Believer Reveals New Album Artwork For "Gabriel"

The album artwork for Believer's upcoming album "Gabriel" can be viewed on the Metal Blade MySpace Page. Metal Blade also issued the following update about the album:

"Pennsylvania based thrashers BELIEVER has just released the track listing and artwork for the highly anticipated release Gabriel, which will be the band's Cesspool Recordings /Metal Blade Records debut (Cesspool is Howard Jones' [Killswitch Engage] imprint label through Metal Blade). Gabriel will be available everywhere March 17th, 2009.

"The artwork for Gabriel was born from the talents of Michael Rosner (Roz) and Eye Level Studios. Working with Roz and the Eye Level team has been nothing short of amazing. The talent of these individuals is staggering and we found ourselves residing in the same crazy, pancake eating, warped dimension when it came to visual concepts. We tossed many ideas around with Roz but the main focus was to have the artwork compliment the music and vice-versa. Gabriel has been an artistic collaboration on many levels and the finished product truly highlights the incredible talents of Roz and the Eye Level team. We're not finished yet, so stay tuned for more Believer/Eye Level madness."

Believer frontman Kurt Bachman recently posted this update:
"Finally, the mix is complete and we will be mastering on November 18th. So far we think it sounds killer and don't worry, we will not push the volume to limits of distortion. Our plan is to keep all the dynamics in place for your listening enjoyment. The record will be released early next year and the artwork is absolutely amazing! Check back often for more updates as they should be rolling in more frequently. Thanks again to everyone for your patience and for getting the word out there about our new record. Believer Reveals More Album Details

Believer vocalist/guitarist Kurt Bachman has posted the following update:

"Hi everyone. Please forgive my blogging absence. Everything is going great with the record. We just recorded some amazing guest guitar solos from Joe Rico (SACRIFICE) and Rocky Gray (EVANESCENCE, SOUL EMBRACED, LIVING SACRIFICE) with some other guests on the way (not too many though). We hope to also have some label info and a release date to you very soon, so stand-by...

"Thanks again to all of you who are talking this up and keeping the buzz alive. Also, thank you for your patience. We just want it to sound amazing when you finally hear it!"

Believer Issues Another Studio Update

Pennsylvania progressive thrashers, Believer, have issued the following studio update

"I just wanted to update everyone on the progress. The vox are complete, and the lead guitars are now being tracked. 'The Programmers' also have their nerdy little hands on the tunes. We are also talking with several labels about our new stuff and the progress on this front will help to determine a possible release date, so stay tuned. Once this craziness subsides, we will enter rehearsal mode and start working on the live show. I can't tell you how many shows we will play in the future, but when opportunity knocks, we will do our best to answer. We're pretty stoked about performing live and possibly getting the chance to support some of the incredible bands on the circuit today."

Believer Frontman Posts Studio Update

BELIEVER guitarist/vocalist Kurt Bachman has posted this latest studio report on the band's MySpace page:

"Hello again. As promised, I am trying to update you on our progress more often. We just had a very productive weekend in the studio and have tracked more vox. We have to add vox on one more track and then onto more instrumental nonsense, editing and finally mixing. Thanks for hanging in there so patiently. Many of you have been wondering what the new stuff will sound like. Will it sound like 'Extraction from Mortality', 'Sanity Obscure', 'Dimensions'? Well, we think you'll hear a splash of each, but we didn't set out to just rehash the old. That would be boring and offer nothing new for you to hear. With that said (and I will remind you again once the release date draws closer), if you don't expect a total rewrite of the past then we think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks again to everyone who is helping to build the underground buzz. We can't thank you enough.

Take care and stay safe."

Believer Posts Studio Update

BELIEVER have checked in with this new studio report:

"Many of you have been asking for a new update, so here it is. We have been working hard on the vox and have two tunes left to do. We hope to finish these off this week and everything is sounding excellent (at least we think so). We cannot wait for you to hear this stuff. Hopefully everything business-wise will work out so that we can make it easily accessible to everyone who's interested. Along these lines, as soon as a release date is nailed down, you will be the first to know. We're pretty stoked to play this stuff live also and have been discussing song lists, technical details, etc. I'll try to provide you with updates on a more regular basis and thanks to those who send me reminders to do so."

Believer Issue Another Studio Update

Pennsylvania metallers, Believer, issue the following update from the studio on their MySpace page:

"Good evening all! It’s been a productive week at Trauma. Following some much-needed gear and software upgrades, the vox tracking is underway along with some other uncompromising insanity. We are very excited to be working with the gentlemen (and I use that term loosely) at Clandestine Music, who will be handling the business side of things. There will also be some very talented guests lending their skills to this mess. God knows why they would want to work with us, but we’re not complaining. "

"Thanks again for your patience and your continued support!"

"Stay tuned.

Believer Issue Studio Update On New Album

Guitarist/vocalist Kurt Bachman of the reactivated late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash metal band BELIEVER has posted the following message on the group's MySpace page:

"I'm happy to report that the work [on the new BELIEVER album] is flowing nicely. We really can't wait to start mixing, but we have some finishing musical touches to put down first. The plan is to start vocals very soon and hopefully crush through those. We need to put some minor guitar parts in also and some other 'interesting' things. Very few have heard the songs, but we've been getting amazing positive feedback from those who have-both longtime BELIEVER fans and some who have only heard bits and pieces from our past. Thanks again to all of you who have been keeping the buzz alive by posting the vids and tunes on your MySpace and web pages and introducing others to our stuff!"

Believer Finish Recording Rhythm Guitars For Album

Guitarist/vocalist Kurt Bachman of the reactivated late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash metal band BELIEVER has issued the following update:

"After some amp meltdowns and ruined guitar necks I am pleased to tell you that the rhythm guitar tracks [for the new BELIEVER album] are now complete!!! And they are HEAVY. We cannot wait for you to hear this stuff. Over the next few weeks, we will also be making some 'involved' decisions on when and how we are going to release our new material. Hopefully we will pass some info onto you in the near future.

"We have been completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of positive support from our fans worldwide. No matter what others may say, the metal community is alive and well and we are truly honored to be a very small part. A great big 'thank you' goes out to those who continue to run BELIEVER fan sites and to the metal webzines for posting updates about the band and our progress."

BELIEVER's albums "Extraction from Mortality" (1989), "Sanity Obscure" (1990) and "Dimensions" (1993) were made available on November 5 via Poland's Metal Mind Productions in a new digipak edition on golden disc, digitally remastered using 24-bit technology and limited to 2,000 numbered copies.

Believer Completes Drum Tracks For New Album

Guitarist/vocalist Kurt Bachman of the reactivated late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash metal band BELIEVER has issued the following update:

"Joey [Daub] has completed tracking drums [for BELIEVER's new album] except for one 'interesting' tune. He will be completing this next weekend. I have finished tracking the initial rhythm guitar tracks also. So far, we are very happy with how things are sounding. We hope to start tracking bass and more guitars over the weekend. We'll try to get some studio footage posted in the near future, so that you can witness some of the madness that's taking place.

"I hesitate to predict a release date, but we are shooting for the May/June timeframe. If we can get it out quicker we will, but as you know, we don't like to rush things. It's been 14 or so years, so I'm sure a couple extra months won't cause any distress. We just want it to sound amazing for you.

"As for how we will release the new material, this is still being discussed. Once we are in the mixing phase we will be finalizing the release plans and letting you know."

Believer Recording New Album

Guitarist/vocalist Kurt Bachman of the reactivated late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash metal band BELIEVER has issued the following update:

"The Trauma Team has started the actual recording [of the new BELIEVER album] and Joey [Daub, drums] has blazed through two tunes today (after many hours getting some sweet drum sounds). We will be hitting it hard again tomorrow. Sorry for our 'slowness,' but as you all know, we want this to be killer for you."

According to a press release, "In the entire history of the thrash metal genre, there was never a band as unique as BELIEVER. While their music showcased thrash influences from the rawest sort, delivering fast and violent sounds, the message they incorporated into their songs was the exact opposite of the typical thrash metal attitude. Through their music BELIEVER preached the word of God — each lyric is a testimony of faith and commitment to the Christian community. The band made sure that their message was properly introduced by supporting it with a heavy dose of brilliantly arranged melodies and thrashing riffs.

"Their debut album, 'Extraction From Mortality', easily shows the most brutal side of Christian metal, musically being comparable to thrash giants such as SLAYER and OBITUARY. Includes nine tracks filled with furious riffs and catchy melodies, sewn together with religiously inspiring lyrics. 'Sanity Obscure' is BELIEVER's second album on which the band takes on a more technical approach. Thrash metal origins progress into a more sophisticated and spiritualized form, conjoining both an aggressive sound and a meaningful message. It features catchy and expressive songs, with some impressive highlights as 'Stop the Madness', 'Non-Point' and the breathtaking symphonic/orchestral masterpiece — 'Dies Irae'. New edition includes liner notes written by the band. Their third and most impressive album, 'Dimensions', presents a band fully aware of its possibilities, able to create a one-time masterpiece, which this LP undoubtedly is. The 20-minute long track 'Trilogy of Knowledge' is one of the most extraordinary songs ever created by a metal band. New edition includes liner notes written by the band."

Believer Drummer Issue Update

Drummer Joey Daub (BELIEVER, FOUNTAIN OF TEARS) has issued the following update:

"As most of you know by now, the official Believer MySpace page is up and running."

"Kurt (Bachman) and I are currently in the rehearsal mode for the official recording due to start mid November. Since Metal Mind Productions is re-releasing all three Believer records (read the press release here), we thought it would be cool to make a limited edition t-shirt for each one. All three t-shirts are available now." More...

Believer Post Three New Demo Songs Online

Reactivated late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash metal band BELIEVER has posted three brand new "pre-production" snippets on its newly launched MySpace page.

Commented guitarist/vocalist Kurt Bachman: "It appears that the big questions are 'Where have you guys been?' and 'What's up with the new material?' To make a long story short, following the release of 'Dimensions' we decided to take an indefinite break and this had nothing to do with Roadrunner's support. They were very generous to us and we have nothing but fond memories of the work we did together. I decided to pursue another interest in biomedical research, particularly cancer genetics and therapy while Joey [Daub, drums] pursued other musical interests that resulted in FOUNTAIN OF TEARS. I was quite honored when asked to help out with the FOT production and it was great hanging with them in the studio. During this time, Joey and I began throwing around the idea of getting together at his studio, just for fun. Needless to say we had a great time and came up with some cool riffs. The next several months we would only get together a few times because of travel distance and busy schedules. I then decided to take a new research position that brought me closer to the studio. This is when the writing really started. We set up in my basement (shown in the video) and also moved some of my equipment to Joey's. The result will be a new BELIEVER recording." More...

Believer Albums To Be Re-Issued

Metal Mind Productions has set a November 5 release date for the remastered versions of the three albums from the late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash metal band BELIEVER: "Extraction From Mortality" (1989), "Sanity Obscure" (1990) and "Dimensions" (1993). Believer and Fountain of Tears Making Progress

BELIEVER/FOUNTAIN OF TEARS drummer Joey Daub has posted the following message on his web site:

"First, I need to apologize for the long time lapse between updates. It has been a crazy summer but it finally seems to be calming down. An end is in sight for the recording of the FOUNTAIN OF TEARS disc. The recording process has been somewhat drawn out, but upon listening back to some rough mixes of the songs, I feel it was well worth it. A few of the songs are floating around some labels and we are waiting to see if there is any interest there. In the meantime, we are preparing for the possibility of releasing the disc ourselves. We are continuing to play some shows and plan to keep spreading the name out there when and wherever we can. We recently had the opportunity to share the stage with THERION and we hope to have more chances like this in the future.

"The BELIEVER writing is slowly moving forward. Although Dr. Bachman [Kurt Bachman; BELIEVER guitarist/vocalist] is quite busy, we are still putting aside time for the project. My hope is that we can get some rough recordings on the site sometime in the future so we can get your feedback on the material.

Finally, this summer I caught the Gigantour in Atlantic City. Although my main objective was to see DREAM THEATER, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and NEVERMORE, it was all good! My hat goes off to the boys in DILLINGER for shredding the stage. Chris Pennie was incredible to watch and listen to as were Liam and Greg — well, everyone. Upon hanging out and talking with the guys it was surprising to learn that they were into BELIEVER, which meant so much to me coming from great musicians. I can't say enough about Chris's chops. The guy has got it goin' on! I encourage all drummers to check him out. A great band and great guys!"

Believer Writing New Material

Kurt Bachman, former guitarist/vocalist of the late '80s/early '90s technical-thrash BELIEVER, got together with ex-BELIEVER drummer Joey Daub recently and "finished up our first new BELIEVER tune!" according to Daub. "And there are two other tunes in process. We are both enjoying writing and we like the direction the material is going," Joey added. "Due to all that is going on with our schedules, it is difficult to get together a lot. However, we will continue to put time aside for this project.

"One last thing, if anyone has or knows anyone who has any bootlegged BELIEVER concerts or footage of the band please get in touch with me. We are trying to gather this for a possible DVD."
