Howard Jones Comments On Leaving Killswitch Engage

Killswitch Engage recently announced the band was parting ways with vocalist Howard Jones and seeking a replacement. Howard has now checked in with the following statement:

"Well, I guess I will shed a little light without going too deep. As some of you may know, I've had a pretty interesting couple of years to say the least battling with some personal issues. One of the low points being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes that went unchecked for years. The rest of the band stuck with me through it, and to be honest they are the ones that kept me going. The whole experience definitely put a scare in me.

"Recently we've all been in writing mode but somehow I couldn't get excited about the new album and all the touring that would go with it. The guys saw it before I did. In hindsight I now realize that my heart wasn't in it.

"I have had an amazing decade with KSE. I love Justin, MikeD, Joel and Adam for hanging in there and standing by me no matter how bad it was. I have so many good memories, and those are the ones that I will keep. Will I be involved in music again? Sure, I have been in bands for a little over half my life, can't stop now. Until then, get the new KsE album, it's going to be good. Thanks everyone for letting me try to entertain you, and I wish myself well in my future endeavors. Gone fishin' Howard"

Killswitch Engage Splits With Vocalist

Killswitch Engage has issued the following announcement about parting ways with Howard Jones and seeking a new vocalist:

"To our family, friends and fans: We have decided to continue on without Howard Jones as the singer of Killswitch Engage.

"We love Howard and are thankful for the nine years that we've had him in the band. Out of respect for everyone involved we will not be discussing the specific reasons behind this decision. Howard is a part of our family and always will be, and we wish him well.

"He has left big shoes to fill, so we certainly have our work cut out for us to find the next singer of Killswitch, something we plan on making priority #1 going forward. Most importantly, thanks to all of you for all the support throughout the years and for sticking by us for all this time.

"We really do appreciate it and we very much look forward to having a new record for all of you in the not too distant future that we can all be proud of. Sincerely, Adam, Joel, Mike & Justin."

Further details on the band's vocalist situation will be announced as they are made available, and in the mean time you can follow the latest on Killswitch Engage via Facebook.

It’s like old times: hanging out with your friends, but they have mustaches now. Come on out, bring a friend and let’s make some sweat!"

Death Ray Vision Explodes In Boston

Nothing spices up a shitty, rainy afternoon like a good, old-fashioned metal show. And it’s even better when said daytime metal show includes some bonafide rock stars kicking complete ass in an intimate venue.

That’s just what unfolded in the dank, dark confines of Church in the shadows of Boston’s Fenway Park this past Saturday when Brian Fair of Shadows Fall and Mike D’Antonio of Killswitch Engage shattered the day’s doldrums with an hour of thrashy punk with their new side project Death Ray Vision.

The pair of old friends, joined by KsE/Seemless guitarist Pete Cortese, Cannae drummer Colin Conway and newcomer Zack Wells also on guitar, unveiled the new band a couple weeks ago at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival in Worcester, Mass.

But this was their first show in Boston and it was a throwback to the all-ages union hall shows where the band members started out. They chose heavily from their newly-released EP “Get Lost or Get Dead,” ripping through “Shatter Frames,” “Get Lost” and the punishing hardcore romp, “Not for Glory.” More...

Chromium Releases Artwork for Third Studio Album

Chromium has posted the cover artwork online for the band's new album, which can be viewed here. Chromium also commented on the new album:

"The start of 2011 has been quite a stellar one for the internationally renowned hard rock/metal group Chromium. Just having completed the crowd vocals for the band's upcoming third release, Chromium are on a path for great things this year. Fans got a first glimpse and listen to the new album this past week and the reaction was astounding.

"Another noticeable and unbelievable aspect of the third upcoming album is that world-renowned artist and bassist for the Grammy nominated band Killswitch Engage, Mike D’Antonio, had his hand in developing the artwork for the album. Mike D brought a totally different edge to the band’s image with his masterful skill in the artwork for the album.

"The first single from the album ‘My Perfection’ has been premiered on the band’s official MySpace page and fans worldwide have been praising the new sound of the band. The song will be hitting the radio airwaves soon so keep a listen out for ‘My Perfection’. Produced by the band’s very own Jared Gunston, the album promises to surpass any expectations and please fans around the world with its extensive attention to detail and brutal power behind the music. The introduction of Justin Du Preez on vocals has really brought a powerful and clear approach to the already unique vocals of the band.

Unearth Recording New Album

Unearth has begun tracking the new album at Zing Studios in Westfield, MA. The band is currently tracking drums with sit in drummer for the album, Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed. "Foley was an obvious choice for this album for many reasons, but mainly because of his abilities and knowledge of heavy music as well as his long time friendship with the band," comments Trevor Phipps. "A decade plus of friendship has made this an easy transition for the band, Foley and our producer/engineer Adam D."

In other news, the band has decided to change the mixing engineer for the album to Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, White Chapel, Devil Driver, Trivium, etc...) from Audiohammer Studios.

Guitarist Buz McGrath added this irrelevant comment about working with Mark, "Mark Lewis mixed me a drink once and i woke up in a swamp covered in anti freeze."

Unearth is aiming for a mid to late June release for the album followed by a world tour.
