The book, published by Feral House, revisits critical moments in the history of the grindcore and death metal genres. “Choosing Death: The Original Soundtrack,” the Relapse Records companion CD compilation to “Choosing Death” featuring classic tracks from Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Death, At the Gates, and many more in addition to exclusive, never-before-heard songs from Nihilist (pre-Entombed), Suffocation and Pig Destroyer, is also available.
Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Belgian grindcore quintet, Leng Tch'e. The tentative release date for the band's Relapse debut, "Process of Elimination," is June 28th in the US and July 4th in Europe.
Leng Tch'e (Sven De Caluwé: Drums, Jan Hallaert: Guitar, Boris Cornelissen: Vocals, Geert Deverster: Guitar, Nicolas Malfeyt: bass) furrow apart the standards of traditional grindcore and suture it together with hardcore and doom appendages.
On the topic of signing to the band's new home, De Caluwé states, "What can one say about getting signed to a record company one has been looking up to for the past ten years, owning most of their discography & growing up with the label as a fan and now getting a chance to become a part of this legacy is simply amazing. It's definitely a big honor for us to be a part of the Relapse roster, being among all bands who we look up to & work with people who are devoted to the scene. We're thrilled about all this & can't wait to get the new record out & to see all you crazy mofos on tour!"
Leng Tch'e have upcoming tour plans which include dates supporting Morbid Angel, dates with label-mates Pig Destroyer and festival appearances that include Fury Fest (France), Maryland Death Fest (United States), Krakfest (Germany) and FYU fest (Belgium) among others.

Former MORBID ANGEL bassist Steve Tucker has resurfaced in alternative rock band UNDERCURRENT. Tucker, who sings in the band, has also laid down his bass in exchange for a guitar, had this to say about his new outfit:
"Personally I think some of the best musicians in the world play or have played Death metal. But it is very limited emotionally, and I feel that I have gone beyond that emotional level. By no means is UnderCurrent anything near Death Metal. Now I want to do something that is real to me, something that is far more personal and UnderCurrent is definately that."
Morbid Angel's official website has posted some new photos of the band's lineup here. The current lineup features returned vocalist/bassist David Vincent, guitarists Trey Azagthoth and Tony Norman, and drummer Pete Sandoval.
How are things going on the road for Cradle Of Filth? The band is currently touring the US in support of their latest release, "Nymphetamine"...and bassist Dave Pybus writes in with the following:

"[It will be] just a two-band bill to give both bands a great chance to play a good-quality set and show for the fans," Ford said. "And yes, because of the success and great time everyone had in South America with South American fans and those shows, David [Vincent, bass/vocals] is doing these shows [with MORBID ANGEL]. We did this years ago with SEPULTURA in Europe and had a great time together. Max [Cavalera, SOULFLY/ex-SEPULTURA frontman] and Gloria [Max's wife/manager] are longtime friends."

Swedish black/death metallers The Legion are busy writing songs for the follow-up to last year's debut album, "Unseen to Creation". "Seven tracks are completed so far and the new material will for sure surpass anything we’ve ever done before," the band write on their web site. "We are planning to start the recording of this as-yet-untitled album sometime early next year."
The Legion's debut album, "Unseen To Creation", was released last October through France's Listenable Records. The CD, which was recorded at Abyss Studios with producer Tommy Tägtgren, features "ten songs of complex and eclectic black/death metal, ranging in style from Morbid Angel to Setherial." The cover art was done by Kris Verwimp, who has previously worked with Marduk, Absu, and Immortal, among others.
German zine www.metal1.info has posted a new interview with ex-Morbid Angel vocalist/bassist Steve Tucker where he comments on this departure from the band.
I didn't feel that I wanted to be a part of Morbid Angel any longer. There were some issues I had with people's commitment and desire. I play from the heart and could never do anything that wasn't 100% real to me. So I felt it was time to go do something else.

Earache Records has officially announced that they and Morbid Angel have parted ways after fifteen years of working together. Here's a quote from the label: "They are without a doubt one of the most influential and innovative metal bands ever and their creative talent is matched by their hard work and dedication. We wish Morbid Angel all the best of luck with their future endeavors."
The following update has been posted at Genitorturer's official website:
Evil D (former Morbid Angel frontman David Vincent) has been asked to cover four shows that Morbid Angel had to reschedule due to the unexpected last minute departure of their singer/bass player Steve Tucker. He has agreed to play four shows in South America and for now that is the only thing that he has committed to doing with them. His "status" with Genitorturers is unchanged and he is currently in the studio working on the new Genitorturers album. Genitorturers will be announcing select US shows for late October.
Vincent is subbing in for frontman Steve Tucker who chose to leave the band on August 13th.
Steve Tucker has decided to leave Morbid Angel. David Vincent will be in charged of the vocals and bass. Here is a message from Steve:
After many problems and much discussion with the people around me, the people I trust. I have decided it is necessary for me to step away from Morbid Angel. It has been a long trip with a lot of great shows and I have made many friends along the way. The Morbid Angel fans that not only excepted me, but reveled in my being a part of the band, have been the greatest thing about my time in Morbid Angel. They are the reason I came back to the band.
There are many reasons for me leaving the band, personal reasons, musical reasons and very logical reasons. All of which will stay between me and the band . Morbid Angel existed many years before I came along and will for many more I am sure.
I have enjoyed playing with some great musicians and touring with some great bands and meeting some incredible people all over the world. To all these people I say "Thank You" and we will meet again.
I am not done with the music business by any means. I will now be moving into other areas of the business, things I have always enjoyed, but didn't have time for. I will be moving into much more recording, production and management, so any bands interested in working with me, feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Again ,thank you to all of the fans for 8 years of making my hour and a half of stage time so brilliant!
MORBID ANGEL bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker has clarified the reasons for the second and latest postponement of the group's South American tour. Says Tucker: "It is true that the tour was cancelled due to me and my health. What was thought initially to be a panic/anxiety attack indeed was not. It is in fact an infection in my lungs, thought to be due to my excessive travel and the variety of weather and environments that I endure in these travels. This is part of being in a touring band and cannot be avoided. I have been advised not to travel for some period of time, and to stay home relax to let my lungs clear. This is very unfortunate for both the fans and the band alike. We were looking forward to doing the Mexican, South American tour. I apologize for any inconvenience for the fans and the promoters, as well as to my bandmates."
The rescheduled South American dates are as follows:
Sep. 04 - Monterrey, N.L., MEX - Cafe Iguana
Sep. 05 - Mexico City, MEX - Arena Lopez Mateos Tlalnepantla
Sep. 07 - Santiago de Chile, CHL - Teatro Providencia -cupo limitado
Sep. 10 - Bogota, COL - Venue TBA

Morbid Angel looks like it won't be with Earache Records too much longer. The band's contract is up and the label hasn't picked up the option of more albums yet. However, they have until August 6th to do.
