Band Photo: Lacuna Coil (?)
From: Milan, Italy
Last Known Status: Active
Originally formed in 1996, the band teamed up with producer Waldemar Sorychta (Sentenced, Samael, Tiamat) in 1998. Terrorizer Magazine hailed Lacuna Coil's self-titled debut as "superb, and its strength soon weakens whatever resistance you may have had after repeated plays." In 1999, The album In A Reverie was released with the same producer. They played at the Dynamo Open Air Festival in The Netherlands, the Metal Mania Festival in Poland, and Italy's prestigious Gods Of Metal Festival, and the Altheimer Open Air Festival. They released the Halflife EP, which was recorded in Italy with a new producer, to their European community of fans in the year 2000.
In 2001, they released Unleashed Memories with their original producer, this album (released in North America with the previously unavailable Halflife EP). Praised by Alternative Press for their "supersize chords that nearly burst into flame, gorgeous three-part harmonies and chill-inducing melodies that recycle in your head for days" and earning a special mention in Billboard Magazine's Hard Music Spotlight for their "compelling mixture of seductive melodies and aggressive riffs," the band embarked on their first North American tour with Moonspell in the winter of 2001. Metal Maniacs documented their live show to be "a sensory overload of the highest order. In one word: intoxicating."
Lacuna Coil creates a dream-like quality of the world, which floods you with a myriad of heavy and hypnotic sounds. The epic feel of their latest melodic invention, Comalies, will quickly lead to you believe that an incredibly personal epiphany is about to happen. Each song contributes to the build-up, encouraging introspection while documenting the sadness that this particular journey uncovers. Upholding the emotive yin/yang tradition of vocal interplay between the dulcet tones of Cristina Scabbia and the deliberate vocals of her male singing partner Andrea Ferro, Comalies is another dynamic exploration of Lacuna Coil's soulfully somber and stunningly enigmatic musical alchemy.

Fresh from their sold-out European/UK tour, Grammy-nominated Stone Sour is primed to capture the attention and the hearts of the rock ‘n roll masses. The band is a multi-faceted hard rock force of nature whose twisting melodies run the gamut of emotions. "This has been something we have been looking forward to for a very long time." says Stone Sour vocalist, Corey Taylor. "Having done this tour before, I can honestly say it's like nothing I've ever experienced. It's our time, and we're coming for you."
The Tour will rock through May and each show will be rounded out with a local Jägermeister band. Going on six years, the Jägermeister Music Tour is bigger and bolder than ever, becoming THE hard rock show to see. Produced by Live Nation, past Tours have brought Disturbed, Slayer, Slipknot, Staind and Hatebreed, to the masses, and now the Tour continues its hard rock charge. More...
Century Media Records has signed a pan-European contract with Zebralution, Europe's biggest digital distributor. With offices in Berlin, Duisburg, Paris and New York, Zebralution has established itself in 2006 with such online hits as BOB SINCLAIR's "Love Generation" and songs by XAVIER NAIDOO.

Glenn Danzig announced that a special 2006 west coast-only edition of the "Blackest of the Black" tour will kick off on November 17 in Seattle, WA. Headliner Danzig - Glenn Danzig/vocals, former Samhaim bandmate Steve Zing on bass, and Type O Negative's Johnny Kelly/drums and Kenny Hickey/guitar - will be joined by Lacuna Coil, The Haunted, Belphegor, and Asesino.
This is the third year of Danzig's highly successful "Blackest of the Black" tour. The festival was organized by Danzig and debuted in the summer of 2003 with Danzig, Superjoint Ritual, Opeth, Nile, Lacuna Coil and Behemoth on the bill. The 2005 edition featured Danzig, Chimaira, Behemoth, Himsa, Mortiis (ex-Emperor), and The Agony Scene.
"'The Blackest of the Black' tour is for extreme bands that sell out venues across the country, that sell records, but don't get radio play or get on MTV," said Danzig. "It's anti the corporate crap nu-rap-metal that gets shoved down fans' throats at other concerts."
In addition to organizing and headlining the "Blackest of the Black" tour, Glenn Danzig will see the October 17 release of "Black Aria II" (evillive), the follow up to 1993's "Black Aria," which debuted at Number One on the Billboard Classical chart. Produced, written and - with a couple of exceptions - performed by Glenn, "Black Aria II" employs thundering organ, otherworldly chants, operatic lamentations, poignant strings, ominous percussion, ritualistic chimes and other mysterious sounds, to tell the story of a rebel of ancient lore - Lilith, Adam's wife before Eve.
Danzig has also released his "3 Faces of Danzig," a limited edition, fully-articulated toy figure series that highlights different eras of Glenn's career - "Misfits-version" Danzig which wears his classic skull-and-crossbones black T-shirt from the Misfits' "Walk Among Us" album cover; "Samhain-version" Danzig, covered in dripping blood ala the "Initium" LP cover, and "Danzig-version" Danzig, which is shirtless and comes complete with the trademark Danzig belt buckle and upside-down-cross medallion necklace as on the "Lucifuge" album. The figures are made of soft vinyl, stand 10-inches tall and retail for $75.00 each, and are available in stores such as Spencer Gifts, Hot Topic, comic book/specialty stores, and on the Chaser website.
Confirmed dates for the 2006 "Blackest of the Black" tour are as follows: More...

Another year, another Ozzfest. After a star-studded lineup for its ten year anniversary last year, Ozzfest was faced with the challenge of putting together yet another great lineup for its eleventh year. When I went to Bristow, VA on Sunday, August 6, 2006, I was wondering just how good a lineup they managed to scrape together. I knew the bands that were playing, but the real question remained whether the main stage bands could hold their own with primarily younger, nu-metal bands on it and Ozzy closing out the second stage.
The temperatures had fortunately dropped from the 105F degree humid days of only a few days earlier, but the sky was crystal clear for most of the day and the intense sun beating down on you in the 90F degree temperatures was still enough to take a lot out of you and require constant re-hydration. On Sunday, July 23, the annual metal-gods tour known as Ozzfest, minus Ozzy, of course, rolled through Indianapolis, and the event passed without much out of the ordinary. The day saw a couple of fights, a lot of marijuana, a whole lot of ignorant people who harassed event staff at every turn, and a lot of people waiting to see the last three bands of the night without any knowledge of who played the second and early main stages—a typical Ozzfest.
