It all began in 1991, the first of an unholy trinity of demos was complete. The young lads knew they had started something dark; something evil; something out of this world. They didn't disappoint with the release of their debut album 'The Principle of Evil Made Flesh' in 1994 on the label Cacophonous. The full length CD was a menagerie of gothic keyboards, metal riffing and Vampyric imagery. In other words the ultimate hammer horror soundtrack.

Drawing from an incredibly infinite list of influences, including the likes of Bathory, Celtic Frost and Diamanda Galas, and also the literary genius of Lord Byron, Sheridan LeFanu, Friedrich Nietzsche, Bram Stoker and Charles Baudelaire, Cradle Of Filth have produced albums of ever increasing quality. Soaring, sonic masterpieces that envelop you and take you away into the darkest depths of the collective Cradle mind. A dreamlike place full of legend, myths and Vampyres.

With 10 years in the past, Cradle Of Filth only have the future to conquer. Their recent concerts have built a fan base they never dreamed of. They truly have withstood the test of time.

Cradle Of Filth Teases Video, Changes Single Date

Cradle Of Filth has changed the release date for the first single off upcoming 12th album, "Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay."

Debut single "Heartbreak And Seance" will now be released on July 11th, and the pre-orders for the album will go live on the same day.

The band also recently shot a music video for "Heartbreak And Séance," which will also come online July 11th. Check out some photos from the shoot below.

Commented Dani Filth: "Working with such an artistic director as Arturs Berzinš was indeed an honour, as the video shoot was very extensively planned, involving a myriad of extras and crew, make-up girls and set builders, a crow, some well-behaved snakes and a considerable amount of snow, candles, water, trees, naked bodies, lamentable mourners, as well as all being submerged in suitably gothic landscapes and vistas.

"And the fact that we traveled to Riga in Latvia to film it was also very unique and interesting. The video itself is fantastic, drawing from the darkly erotic imagery of the album artwork and bringing it to richly technicoloured classical life. We had such a blast shooting it, as the accompanying photos attest to..." More...

Cradle Of Filth Reveals New Album "Cryptoriana"

UK's legendary extreme metal icons Cradle Of Filth have announced the details for the band's upcoming 12th full-length album.

"Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness Of Decay" will be released on September 22nd via Nuclear Blast. You can view the stunning cover artwork by Arturs Berzinš below. Berzinš is the mastermind behind the new record’s artwork, photography and videography – best known for his defiant neo-symbolism raster graphics and oil paintings; postmodern interpretations of classic myths. He has been proclaimed as a "sacred monster of Latvian postmodernism."

The album was recorded at Grindstone Studios, Suffolk, UK by the very honorable Scott Atkins, Esq., who has been the resident go-to producer for Cradle Of Filth for several albums. Dani sat in during the mix, serving up flaming mugs of teas, making the studio couch his own and lending his ears when necessary.

Commented the infamous Dani Filth: "The album is deeply infused with Victorian gothic horror and thus the title is a reflection of that. 'Cryptoriana' implies the Victorian's infatuation with the supernatural, the grave and the ghoulish. And the subtitle 'The Seductiveness Of Decay' further cements this attraction to death and the glittering lengthy process of self-annihilation."

The first single off from the album will be released on July 5th, the same day that the album pre-order will become available. More...

Cradle Of Filth Working On Album

Cradle Of Filth is very pleased to announce writing is underway for new material. The band has been locked away for the past week in a studio in Brno, Czech Republic, working on the follow-up to 2015's "Hammer Of The Witches" (reviewed here).

The evening before embarking on this creative quest, rather vocal front man Dani Filth said the following: "As a band we are very much looking forward to our writing session in Brno. It's going to be very inspirational to just bury ourselves away in a rehearsal room in the Czech Republic and knead our ammunition of razor sharp flesh-ripping sonic torments into sinister form.

"Hopefully when we emerge from our musical chrysalis one week later, something beautiful will be born. The new Cradle Of Filth album will be mostly written. Then will come the long Autumnal evenings bringing the monster further to life by dressing it in lyricism. I can hardly wait!

“As a band, Cradle Of Filth have already written about fifty percent of the material towards the new album, which now requires collating and readdressing. We started writing shortly after returning from our highly successful tour of the U.S. and Canada back in March. We were adrenalised by the whole reaction we received out there, having not been back to that part of the world for a fair few years. The camaraderie of playing to that many people across seven weeks really inspired us to start writing material again so soon after the release of our previous endeavour, 'Hammer Of The Witches'. 70,000 Tons Of Metal, Day Four: "Band Vs. Nature"

I woke up at the usual 7:30am after arriving at my cabin less than three hours prior. I really thought there would be more of a hangover…but then again, it really wasn’t that long since my last drink. I usually reserve the last full day/night of the cruise (today) to be the time I lay down the camera and act more like a fan, but circumstances were such that Saturday night was the party night.

So the last full day of the cruise is met much like any other Sunday before you go back to work…the morning brings the feeling of “I still have a full day ahead of me.” By mid-morning you think “Ok…I have to find a way to slow this day down.” By noon its “I still have lunch and dinner and a bunch of shows to see.” By mid-afternoon its “well, the sun is still out.” By early evening its “Fuck…its almost over.”

I headed up to the Windjammer for some breakfast and I brought my camera so I can check out the 10am pool deck show with Twilight Force. After eating, I walked up to deck 12 and guards were blocking the pool deck from every angle. Apparently there was a banner that was blowing around that may cause harm if it detached…or so the story went. I checked back four times…even seeing many of the band members in costume and ready to go. It was not to be…Twlight Force would be cancelled and rescheduled…but this was just the beginning of the nightmare. More...

70,000 Tons Of Metal, Day Two: "The Marathon Day"

I woke around 7am – excited for what was not only the first full day of the cruise…but what I hoped would be the most concerts I’ve ever attended in any single day of my life. It was all mapped out…but the question is – would the pool deck be ready?

I headed up to Deck 12 to assess the situation…and once I made it to the yellow police tape, I realized – here we go again. In 2015, the high winds at sea forced the crew to abandon building the pool deck stage (the largest at sea) until the morning. It took them until 6pm to get it ready for Soulfly’s set, forcing all other shows to be reworked indoors. This year, the plan going in seemed to be to rework the shows where available – likely at the end of the evening within the venues inside. I recalled my joke to Siegfried Sammer of Visions of Atlantis – “I’ll see you at 10am…IF – and that’s a big IF…the pool deck is ready.” Well, it appears the jinx was on because Visions of Atlantis would be bumped to Saturday. The guard told me that 11:30am was the target time for completion, which is still way better than 2015. More...

Cradle of Filth Spreads Vampire Plague

Two days in February will probably become two of the most sought after days for metal concerts in central Texas. This is because European bands invaded the Lone Star state. First, on Friday the 12th, Cradle of Filth ravaged the Aztec Theater in San Antonio. Then, At The Gates thrashed Austin. Both shows brought in a large crowd, which was partially due to their popularity but also due to the fact that Euro bands like these just don’t tour much.

My show report on At The Gates will post soon, but first let’s look at COF’s performance at the Aztec. Due to horrendous traffic, it took me 3.5 hours to drive from Georgetown, Texas to San Antonio Friday traffic is terrible and on this day I encountered 4 wrecks and traffic stalls. I guess next time I’ll need to take off around noon on Friday to see all the bands. The drive is terrible. Once I made it to the venue Butcher Babies were halfway through their set. Other than boobs on parade, I don’t give much credence to this band. They sound very cliché for the times and there is nothing that really grabs me.

Cradle Of Filth Arrives In The U.S.

The start of Cradle Of Filth's tour with Ne Obliviscaris and Butcher Babies was postponed due to visa issues, but today the band finally arrives and the tour kicks off with all remaining dates to go ahead as planned. The Filth comments:

"United States. We have arrived in Charlotte! And already we have been to a super Walmart star destroyer!
