write music for their third as of yet untitled full-length album. The new material is a large step ahead from Apollo Ends and will continue to push the boundaries of Metal harmony. The music is being written using four-tone matrix systems that provide the foundational guitar riffs and harmonies. This is "death metal for brave new ears." Due to Anderson's continued work with Agalloch, there is no estimation for when this album will be recorded or released.
Sculptured Writing New Music For Third Album
After much anxiety, disillusionment, frustration, rewriting, relocating, a marriage, a Masters degree, recording "The Mantle," Agalloch tours, etc., Sculptured are currently writing new music for their third full-length album. The band hopes to enter the studio late next year as songwriter and guitarist/vocalist Don Anderson is still wrapping up his studies at the university. The music will be a move forward from "Apollo Ends" and will continue to expand the harmonic vocabulary of metal. Current song titles include; "The Shape of Rage," "Bodies Without Organs," and "Help, I've Swallowed My Teeth." The line-up will remain the same; however, the status of brass instruments is unknown. The band wishes to thank everyone for being patient and remaining supportive.
