Aborted Updates On Upcoming US Tour, Lineup

Belgium’s Aborted are preparing for their first full North American invasion. Their new album, The Archaic Abattoir, “an epic in its own right” won the band considerable praise. Founder and vocalist Sven De Caluwe commented on the upcoming tour and line-up changes: “Things are really starting to move fast for us, and we're fully preparing ourselves for the upcoming U.S. tour with Cryptopsy, Suffocation and Despised Icon. Needless to say, we're all extremely psyched about this tour and can't wait to spread our own little brand of death-fucking-metal to all our fans. To the people who have been waiting to see us over there; the wait is over, and we'll make sure none of you will have any regrets. Some news on the band, we're also very happy with the way the new line-up is working out. Guitarist Stephane Souteyrand has been in the band since June and has been more than great. He's not only a great musician but also a very cool guy to work with, and we can't wait to start writing the next album with him by our side. See you guys in a month!”

The video for “Dead Wreckoning” will premier on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball Saturday night September 3rd. Produced by Darren Doane (Shadows Fall, Nile) and filmed in Downtown L.A. “in the basement of an old meat factory, De Caluwe said, “Scary fact is that there was blood everywhere, fresh blood, which neither Darren nor the band put there. Weird part is the factory has been out of business for quite some time…”

Cattle Decapitation Cancel Tijuana Show

San Diego extreme metallers CATTLE DECAPITATION were forced to cancel their previously announced appearance in Tijuana, Mexico on Friday. In an April 8 post on the group's web site, the band write, "Our van broke down at the beginning of the CRYPTOPSY tour, and we had to ditch it in North Carolina and rent that stupid RV you may have seen us pulling up in recently. We're at a Pilot truck stop in New Mexico right now and are going to drive through the night to make it to the Anaheim gig at Chain Reaction. We're very sorry to those people that were going to come out to the show tonight. Sorry guys. Sorry Mario. We'll make it up with another show if that's OK. There's nothing we can do right now. We're over 900 miles away... We'll make it to Chain Reaction though."

CATTLE DECAPITATION's latest album, "Humanure", was recorded with producer Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, W.A.S.P., SIX FEET UNDER), and marks the recording debut with the group of drummer Michael Laughlin. The band parted ways with drummer David Astor in May of 2003 due to his inability to live up to the obligations of touring and regular necessities of the band.

Behemoth, Suffocation Live Report

It turns out that The Palladium in Worcester, MA has a hidden gem that has somehow eluded my attention before. "Upstairs" is a 350- capacity room with atmosphere and sound that "downstairs" comes close to but fails to top. I'm not sure if it was the size of the venue or the fans, or maybe both, but this show felt so much... intimate and heartfelt. The bands too felt these emotions floating in the air and responded accordingly. It was one of those nights when you get this awe-inspiring feeling that you belong to the metal community. More...

Cattle Decapitation Finish Humanure Tour

Travis Ryan, singer/guitarist for San Diego grinders CATTLE DECAPITATION has posted the following road update at their official website:

"We're hanging out with our friends right now in Denver. Len (singer) from CEPHALIC CARNAGE is always the man when we're through town and let's us make a mess of his pad. Thanks cholo! Tonight is the first date of this tour in Colorado Springs. These shows will more than likely close out the touring cycle for Humanure so please come out... it will be the last times you'll probably see us abroad in the US for a while since we're going home to write and then record after this tour playing regional shows only. Maybe we'll hit Europe, who knows. Come check out these brutal tours we're on and stop by and say hello to San Francisco's own The Metal Chef (www.metalchef.com) at our merch booth. He's come along with us to hawk our shit and make us insane vegetarian meals when there's nothing but crap everywhere. We have an awesome new shirt design with us for our song 'Bukkake Tsunami'. It's pretty brutal considering the recent tsunami disasters, but we'll have everyone know that the shirts were designed AND printed months before the tragedy in East Asia. We're not just being dicks. It's just, uh, bad timing? We'll have those Human Jerky picture discs sometime next month. Oh yeah, we also have the 10 Torments of The Damned 7". They were unearthed recently from storage unit in perfect condition and handed over to us. So, don't bother with that Ebay crap, come to the show and get it from us. Check the shows section for the tour dates near you! OK, see you soon and stay gore."

Diecast Video Shoot And Tour Update

Boston-based quintet Diecast just shot a video for "Medieval" with acclaimed director Dale Resteghini (Fear Factory, Hatebreed). The track comes off of the band's highly anticipated new album, "Tearing Down Your Blue Skies," set for an October 19th release. Jeremy Wooden (bass) checks in with the following band update:

Diecast just had a very busy weekend. First I'd like to thank Mike Hsu and WAAF for the interview on Harder Faster on Thursday night. On Friday, we shot our first video for our single "Medieval." I'd like to thank Scott Lee for being so cooperative and allowing us to use Fat Cat's if we had needed it. At the last minute we were able to end up shooting the video at Fort Revere in Hull, which was amazing. We were expecting a few cameras and a couple of people for the video. What we got were 4 box trucks full of equipment and a 15 person video crew. Dale and his crew were some of the best people we've ever met. We had camera's on mini railroad tracks, lighting, fog machines, guns, hookers and fire-trucks. For a minute I thought I was playing bass for Britney Spears....it was awesome. I'd like to thank all of our friends we haven't seen in a long time for coming out to be in the video. We even had a surprise guest appearance by the almighty hoods in the video.

On Saturday night we played a hometown show at Club Liquid, which is about a mile from my house. The club took great care of us and the show went well minus the fight that happened and some asshole owes me 150.00 for putting their foot through my bass case. We topped it off on Sunday at WAAF sponsored Locobazooka. Unfortunately, for us and Candiria we went on after Damageplan who closed their set with "Walk" by Pantera. That was a tough act to follow but Candiria ripped it up, brought all the kids running back over and the crowd gave us an amazing reaction. Kids were singing our new stuff all the way to the back of the crowd, which was amazing to us. I'd also like to thank our manager Mike Crowley and his buddy Kevin for helping out all weekend. Last but not least we finally got scrims and a banner, which almost made me cry tears of joy. Thanks everyone for a great weekend and we'll see you soon.

Diecast will also embark on a string of headlining west-coast dates in early November. It has been three years since the band hit this area and these shows are not to be missed.

10/15 The Edge - Augusta, ME (Record Release Show)
10/16 Downtime - New York, NY (CMJ Showcase)
10/17 The Bomb Shelter - Manchester, NH
10/31 The Kave - Bucksport, ME (Halloween Party)
11/04 The Whisky - West Hollywood, CA w/ All Shall Perish
11/05 Big Game - Fresno, CA
11/06 Chain Reaction - Anaheim, CA w/ Cattle Decapitation, Black Dahlia Murder

Cattle Decapitation's "Humanure" Cover Gets Banned

Cattle Decapitation have posted this message on their official website:

We've been given the option to change the album cover and we're doing it. We’ve received too many complaints that people are unable to find the album and that is something we wanted to defeat by signing with Metal Blade. We knew it had to incorporate the current original artwork somehow as well as to put across a message. We're going to go with the image that's on the back of the current layout. Its just a barren wasteland that (now in hindsight, cryptically) symbolizes the ill effect of censorship as well as the fallout left by the apocalypse known as humanity. Void of flavor and life. Exactly the way this world will be when it cures itself of this disease. The positive things to come out of this? Now nobody will be able to complain that they can't find what we think is our best record to date as well as more focus on the music and the lyrics. The original cover has been released(though it will now be limited edition) so at least it exists somewhere and the vinyl version on Deep Six Records will still have the original cover. We're really not concerned with "grossing people out," our music deserves more than that and the lyrics do a fine job of that already.

We suggest that if you don't have "Humanure" already, get it. This change will take place as soon as the printers can belt out the new copies. After that the original version will be deleted. And it's by far our best release yet.

To any possible sceptics: It's death metal. If we were all about money and album sales we wouldn't have given our lives to this kind of music. Don't try. We’re on tour constantly busting our asses so the record needs to be in stores.

Who to blame? I wish it was as simple as "The PMRC." After Janet Jackson revealed her mammary glands (complete with surrounding tissue and piercing) on national TV, the FCC has tightened the noose on the entertainment industry, forcing chain stores and countless others to pay more attention to this kind of thing. Fear. Having ultra Christian/right-wing conservatives running our country doesn't help much either. Get out there and vote, people.

The double LP vinyl version of "Humanure" is now available on Deep Six Records with gatefold cover on "Pepto-Bismol Puke" colored vinyl. There was a defect in which the copies came with the first record in root beer color. There are 182 of these defects."
