He replaces Vastator, who recently quit the band due to musical and personal differences. Drummer/vocalist Proscriptor says of the replacement, "We are very proud to welcome Zawicizuz as the newest musician of ABSU! He is one of the best-kept secrets in the extreme Texas music environment and we are delighted to convey our next chapter of mythological occult metal with him."
ABSU will enter Nomad Recording Studio in April 2008 to begin recording the self-titled CD for a tentative autumn release on Candlelight Records. The album will be engineered/produced by none other than Sterling Winfield (PANTERA, KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE, SOLITUDE AETERNUS, USURPER, BLOOD OF THE SUN, etc.) and mastered by Proscriptor at his studio Tarot Productions. According to a press release, "666-Satan’s Soldiers Syndicate" again shows the band's typical thrashing, blacking riff metal without mercy - where there is no space for any innovation and modern elements! "666-Satan’s Soldiers Syndicate" features guest appearances by Proscriptor (ABSU), A.A. Nemtheanga (PRIMORDIAL) and Ashmedi (MELECHESH).

DESASTER have finished the songwriting process for their upcoming, sixth studio album “666 - Satans Soldiers Syndicate”. This time around the German black/thrashers will be heading over to Holland to record at Harrow’s Studios in Losser. “Bands like the legendary death metal gods ASPHYX and other fine bands like SOULBURN, OCCULT, MELECHESH and FLESH MADE SIN have recorded their albums in this studio. Quite a good selection of bands we’d say”, comments the band. The album will be mixed in June and DESASTER are looking into an August/September release.
“The new songs are a strict continuation of the last few albums, which means NO COMPROMISE! If you are expecting innovative, ambitious music you are 666 % wrong. DESASTER stands for traditional riff metal – thrashy, black and full of blasphemy!”
Song titles include a. o. 'Fade Forever Flesh', 'Razor Ritual', 'Hellbangers' and 'Tyrannizer'.
Long-running Celtic metal act WAYLANDER were reunited with former band member and editor of Ireland's Metalworks magazine, Martin MacCormaic, for a memorable set at the fourth installment of Ireland's Day of Darkness festival on July 9. MacCormaic, who left WAYLANDER in 2002, took to the stage to attend to tin-whistle duty as the band performed in front of a frenzied crowd. Also performing at the festival were doom titans MOURNING BELOVETH, whose powerful performance on the day included tracks from the band's recently released third album, "A Murderous Circus". The festival was headlined by black metal legends ROTTING CHRIST. The four-piece celebrated their first-ever performance on Irish soil and delivered a rousing performance that served as a fitting end to the days proceedings.
The full lineup for the one-day event was: ROTTING CHRIST, DESASTER, MOURNING BELOVETH, SCAVENGER, WAYLANDER, CARNUN RISING, PRIMAL DAWN, DEVILMAKESTHREE, WRECK OF THE HESPERUS and GROUND OF RUIN. Photos of the event can be seen at dayofdarkness.com.
