Cattle Decapitation's "Humanure" Cover Gets Banned

Cattle Decapitation have posted this message on their official website:

We've been given the option to change the album cover and we're doing it. We’ve received too many complaints that people are unable to find the album and that is something we wanted to defeat by signing with Metal Blade. We knew it had to incorporate the current original artwork somehow as well as to put across a message. We're going to go with the image that's on the back of the current layout. Its just a barren wasteland that (now in hindsight, cryptically) symbolizes the ill effect of censorship as well as the fallout left by the apocalypse known as humanity. Void of flavor and life. Exactly the way this world will be when it cures itself of this disease. The positive things to come out of this? Now nobody will be able to complain that they can't find what we think is our best record to date as well as more focus on the music and the lyrics. The original cover has been released(though it will now be limited edition) so at least it exists somewhere and the vinyl version on Deep Six Records will still have the original cover. We're really not concerned with "grossing people out," our music deserves more than that and the lyrics do a fine job of that already.

We suggest that if you don't have "Humanure" already, get it. This change will take place as soon as the printers can belt out the new copies. After that the original version will be deleted. And it's by far our best release yet.

To any possible sceptics: It's death metal. If we were all about money and album sales we wouldn't have given our lives to this kind of music. Don't try. We’re on tour constantly busting our asses so the record needs to be in stores.

Who to blame? I wish it was as simple as "The PMRC." After Janet Jackson revealed her mammary glands (complete with surrounding tissue and piercing) on national TV, the FCC has tightened the noose on the entertainment industry, forcing chain stores and countless others to pay more attention to this kind of thing. Fear. Having ultra Christian/right-wing conservatives running our country doesn't help much either. Get out there and vote, people.

The double LP vinyl version of "Humanure" is now available on Deep Six Records with gatefold cover on "Pepto-Bismol Puke" colored vinyl. There was a defect in which the copies came with the first record in root beer color. There are 182 of these defects."

Cattle Decapitation Tour and "Humanure" Update

Cattle Decapitation posted the following update on the bands official website:

Cattle Decapitation is back from tour!!! Well, for a couple weeks at least. We leave in a couple weeks for the Deicide tour. Check the shows section for dates. Thanks to all who came out to the tour we just did with Black Dahlia Murder, Goatwhore and our bros in Watch Them Die. We had a blast. We'd also like to say thank you VERY MUCH to our merch guy JP for saving our lives the other day. On our way home coming out of Lincoln, Nebraska the whole band came very close to a full head on collision. We were heading west on I80 and this car suddenly came barrelling towards us on 2 wheels accross the grass median from the eastbound freeway. All JP saw was the roof of the car as it came literally 1-2 feet from the front of our vehicle. The crash would have been devastating had JP not taken control of our van and slammed on the brakes. We pulled over and the sight was not pretty. The passenger was just a little kid and he was unconscious and his face looked similar to the head on the Brujeria "Matando Gueros" album. The driver and the backseat passenger were messed up pretty bad too and the car was completely munched. A couple of us assisted in getting blankets and talking to the cops. We had to go to the police station in Lincoln to fill out a report since JP was the only real witness. About 20 minutes later, our trailer tire blew up and took the trailer fender with it. See kids, these are the reasons you must go to support your local scene, especially if you're going to download bands' music. The music industry is dying and these bands need all the help they can get. From Britney Spears to Broken Hope. Support your scene.

*Cattle Decapitation's new album "Humanure" is nominated for "Best Hard Rock Album" at the San Diego Music Awards!!! 2002's "To Serve Man" won the same award last year...

*There will be some sort of news shortly regarding the "Humanure" album cover. We can't give any details just yet, but all I can say is you may want to get it now. The version in stores right now may not be around for long. Seriously. More details on that coming shortly.

Current "Humanure" radio stats:
CMJ Loud Rock: #3 (up 3 spots)
CMJ Crucial Spins: #24

Cattle Decapitation Album And Tour Update

Cattle Decapitation singer Travis Ryan has issued this band update:

"Cattle Decapitation's new album "Humanure" is released! Check it out, it's our best one yet. Don't bother with Best Buy or Musicland, though. They refuse to carry the CD because of the cover. It's also banned in Europe and now in these chain stores in our own country!!! You should have no problem finding it in your local independent music store, online and through other chain stores.

Well, the tour started off kind of odd. I broke my hand on the first day of tour just hours before the Chain Reaction show in Anaheim,CA. 4 carpals were annihilated and a possible fracture of the scaffoid bone, an extremely hard to heal bone. I now have an annoying cast on my right arm. We're still doing the tour!!! We're in Alberquerque, NM tonight playing with Cannibal Corpse and our friends in Black Dahlia and Severed Savior. We'll see you guys soon. Come out and check out the shows...you see them in the shows section at www.cattledecapitation.com."
