Formed: 1986
From: Olsztyn, Poland
Last Known Status: Active

Background

Formed in Poland in 1986, it was three years before the band's 'Necrolust' demo saw them attain the attention of the underground, and led to the band's now infamous 'Morbid Reich' cassette release via the Polish Carnage Records, a release which legend has it was one of the biggest selling Death Metal demos/cassettes ever. The band signed to Earache in 1992 and in July of that year Vader recorded their one and only Earache album 'The Ultimate Incantation' with producer Paul Johnson.

Subsequently the band toured Europe with Bolt Thrower and Grave, and also hit the US with Deicide and Suffocation, but then left Earache to puruse a career on many and varied labels, gaining a gretaer reputation with each release for a more intellectual lyrical stance as well as sound based heavily around drummer Doc's amazing blastbeat control. As the band continued churning out album after album, they moved towards their own unique style of death-thrash metal fusion with the landmark releases of 'Litany' and 'Revalations'.

Devian Announces New Album Title

After their much-lauded debut album “Ninewinged Serpent” in 2007 and a comprehensive European tour with Polish death metal overlords Vader, Sweden’s blackened death/thrash commando DEVIAN, who feature former Marduk members Legion (vocals) and Emil Dragutinovic (drums) in their ranks, return with a second album, "God To The Illfated." "God To The Illfated" will be released in Europe on the following dates:

GERMANY / AUSTRIA / SWITZERLAND / BENELUX: December 12, 2008.
DENMARK / NORWAY: December 15, 2008.
SPAIN / PORTUGAL: December 16, 2008.
SWEDEN / FINLAND: December 17, 2008.
FRANCE: January 05, 2009.
ITALY: January 16, 2009.
UK / GREECE / REST OF EUROPE: January 19, 2009.

Recorded once again at Art Decay Studio with Rickard Kottelin, DEVIAN this time around decided to hook up with Hypocrisy / Pain mastermind Peter Tägtgren for further production duties and the intense mixdown of the album at The Abyss Studio (Immortal, Marduk, Dimmu Borgir, etc.), while mastering was once again taken care of by Peter In De Betou / Tailor Maid Production (Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, etc.).

Frontman Legion comments on the creation of DEVIAN’s sophomore album:

"'God To The Illfated' is the result of DEVIAN fusing together as its own powerhouse. Having the luxury of making music together with one's best friends made the new songs step up to a whole different league throughout the writing sessions: we all bled everything into the album, everything that we knew was DEVIAN and explored as much new ground as we could. The extensive touring we did last spring showed us what really works for us....jacked up and confident from slaughter on the road we let all the fire from the live-shows translate onto the songs and the recording-sessions 'til we all felt that unbeatable feeling of grand accomplishment. The feeling that we had a really special beast of an album on our hands."

DEVIAN has additionally also being confirmed to appear on the "Winterfest" 2009 tour in January with Deicide, Samael, Vader and label mates Zonaria. See below for all upcoming Devian tour dates: More...

Vader To Record New Album In March

Peter Wiwczarek, frontman of Polish death metal legends Vader has posted the following update online:

"Long time since I had a chance to talk to you.... You know but the reasons. You know how much has changed in the band, so I'm sure you understand the situation... What I can promise you all is, that since the big change on www.vader.pl - which is soon gonna happen - I will regular drop some news from Vader Commando. We're gonna also add way more short video reports or clips - which are so much popular format today. You should be enough satisfied.

"What's new in Vader? You know for sure about all the personal changes in lineup. We just finished two-weeks tour in Baltic States and Scandinavia with GRAVE, ZONARIA and ZABBADIAH CROWS, which was "baptism in fire" for new Vader, which is now: Wacek "Vogg" - guitar; Reyash -b.g ; Paul - drums and me (vocals/guitar). Since the first shows in Lithuania and Latvia the new members show how passion and feeling are important to perform metal on stage! Personally it was like pumping fresh blood into my veins... I was feeling like we were on Vader's first tour. With the same lineup we'll hit again in January with DEICIDE, SAMAEL and DEVIAN. To play with the friends form yet early 90's must be something unholy!!!! IT WILL BE SPECIALL!!!!

"We open new chapter in Vader's history in December: Necropolis!!! In Hertz Studios we're gonna record 4 - 5 song demo for the upcoming new full length. This is nothing but checking out new sounds and different way of work in studio. It's not gonna be official, thou' we'll put a song on our site for you to listen to. The ultimate recordings are booked for March 2009 and Necropolis will be produced by Tue Madsen (who previously worked with such bands as MOONSPELL, HATESPHERE, THE HAUNTED, GOREFEST, HEAVEN SHALL BURN and many more) in Anfarm Studio in Denmark. The title of the album-which is the very first Vader's song ever - is chosen not by chance. It will be connected with recordings like De Profundis or Litany with themes of Forgotten Worlds, Mythos or Ancient Powers still living in humans sub consciousness.

"Just mentioned few titles: 'Devour', 'Dark Heart' or 'Forgotten' (all written by Harry Maat). Pawel Frelik - the Voice of Truth in the band - is also gonna put some lines on the album... We'd like to change Necropolis designs as well making the "overall view" in old style of metal. Of course - I'll keep informing you about the progress. As I promised...."

"The tour which was planned for the beginning of autumn has been postponed till the last months of 2008.

The drummer of VESANIA, also known from VADER - Daray - has become a member of DIMMU BORGIR - a band that doesn't need introduction to metal fans. Their concert plans have coincided with the plans of Vesania and Creative Music. That's why we are obliged to apologise to Polish fans and postpone the Vesania tour in Poland making sure that the additional time will be used to prepare it even better.

Ex-Vader Guitarist Mauser Explains Departure

Mauser, guitarist for Unsun and formerly Vader, has posted the following blog explaining why he left Vader:

“I would like to confirm the news about my departure from Vader and I would also like to explain the reasons for my decision, so that I can clear out all misconceptions and misinterpretations about it.

"For the past six months I have been very busy with my new band - Unsun and I haven't been able to fulfil my duties in both of the bands at the same time. I knew this was coming and I knew I would end up in a situation where I would have to decide if I should leave Vader or not. The upcoming release of my new record with Unsun – The End OF Life as well as very intensive promotion of the album made me realize that the moment to leave has come.

"Therefore I decided to focus entirely on Unsun and nothing else. I have also felt the need to create something entirely new musically, something different than what I have done in the past. I would like to thank all Vader fans for the support you gave me during our shows, because these were really wonderful moments full of indescribable energy. I hope you can all understand my decision for choosing my own path because it is a virtue we all always strive for... No one can tell us what music to listen to, no one can keep us from playing the music that we love... This is what I will always fight for!"

Vader Announces Plans For New EP And LP

Polish death metal legends Vader has posted the following message online:

"We would like to thank to all the participants of our anniversary gig: bands, fans and staff. Thanx to you all we were able to celebrate the 25 anniversary of Vader in so special way. Big thanx to fans for such a numerous presence, bands for fantastic shows they all played in Warsaw, guests for their appearance on this show and our crew for nearly 24 hours of hard work! It was a very important show for us, the more so because it took place in such a difficult circumstances. We were forced to give up an idea of recording DVD due to some technical issues. For technical reasons we were also unable to build a special stage scenery prepared exclusively for this show. Sorry for very long queues for food and drink and the high price of our energy drink - these things were beyond our control. The show ended up turning out well and despite these shortcomings we believe it was a success. Once again- thank you all! All the blood, sweat and tears poured into Vader have been worth it!

"At this point we would like to refer to the changes that have occurred in Vader. As you all probably already know, Mauser and Daray are no longer in the band and this anniversary gig was their last show with Vader. We would say that mentally, they both were out of the band from a long time. They played with us more like a session guys, without any real commitment and dedication. We were thinking about making some changes since a year or something, now we are glad to have this opportunity to build a new band. At the moment we are looking for some new musicians. Probably next week we are going to present you our new lineup. In October the band will appear on tour in Scandinavia with GRAVE and ZONARIA. In January 2009 Vader will hit the road again, sharing the stage with DEICIDE and SAMAEL. Just before this tour, in December we are going to start a pre-production process of our new full length album Necropolis. The recording session is scheduled for March. The album will be mixed by one of the best producers in a music industry! In May 2009 the band will release a new EP. The new album will be out in September. In meantime we are going to appear on many summer festivals. Don't be affraid, Vader don't lose the power and quality. On the contrary we feel it will be much stronger than ever before. Stay Vader'ized, be prepared for a new line up and the upcoming killing album Necropolis!"

Vader Parts Ways With Bassist, Novy

Polish death metal legends VADER have posted the following update:

“After five years of working with Vader, our bassist Novy (true name Marcin Nowak) decided to part ways with the band! He made his decision right after recently finished European tour. We would like to thank him for all those years of successful cooperation and just a great work he did for the band within the time. The band’s members wish him all the best for the future! Unfortunately, Marcin’s decision of leaving the band was made not only after the finished tour in Europe, but also just before the upcoming (and very important) US tour Summer Slaughter Tour 2008 (when we appear alongside THE BLACK DALHIA MURDER, KATAKLYSM, CRYPTOPSY, and other bands). This is a very hard situation for the band but don’t worry - we have already found a replacement - the session bassist for this tour will be Martin (ex-DECAPITATED). We are convinced that together with him Vader will be a killer! The session bass player for the shows planned for the rest of 2008 will be announced after the US tour.

"On August 3rd, Vader will appear on Polish Woodstock Festival. On August 30th the band will play a special anniversary show in Warsaw. In October, panzer-division under command of Peter will hit the road again, playing a tour through across Scandinavia and the Baltic States.

"The band needs a new bass player. If you are interested, contact us at info@vader.pl. We are looking only for a serious and experienced musician.”

Full version of the video will available online pretty soon so stay tuned! The song was re-recorded exclusively for VADER's anniversary album 'XXV', out now on Regain Records.

Vader Mainman Issues Tour report

Vader mainman Peter Wiwczarek has posted the following report from the road:

"The first two weeks of the tour are behind us... We have played already several concerts in France, Germany, Benelux and England. To tour in our own nightliner, with the best roadies in the world - veterans of Vader's invasions - can be only a pleasure. It guaranties calm, so necessary in such long and important tours...

Finally we can realize in the best way, all that was prepared by our management in last months. Almost all venues, where we play are good places, so the bands and - first of all - our fans should enjoy it.

This is the first day off today (there will be three more on the tour), so I found a moment to drop some lines and recap the first two weeks of the tour.

We had a great time on the boat, on the trip to Forts Enet and Boyard on Atlantic Ocean (and cool time on grill organized by our drivers Kristoph and Zbiggy). There were our old friends from INACTIVE MESSIAH among us but also "new faces"... if I can describe so the great bands like DEVIAN or SEPTIC FLESH. More...
