Per Nilsson Joins The Absence

Tampa, Florida’s The Absence has announced that guitarist Per Nilsson of Scar Symmetry has joined forces with the group after the departure of Peter Joseph earlier this month.

The band has already begun tracking for a new EP with James Murphy and will release a single from these efforts soon. Per Nilsson also comments on joining the band:

“Six years ago the guys asked me to do a guest solo for the 'Riders' album and we've been friends ever since. I've followed their career as a fan and when they reached out asking me to join the band, it was a no-brainer. I am super excited to be a part of The Absence family; we've been jamming out some new tunes and I feel like we've got some killer stuff in the works for ya! Between Patrick and me, there’s gonna be some INSANE guitar shreddin' on the new tunes!”

The band members also had some words to share:

“We are super excited to have Per a part of the family. Look forward to great things!” - Jamie Stewart

“Beyond siked to play with such a great friend” - Jeramie Kling

“With Per now a part of The Absence… Boundaries are non-existent” - Patrick Pintavalle

“Per is one of my favorite dudes in the world; I couldn't be more exited to have him in the band!” - Michael Leon

The Absence Parts Ways With Guitarist

Florida's The Absence has issued the following announcement about parting ways with guitar player Peter Joseph:

"As most of our friends and fans know the last year has brought The Absence some ups-and-downs, and most of us have emerged a much stronger and dedicated group at the end of it all.

"We owe as much to our fans who have always offered us amazing amounts of support and we are genuinely excited about what is coming next. We have done a lot of work to get ourselves to the point where we are able to begin delivering new music, merchandise, and even a killer new live show, but the work that is left to do must be done quickly and will require unquestionable reliability, dedication, input, and above all else a mutual sense that we are in this together.

"At this time we are sad to say that The Absence will be parting ways with guitarist Peter Joseph. We will not be announcing a replacement at this time; we will have more information as things progress and we are able to sort everything out over the coming weeks.

"Keep an eye out for brand new music from us very soon and for all of the fans that have been after us for merch please come by our Facebook page and visit our brand new digital stores where you can pick up some new gear from The Absence. This year we plan to hit harder than ever so keep your eyes peeled!"

Firewind Posts New Music Video Online

The Greek melodic metal band FIREWIND, led by young guitar sensation Gus G., has returned with the scathing new studio album "Days of Defiance." The disc is set for an October 25th release worldwide.

The video for the album’s blistering lead-off single, “World On Fire,” can now be viewed exclusively at MetalSucks. The clip was shot by the renowned Patric Ullaeus (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Lacuna Coil).

FIREWIND will celebrate the album’s release with a limited number of special North American headlining shows. The trek, which kicks off on November 4th and runs through November 7th, features Powerglove and The Absence in the support slots.

Gus G. states: “The video for ‘World on Fire’ was shot entirely on green screen and I think this time Patric Ullaeus has outdone himself! The concept is based on the album cover artwork and it's something we're doing for the first time on a video of ours. There's a barbaric vibe to it, lots of fire, metal warriors and even a Valkyrie. We're very pleased with the final result and we believe this is our best video yet. Check it out and let the FIREWIND rage on.

“We are also very happy to announce four special album release shows in North America this fall in support of our new record, Days of Defiance. It's been awhile since FIREWIND played North America, as our last tour was Spring/Summer 2008.

“This is a very special run for us, as it will be the first time we'll play the new songs live. It also might be awhile until we come back for a full North American run, so we REALLY hope to see many of you come out to these shows. We'll be sure to rock you to the ground and that's a promise!”

Here are the FIREWIND headlining shows:

11/4 Volume 11 – Raleigh, NC
11/5 Jaxx – West Springfield, VA
11/6 The Gramercy – New York, NY
11/7 Les Foufounes Electriques – Montreal, Que
